“I’ve been walking past here every day since my work assignment started. Today I decided to give them a test run around the block. So they have a ton of ‘special rolls’ but not so many of the standard type rolls. I happen to like the standard rolls better and don’t understand the whole fancy this and that. That being said I tried both of what they offered. Both rolls overall were good. Not great, nothing that screamed special. It wouldn’t keep me from stopping back at a later date though. Service was again just ok. The typical where their phone was more important than checking on the customers. The atmosphere and location are decent with plenty of parking. Pricing is what I expected. Others have stated the portions are large and that is the case.“

“I went to try the new lunch menu at Tanto Izakaya in Sunnyvale that started last week. I’m a huge fan of Tanto and their authentic Japanese menu, so when I saw they had new lunch set meals, I just had to go right away. I tried the Bara chirashi set meal for $33 and while it seems pricy, it is worth the price due to the huge portions and I left feeling very full.
Times have changed, this is the economy we are in for prices. Portion wise, I think it’s even enough to share. Come hungry!
The presentation is like a chirashi bowl I had in Hokkaido earlier this year. If you love Japanese food, I highly recommend a try. Service is quite fast. I was the first customer at opening. They have been around 25 years, so the vibe is always good and nostalgic.“

“We went to the place with colleagues after work. First thing that i heard instead of greetings was that they are out of salmon.
Most of items in the menu (except for vegetarian) included salmon. Waiting time for the group of 10 ppl was expectedly long but the food was delivered at different pace for different people and while some finished eating others still wait.
The food was OK but nothing special. Sushi look like sandwiches with a lot of rice to make for the size. Not something that I personally like.
The place can benefit from some design to make it look more like a Japanese restaurant or dinner, Right now it looks the same as TOGO sandwiches next door.“

“I've known Pacific Catch for as long as I can remember, so we were happy when they opened in the newly renovated Sunnyvale downtown area.
We've been here a couple of times and both visits were consistent with what we expected. Good ambience, good service, and good food. The ingredients tasted fresh and the service was prompt. If you are looking for more authentic flavors and less Americanized food, there are plenty of other solid options, but it's convenient to have Mexican, Asian, and other flavors under one roof.
On our recent visit, we tried the Firecracker Salmon sushi, the Mexican bowl with shrimp, and a Modelo Negra to go with it. The flavors were mild, but the meal was enjoyable overall. We ended with a nice Hawaiian Sundae to complete the meal and it was quite good. Shout out to Marvin for the good service.
Definitely recommend if you are in the area and looking for a family friendly spot that can satisfy different tastes and preferences.“

“Hanamaru is a fantastic sushi spot. Probably the best sushi in Sunnyvale. Been going for years and years and never disappointed. I love the specialty rolls here like, Black tiger roll, Cherry blossom roll and U.F.O. roll. Chef's nigiri and sashimi are well portioned cuts of fresh fish. Usual fair like edamame and miso great too. Highly recommend!“

“It was a delight and joy to have chef Steve to prepare our meal. My wife and I ate everything that was prepared for us and the food was absolutely amazing. Great flavors and fresh ingredients. The scallop was to die for. Uni was heavenly, that it melts in your mouth. Uni is not something my wife like or enjoy but she loved it the way chef Steve pair with other ingredients. Once again thanks chef Steve for the fabulous dining experiences.“

“Had an amazing experience at this omakase place in Mountain View. The servers and chefs are super welcoming when you walk in! If you here for a celebration or treating yourself to a nice meal, you need to get the omakase tasting menu! The fish was so fresh and melts in your mouth!!! I really like their chawanmushi (steam egg with seafood) , it was so light and flavorful. I recommend this spot for Omakase! :)“

“Good sushi for the price. I usually get the lunch nigiri special to go and they are pretty good about special instructions in the online order. Quality of fish has been decent and the miso and salad is also fresh and good quality. I just wish they would do something about the smell? fragrance? inside.. it smells like a combo of bleach and some room freshener.“

“The sushi here is seriously good - fresh ingredients, creative rolls you won’t find anywhere else. The Fuji Roll? Absolutely delicious. Prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly, even if the vibe inside feels a bit cramped and could use a deeper clean. It’s a small spot, so I’d recommend takeout or delivery over dining in. For the quality of food though, it’s worth it.“

“Fantastic! Sat at the sushi counter for omakase service. Chef explain each bite/dish and service was excellent. Great casual neighborhood vibes, comfortable seating. Most importantly, excellent quality fish that shined w/ traditional and understated preparations. I'll be back when in town for work.“

“The sushi is so fresh it melts in your mouth. It’s so good. It’s a quaint almost hole in the wall type place but it’s clean and the people are friendly and attentive. It’s a definite must if you like sushi. Prices are reasonable and a tiny bit high on some dishes but it’s worth it. I will be going back again and I’m sure lots of times 😋“

“This sushi spot is down the street from my house and it's quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Granted I usually come in for lunch and order a bento box. I love the spicy chicken teriyaki, veggie tempura and California rolls. Their Chile. Matsu was good but I prefer the teriyaki. Their miso soup is tasty.
Restaurant is typical sushi restaurant size. They may accommodate larger parties with notice. The art on the wall is movies, action figures, and things of that nature
I haven't tried too much outside of that so I will have to order more when I go next time. I want to order specialty rolls. Will update the review after the fact.“

“Katsu is a refined, intimate omakase experience that redefines what it means to dine with intention. With only eight seats at the chef's counter, the chef-owner, Katsu Maruyama, treats everyone as a special guest.
The omakase menu evolves with the seasons; the meal's pacing is thoughtful, allowing diners to savor each bite while engaging with Chef Katsu, who shares insights into his techniques and ingredients. The fish is incredibly fresh (often flown in from Japan), and the rice is perfectly seasoned.
The atmosphere is calm and minimalist, allowing you to focus entirely on the food.“

“The food tastes great! There are a lot of options, so even if you don't like sushi there's plenty of options, like miso and udon. The staff are always patient and attentive. There are many affordable roll options, and the menu is decently priced for the area as well. Great place to go with a partner or a group of friends.“

“A few super authentic Japanese Restaurants in the Bay Area. Main Chef Eric is experienced 20+ years. You can ask his Omakase (Chef Choice). Once you taste Mikado’s super fresh Sushi and Sashimi, it is really hard to find the satisfaction from other places. Their Kitchen Items (grilled items, tempura, and Udon) also absolutely good.“

“We sat at that counter, facing the men preping the food. The shushi was amazing and tasty. The service was fast, and the environment was cozy as well. The only disappointment was their takiyoki balls that each had only one small piece of octopus inside.“

“Mmmmmm, so good. And open for lunch. I had the um, I don't remember but it was kind of like an everything roll. Accompanied by two cold Asahi - fuhgeddaboudit. Service was quick for it being a busy lunch spot. Staff is super nice. Definitely check out next time in Palo Alto. I'm addicted to sushi. Cheers!“

“This place has a good variety to choose from. I ordered rainbow and it had a strange aftertaste, which is probably from the crab mixture inside the roll. The rolls that my friend has ordered were fine and didn’t have that aftertaste. The fish was fresh, the food was ready pretty fast. Service is long, the waiter didn’t check on us after he brought the food for a while. Overall, it’s worth trying but service should be improved.“

“Not a lot of sushi in the sampler. Food we did get was good but not exceptional. Generally just ok value not great. Atmosphere is ok. Staff is very nice. Feels like a small local establishment. Wasn't busy on a Friday night when other nearby sushi places had 2 hour wait.“

“Our family has been to Sumo many times because it's a family favorite. Our kids love the kids meals (rice, miso soup, and salmon or chicken teriyaki) and the sushi train, where we usually pick a few rolls and mochi for dessert. We love the variety of the menu and freshness of the food most of the time. Depending on the day, the texture of the rice can be improved and sometimes the offerings on the sushi train are limited, but the excellent service more than makes up for it. The restaurant is full of regulars that the staff remembers. A few favorites from the menu include the tempura ramen, all of the rolls, the agedashi tofu and the mochi ice cream. Highly recommended as a family friendly establishment that serves above average food, a quiet and fun ambiance, and great service.“

“We had been searching for a long time around Cupertino for a café that makes good sushi rolls. The task wasn’t easy, but I decided to stop by Bay Sushi and order a few rolls to go. We were pleasantly surprised by the staff — their attentiveness and attention to detail stood out. Our order was ready in less than 10 minutes, and we were delighted with the quality and taste of the rolls. Everything was just right, and now we know where to enjoy healthy and delicious food. Thanks to the chefs and the staff!“
