“We ate here a few times during our recent stay. The seafood stew was delicious, perfectly cooked seafood that melts in your mouth. I'm a bread fanatic (what can I say) and the garlic bread shocked me it was so good. I would eat just a meal of the garlic bread if I could. The avocado pasta was also surprisingly good. Wouldn't have thought of that flavor combination but it worked well. Clam chowder was warming and a solid choice, again sort of overshadowed by my aw at the world's greatest croutons on to the soup? Whoever is baking and toasting the bread at this restaurant has a gift.

My least favorite dishes were the seafood risotto (tiny portion, barely any seafood in it), and the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich had some sort of seasoning in it with the consistency of sand. Like chewing chicken covered in sand. Had to scrape it off.“

We had a wonderful Father’s Day dinner here, and everything exceeded our expectations. The waitstaff and the friendly girls at the door who seated us were all fantastic—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Everyone took the time to explain the specials and answer questions, which made the experience feel personal and special. 
The portions were generous and the food was incredibly fresh and flavorful. As a nice touch, they even took a Polaroid picture of us with their own camera to commemorate the occasion—what a thoughtful gesture!
This was a great dinner overall, and we’ll definitely be back. Perfect spot for a memorable meal with family. Thank you to the whole team!“

“love love love it here! my mom and I stayed in fairfax for a whole week and we ate here several times. food is amazing, atmosphere is amazing, staff is amazing. special shout out to our main man Ty who remembered us by name and was always super fun and friendly every time we came in. he may even play you a few songs on his guitar if you’re lucky. this place was definitely a highlight of our trip and i’ll miss going there when we leave. we could also tell that this place is a huge hit with the locals which is always nice to see. thanks for all of the great food, drinks, conversations, and songs Barefoot Cafe! until next time! -Ebony“

“I’ve been here many times, and my kid loves the backyard pirate ship play structure, but this time the service was above and beyond. My 4-year-old son lost one of his favorite toys somewhere in the backyard and was on the verge of a full meltdown. Bella noticed what was going on, helped us look for it, and somehow managed to track it down. She absolutely saved our family dinner. It’s little things like that that make a place feel genuinely family-friendly. Thanks, Bella!“

“Wonderful spot! Their treats are delicious, coffee and other drinks are good. The Cortado or Pistachio Latte are my go to's. Also, a nice place close to home where I can go to get work done. Unlike other cafe's they stay open til 10pm!“

“Stopped by recently on a hot summer day for some gelato. Talk about a perfect repast to beat the summer heat. I had hazelnut and mango, and the portions are very generous. I didn't ask, but I think they make the cones in-house. Anyway, strange combination, I know. The mango was immediately delicious but I think I messed up combining the two because when it came time for the hazelnut, I was too full to truly enjoy the depth of flavor. Next time, I'll get it to take home. I love the location, it's in one of my favorite areas of San Rafael with shopping, good food and entertainment in abundance. Haven't had the pizza yet, but I'm a New Yorker and we're picky about our slices!“
