“This review is for the bar only. We did not eat full dinner in the dining room. But we love getting some appetizers or sushi and sitting at the bar for drinks! The cocktail menu is so inventive and delicious. The food is only ok but the drinks and fun bartenders make up for that. We will be back. Thank you for a great evening!“

“My family has been coming here since the early aughts back when Campbell Music was next door (RIP) and we were looking to grub after our music lessons. The quality has been consistent over the decades. The dinner for two is a great deal! You get rice, miso soup, shrimp and veggie tempura, teriyaki chicken, gyoza, California rolls, and green tea ice cream from Marianne’s (delicious and Bay Area based ?) for just $27 a person. Highly recommend! ?“

“The sushi specials are really good, and great value that you get for the price. The tempura was really well done too, crispiest, lightest tempura that i have had for a long time. Great friendly service. Have ordered take out a few times, our family enjoyed the dine in. Gotta try the quail egg shooter!
The oysters were also delicious! Apparently they're on special mon to Thursday, so we'll be heading back for them“

“This sushi experience is worth every penny, especially for those who appreciate the highest quality fish. Sitting at the bar, you’re able to watch the chef carefully select and prepare each piece, showcasing the exceptional freshness of the ingredients. The fish is melt-in-your-mouth tender, with each bite bursting with natural flavors that highlight its top-tier quality. Whether it’s the buttery richness of the toro, the clean, sweet taste of the uni, or the delicate, perfectly cut slices of white fish, every piece feels like a celebration of freshness.
The chef’s expertise shines through not only in the preparation but in the way each piece is crafted to enhance the natural taste of the fish. The quality is on a whole other level, and it’s evident in every bite. While the meal is undoubtedly an investment, the unparalleled freshness and skillful presentation make it an unforgettable and worthwhile experience for any sushi enthusiast.“

“The sushi is so fresh it melts in your mouth. It’s so good. It’s a quaint almost hole in the wall type place but it’s clean and the people are friendly and attentive. It’s a definite must if you like sushi. Prices are reasonable and a tiny bit high on some dishes but it’s worth it. I will be going back again and I’m sure lots of times 😋“

“Dinner bento box is a great option if you want to try multiple items! Had the tuna roll, salmon teriyaki, and sashimi- all were very good and the fish was very fresh! Portions are large and the food is all delicious. Service was wonderful and attentive. Will definitely be back!“

“I have dined in and enjoyed takeout from TGI's sushi many times, and they have never failed to impress. The freshness of their ingredients always shines through, making each bite a delightful experience. My husband and I are regular customers, and we both appreciate the consistent quality and flavors offered by TGI's sushi.
One highlight for me is the Honeymoon roll - it's my ultimate favorite! The combination of flavors and textures in this roll never fails to satisfy my sushi cravings. Whether dining in or getting takeout, TGI's sushi has become our go-to spot for delicious, fresh sushi.
If you're looking for a sushi place that delivers on taste, quality, and variety, TGI's sushi is definitely worth a try. You won't be disappointed!“

“This place has quickly became my favorite sushi spot in northern San Jose and Santa Clara. The sushi is always fresh and hugely portioned. The udon is basic, but the tempura is always extra crispy and filling. Lastly, their bento box, a usual staple, is delicious on all items and reasonable priced.
Additionally, their Tako Nigiri and Agedashi Tofu are my favorite appetizers here.“

“Cute, delicious, and A MUST TRY. Joy Sushi a cute Japanese joint nestled in Mountain View was an amazing spot to eat.
The service from Joy Sushi was exceptional with the servers bringing a familial vibe in the restaurant. One of the servers even helped me learn how to use my chopsticks. Overall great service. The ambiance was great as well, though there wasn’t LOADS of seating. The interior was very nice with lots of decorations and on the inside you could see a lot of the action happening which was cool.
The food itself was GREAT. I got the Unagi Donburi which was an eel dish. The dish came with a bomb unagi sauce that tasted a little like a zesty thicker teriyaki which complemented the fattiness of the eel amazingly. The dish was the perfect portion for me to finish in the restaraunt and be full. The dish also interestingly came with some orange savory fish roe that popped. The eel was SO tasty. It was a little fatty and very tender with no overfishy taste emanating. It was overall an amazing dish that came with lots of rice. The dessert was a little less appetizing. We got strawberry and mango mochi which was ok. It tasted like one of the Trader Joe’s mochi, but the presentation was beautiful and the price wasn’t exorbitant.
Overall Joy Sushi is a must try it provides plenty of good sushi and other entrees like my unagi donburi if sushi isn’t your thing. If you are ever in Mountain View make sure to come to Joy Sushi to enjoy the delicious food, familial service, great interior, and affordable dishes.
Vegetarian options: There are a decent amount of veggie sushi options listed separately on the menu!“

“Most restaurants located next to supermarkets tend to have good food. I give the food 9/10, it would have been a perfect score but the salad was old and still served. It was the brown old, and bitter salad that no one wants to eat. The dressing on the salad was so good gobbled it down.
Parking: Parking is crazy on weekends and during mealtimes“

“This is not dine in restaurant. But a take out place. They share the space with another restaurant. So don't expect to come in to sit & eat. Place is beaten down & looks bit shady. They have cameras for security measure however.
Sushi here is very tasty and not super expensive as well. They give you the food within ten minutes of ordering. There are plenty of options available(for various price points) and would recommend to try.“

“It's a cozy little sushi restaurant. Used to be our favorite place 20yrs ago when I work here. I will say the quality is nice but this is more like American chirashi than Japanese version. The taste is alittle diff. The fish is very fresh but somehow not sweet at all. The Hamachi kama is alittle of a letdown. It used to be grilled to perfection now its like deep fried. It's not as juicy and tender.“

“Best sushi in the bay for sure!! Maybe best sushi in the whole CA. for the price and quality, it was so good. The hand rolls are packed with fish, and the unagi was delicious. They definitely don’t skimp out on good ingredients, and everything was cooked to perfection. The fish was super fresh and plentiful. Would definitely recommend!“

“When we think sushi, we come here and we are never disappointed. The fish is fresh and the rolls are proportioned well. As for the omakase platter, it really is ALL that and more!! Compared to other places that serve ‘chef choice’ sushi, this place wins the prize.
The staff is very friendly and checks on you often. The staff to customer ratio seems higher than other places - perhaps that’s why the service is quick and accurate.
We enjoy our dining experience every time and satisfy our sushi fix!“

“Growing up in Saratoga, there weren’t many casual asian dining places nearby and Sushi Heaven has always been a staple restaurant for my family for weekend night out dinners.
Sushi Heaven is not traditional Japanese, and has a variety of rolls that are fun to choose from and also has great bento boxes.
They also reasonably price Toro and if you’re lucky, you get decent cuts.
They take reservations and are busy during dinner times so call ahead or there is a waiting list.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options“

“This is my absolute favorite spot to get food in downtown Mountain View since it opened! The staff is unbelievably friendly and the service is incredible! Swan who is the manager has taken the time to know my name, has great recommendations from the food and drink menus. Everything about this restaurant is something to write home about. I can’t recommend it enough!“

“This is hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever been to! The udon noodles were thick and chewy, served in a savory broth that warmed my soul. I also tried their gyoza as an appetizer, which were pan-fried to perfection crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The service was attentive without being overbearing, allowing us to enjoy our server meal at our own pace. The overall experience was fantastic; I left feeling satisfied and eager to return!“

“I'm not from San Jose anymore so prices always annoy me. The rolls were large and filling, but I would prefer smaller rolls that were tastier. But the location is great as we stayed at a hotel right down the street. I would visit again!“

“Whenever I’m craving sushi, I know I can always count on Katana! They have a great variety of sushi rolls. The portions are generous and the fish is very fresh. My favorite is the Sunny Roll with mango! Yum!
The service is always wonderful and they are always accommodating to any substitutions. I know I’ll be back to this local favorite!“

“A random, last minute find on a Friday night with no wait and can accommodate a party of two with an infant in a carseat.
Quaint and no frills restaurant with omakase. Our omakase sashimi order was about 107 dollars, a bit pricey and presentation was not very impressive but every bite was so fresh! Their miso soup was quite delightful, better than most miso soup I’ve had.
Kid-friendliness: We brought our infant in a carseat in, placed the carseat on a chair and tucked it between the wall and the table. I see other families with small kids dining comfortably there too.“

“Shaemir was our sever and she did a FANTASTIC job. I had the caterpillar roll and my partner had the lion king roll. Both were great choices! Personally, I recommend the lion king roll as well as the edamame appetizer. The wait time was super quick (as long as you don’t mind eating outside - they do have heaters) and the atmosphere was also great! 10/10 would recommend.“
