“I came in with my daughter today, hoping to get a certain pastry. Unfortunately they ran out. The young lady at the front counter was very attentive and knowledgeable. She suggested similar pastries and even some of her favorite items. The receipt says that lady’s name is Alana Cruz. So, thank you Alana!“

“I've come here both with my vegan friends and without. I'm not a vegan but the food here is delicious. I really loved the matzo ball soup special during Passover, I would say it's the best matzo ball soup I've ever had. Wonderful wines by the glass. Amazing pita bread. Love the current special hummus with sweat potato.“

“I visited holy grail donuts today. And I'm telling you that it was great experience to enjoy good donuts. You can see how your donut is made and who makes your donuts in the store. It was so fresh and I've been never experienced this before. The vibe was cozy and comforting. Also staffs were super friendly. Strongly recommend. I wish donut shop like Holey Grail Donuts exists in my country too ;( Maybe little bit expensive but worth to try. You won't regret it.“

“The place is gorgeous, especially if you love a nice terrace. The food... Is it because it's the only middle Eastern gluten free place, or is it because the ingredients are fresh, or is it because the preparation is perfect, or maybe it's all the small details... I think it's all of the above, one of the best middle Eastern places in LA, and the best gluten free one :) enjoy their manahish!“

“If you're interested in trying popular Vietnamese entrees outside of pho, head over to Be U! This woman-owned eatery is located in a prime hipster Echo Park neighborhood, and to me, it's a perfect blend of my culture superimposed on Los Angeles's colorful cityscape. The menu ranges from homey comfort-food entrees to popular street bites, and some new-age fusion items as well. Atmosphere: 2/5 As a take-out-only restaurant located on Hoover Street, there's no seating and it faces traffic. If only there were some colorful plastic chairs (like the ones you see in SE Asia) - the vibes would be immaculate. However, you're either standing and eating or taking the food back to your home. Service: 3/5 Wasn't bad but wasn't warm or friendly either - service was okay Flavors: 5/5 Highly recommend: -Banh mi trung op la (banh mi with fried egg): homemade mushroom pate is delicious, it inspired me to make some at home. The egg was crispy to the heavens. -Rau ma juice: in English known as pennyworth, extremely refreshing, herbal, and will cool you down on a hot day. -Tofu goi cuon (spring rolls): The peanut sauce offered with this was so yummy! The spring rolls were super fresh and all the herbs complemented the flavors. Parking: 2/5 Street parking only, very limited Pricing: 3/5 Definitely not cheap for Vietnamese food, however, LA is a high-cost-of-living area so I understand that the owner needs to maintain overhead costs and pay her employees a fair wage! Expect to pay $4-5 higher than what you're used to paying in the OC/SJ/SGV. The reason why I rate it low is because the portions are significantly smaller than what you'd get at a traditional sit down Vietnamese restaurant Overall I recommend Be U if you're unfamiliar with Vietnamese food outside of mainstream pho, but if you're willing to drive to SGV, Garden Grove/Westminster, you'll be truly immersed in the cuisine and culture“

“This is a solid spot for lunch, baked goods, and pantry items (sauces, dressings, cookies, etc.) The shakahuka can’t be missed, and the same goes for the Ho Barcelona sandwich. ? I’ve come through here many times throughout the years, and everything I’ve ordered has been from really good to great.Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian sandwiches, quiches, and other lunch items.“

“1903... wow. A friend bought a box of mochi here and I was able to try some. I'm not big on mochi since I'm just so so with red bean filling, which is most common. The mochi was pillowy soft though. I'm glad I got to try it from this place. If you're looking for mochi in Sacramento, Osaka-Ya is just as good!“

“Tiny little bakery, in little Tokyo specializing in Asian baked goods. It was packed so I didn't look at everything they had, but they had plenty of good looking sweet stuff to ruin your Hollywood diet. I just grabbed snacks to take on my travels. I snagged a bag of melon pan and it looks and taste just like anime told me it would. Also got a couple steamed buns, sadly they were sold out of anko, but I got pork and curry. Haven't tried those yet, but the melon pan got me excited for them.“

“I had their Tiramisu cake slice. Kinda dry. Staff was more interested in having their own conversations than taking my order. I felt like I waited forever but probably was more like 5 minutes for them to finally take my order. I also had their chocolate chip cookies. Definitely delicious.“

“People that give low star reviews to places because “the line is too long” or “I couldn’t find parking” are annoying. Are you expecting a coffee shop to be empty in the morning??The drinks and food are great, the staff is friendly. 5 stars.“

“First time here and they nailed it. Got the Bolognese sauce, very tasty and the pasta, curly long ones, were excellent. The wine did not really pair with the red sauce, a Spanish dry red...Water next time perhaps. Will definitely return to this spot! The bread was very tasty ....after we had them cut it for us.“

“At the last minute I ordered a dozen vegan cupcakes for my birthday and they were out of this world amazingly tasty! I highly recommend everyone try their strawberry churro cupcake and their green matcha tea cupcake with strawberry frosting was surprisingly good too. I lucked out that their "Cupcake of the Month" was carrot cake because that's my favorite and it had a delicious warm holiday spice flavor to it! The staff were very professional and kind. Highly recommended!“

I have tried the veggie and margarita as well as the Mac n Cheese specialty they have on Sundays. They were all delicious. I didn’t expect the Mac n Cheese to be good but had to try it and was pleasantly surprised. This is my new spot for slices!“

“NO CASH ACCEPTED HERE -- first thing to know if you're coming here A pretty, little cafe that serves beautiful sandwiches that are as great to eat as they are to look at. My friend and I both ordered our own sandwiches and they each came with a nice side salad. Both dishes came with VERY fresh ingredients and I've been craving to return since I first tried it Smoked salmon bahn mi - 10/10. It was so tasty even though it wasn't anything like what a traditional bahn mi is like. The lettuce and mint used in the sandwich were crunchy and super fresh and the pickled jalapeños used added a nice dimension to the sandwich Side salad - 8/10. I would have enjoyed it more but it was much too drenched with oil/lemon (not sure what they use here. It was good regardless but the dressing used was overwhelming)“

“My son loves carrot cake, but he has always hated that many have raisins and pineapple. I live in Long Beach and I couldn’t find a local bakery that would exclude those two for him until I stumbled on The Shredded Carrot on Google. The Yelp reviews were really good and when I called the pleasant attendant said they could definitely exclude raisins and pineapple! I was delighted because I had called many places that said they couldn’t do that for us. I picked up my son’s cake yesterday and I was nervous because we had never had a cake from here. But man! Was it delicious! The Shredded Carrot went above and beyond with their service from my phone call to place the order, to the order promptness and taste! Worth the drive:)“

“Cute brunch spot w unique things. Parking is annoying to find (just street parking), there was a wait, and tbh some service was kinda rude they have experimental dishes, but overall I think we ordered well and got good food! Seasonal Shaq ($19)- tbh, this tasted like tomato sauce in a pan for me but my friend really likes their shakshuka so maybe I'm unseasoned. Their bread is yummy and fun! Rainbow Toast ($15) - their viral toast, it was good! Brioche was fluffy with nice variety of jams. Think it's steeply priced so I feel like I could make this at home LOL but good to try once Classic Latke tot ($19) - crowd favorite, this was unique and really good! Superrrr crispy potato with a lovely balance of flavors (salty/briney roe, creamy creme fraiche, sweet jam) Just a little expensive for the portion but I'd get this again! Crispy works ($15) - also a favorite from us! Crispy rice was delicious with a really good balance of flavors. It's not heavy and this portion was also really good for the price, also would get this again! Instagram - @joangela.eats“

“Fans of scone!! You must come here!! This place has some of the best scones in LA. Crispy on the outside and plush and buttery on the inside. The rosemary fig flavor is to die for! I also tried the earl grey, which could have had a stronger earl grey flavor but it's all good. I can also report that they make a solid cappuccino, which I think is very telling of good coffee in general. The vibes of this place are perfect for meeting someone or working/studying. There is lots of seating inside and a beautiful patio with lots of seating outside too. It has the ambiance of a quaint bookstore without having any books. Service was great.“

“Such an amazing gem. Wanted to eat after a night out but finding vegan and healthy food was tough. This was worth the drive! The food was incredible, so flavorful, all organic and vegan. So much selection. We are the grain pancakes with the tofu scramble, sausage and has brown and the waffle deluxe. Generous portions and well seasoned as well as they served it with date syrup. The hot chocolate with oat milk was the best I've had. The cinnamon was so fresh and not too sweet. The vibe is such a trip because it's like entering a portal with snoop dog on a wall and then Mayan woodwork art.Great service too!100% recommend and open til 12a on a friday“

“Many of the workers do not know a lot of basic questions regarding cakes and prices. “Came here after a long road trip with a big group and had an amazing experience! Great menu selection, and server helped recommend what to order, what dishes, vegetables, meats, noodles etc. Food came out quickly, they gave us a little cart for everything. They frequently came to clear empty dishes and help if we needed to order more. I highly recommend the scallion crispy pancake! The sauces are great, even better when mixed. The soup tasted great and we took some home too :) Highly recommend this place.“

“These are the best cookies in LA I have found. I love that the outside has a crisp but the inside is gooey. I will say the best one, even though I am a chocolate chip person is their cookies and cream from the traditional menu. However, we have been here at least 7 times and my personal favorite is the game day cookie with a cream cheese center.Lately I don’t order unless there’s an option for the cream cheese center cookie. These cookies are special and they are not too sweet like Crumbl cookies. I tried those once and had to throw the box of 6 cookies away it was awful.“

“I've been going to both locations for years, but this one is more convenient for me. I love everything that they bake. My favorite is the cookies. But they also made my wedding cake. I made an appointment at the Torrance location for that. It was beautifully decorated just as I requested with different flavors on each tier: red velvet with cream cheese, yellow with strawberries and whip cream, and banana with custard. Everyone raved about it! Back to the cookies. I usually go to the Gardena location for my fix. They have a cookie special on Wednesday, but I can't remember what it is. The chocolate chip cookies are great. Pro tip: get the bag of cookies vs. individual ones for a better price. The fudge chews are a cross between a brownie and a cookie. We call them brookies. They make a maple one as well. But my favorite cookie is the peanut butter. They're slightly crispy but also soft. They also make great custom cookies and cakes, donuts, petit fours, small pastries. I'm sure there's something for everyone with a sweet tooth.“

“If you’re particular about your Matcha you will find that Midori Matcha matches your expectations. They use ceremonial-grade matcha so the colors are vibrant and the flavor is well-rounded. I felt that their matcha had a little kick to it, very subtle but it was that note presented itself at the very end of a sip.Their prices are very reasonable at $6 for a matcha latte and $3 for their matcha ice cream. It’s a beautiful establishment, the interiors are wooden and inviting. The shop is located right across a water fountain and has plenty of seating inside and outside. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly. It’s one of my favorite places downtown to grab authentic matcha ?“

“I stopped at this Korean influenced coffee shop on my way between LA and the court in Westminster. Obviously the name is a little...uh...unusual but when you walk in its clearly a coffee shop with food. Big interior with plenty of space to sit. Eclectic, Korean influenced drink menu. My cappuccino was very good. Some exotic Korean pastries, a sausage embedded croissant(pictured) and like savory cheese buns? I would need to be in a mood for one of those. Instead I got an almond croissant, which looked pretty standard but turned out to be quite delicious. Like unexpectedly delicious. “A delightful little spot that serves three kinds of sangrias but has also a full selection of hard liquor. There's seating at the bar but also general inside seating as well. With tons of natural lighting it is as its patrons, quiet and thoughtful. A peaceful little pocket world self-contained, a tick away from the noise, the relentless sounds of hustle & flow, just right outside its closed door. You could write here, alone on your laptop creating observing the every day ordinariness of nice people living their best lives, have a real conversation with another person you cared about, maybe even a stranger, someone new who initially wanted to know only what that wonderful looking salad you were having was...Or just sit quietly with no need for words simply enjoying good food, the comforting solitude of your own company and the silence, having no external interaction at all. I forget that sometimes; how nice it is to be still, completely indulgent of the serenity found only in silence. You can do that here. If you want.I had a delicious 'Donner' salad, long island ice tea and the most splendid conversation since like I just said, I forget, I mean A Lot, I confess, how nice it is to be silent ;o)This is one of what I hope will be many little gems here in DTLA I get to discover. I will most certainly be back. If you stop in ask for Shona, she's the other very attractive mixologist behind the bar.“

“Don't get it twisted - the hot mocha latte with oat milk was expensive at around $8.70. And I don't think dairy-free folks should be up-charged. BUT this was one of the best latte's I've ever had. So good that I went back and paid the same price for an iced version which might have been even better.I also got a vegan blueberry coffee cake muffin which was very good. There is plenty of seating, the service was fast, the staff were friendly, the space was clean and the interior design created a cool, relaxed ambiance. I will be back.“
