“House of Dumplings is an absolute treasure! Their dumplings are incredibly fresh, flavorful, and clearly handmade with care. Every bite is a delight, whether steamed or pan-fried. Beyond the dumplings, their other Chinese dishes are also excellent. This place is a must-visit for authentic and delicious food. Highly, highly recommend!“

“Approved! They pile on the green onions and cilantro; broth was flavorful and not heavy; a balanced bowl (got the signature beef stew noodles). They give you plenty of options - type of noodle, firmness, spice and numbing level, and yes, the ability to opt out on the green onions, etc. Chinese comfort food in a bowl. My kids can’t handle the spice yet so got the items without any heat.“

“Everything about this location I can safely say is so fulfilling. The hand pulled and cut noodles and thicknesses to your liking are simply beyond compare. The broth, the lovely meat that comes in the broth. Just about everything that you could want in a location to enjoy Dao has without question. I was lucky enough to visit this location with my brother and his wife. We were thoroughly impressed and completely blown away by everything, including the truffle and shrimp dumplings along with everything, including the green beans every other side dish that you could possibly want. I am so very excited to try the beef roll because that is one of my particular favorites. When frequenting certain dumpling houses or places with hand pulled noodles. I can certainly say that I will be back here many times over. I cannot believe that this location is open late to help serve people like myself. Definitely a night owl. I simply enjoy the fact that this location by so many different San Leandro institutions can certainly become another one and I cannot wait to get back and have myself a bowl of noodles. I also cannot wait to try the variety of dumplings that I have missed so far. Given that week and only order so much at each instance, I can safely say that this location is just some of the finest that you could hope for and enjoy with family and I certainly hope that you do the same at your next opportunity.“

“The food was authentic and good! Came several times already. The owner and her son cared about their customers and the food.
They didn’t ask for your reviews like other places. I just felt that it’s too good to be hidden and want to help them to promote.“

“Beyond average but missing some to push it to GOAT territory. The dining experience is very Chinese, from the way you order to how they structure the menu to how the dishes are served I feel like I'm back in PRC. Which could be good or bad depending on person. I ordered the signature spicy noodle combo. I agree with other reviewers that the noodles are the weakest link they are way too soft and wimpy. The soup base is good with the distinct spicy profile but the ingredients in there doesn't really get the taste integrated, they all just fell flat. Prices are on the slightly expensive side but portions are big, two people of average appetite could easily share a combo, and they have a condiments aisle you can add cilantro peanuts or whatever unlimited. Kinda weird for the noodles tho since they are already heavily seasoned, it's more of a hotpot thing. But I added some fried peanuts into my noodles nonetheless. Service was OK and vibe is family / locals.“

“I came here with my family on a whim and honestly glad I did. The tofu soup was on point in this rainy day. perfectly rich broth, soft tofu, and just the right amount of spice. Banchan kept coming without even asking. the food portions were way bigger than expected for the price.“

“Came here for a late night dinner around 9pm on the way going home, love that it opened late and was able to sit and dine in. Pretty lively still at the hour we were in. We ordered 3 soup noodle dishes, fried pork bun, chicken with veggie dish and a small pear soup appetizer. Everything was phenomenal and tasty. Would come back for a quick bite in the day. Service was alright.“

“Pho Lan, a true family-run establishment in Fremont, delivers exactly what matters most in Vietnamese cuisine: spectacular, authentic flavor and generous value. While this isn't the spot for a luxurious, white-tablecloth experience, it is hands down the best place to find truly delicious pho and rice dishes in the area.
The primary reason to visit Pho Lan is the food, and they execute it flawlessly. The flavors here are deeply authentic, showcasing the care and tradition that only a family business dedicated to its craft can provide.
The Pho: The star of the show is, naturally, the pho. The broth is rich, complex, and clean—the hallmark of high-quality pho. It’s clear that the broth simmers for hours, resulting in a depth of flavor that many chain restaurants simply cannot replicate. Whether you choose a classic rare steak or brisket combination, the meat is fresh, and the portion size is substantial.
Beyond the Broth: While the pho is a must-try, the kitchen excels across the board. The rice dishes are equally noteworthy, featuring perfectly cooked meats and well-balanced marinades. If you're looking for Vietnamese food that tastes just like the dishes prepared in a traditional home, Pho Lan delivers.
Pho Lan offers excellent value. The portions are notably generous, ensuring you leave completely satisfied. In an age where many restaurants are shrinking servings, Pho Lan maintains a commitment to great portion size, making it a fantastic choice for lunch or dinner without breaking the bank.
It is important to manage expectations regarding the dining environment and service. As a dedicated, family-run operation, the entire focus is on efficiency and getting excellent food to your table quickly.
Ambiance & Service: This is not a restaurant built on trendy decor or overly solicitous service. The atmosphere is simple, casual, and functional. Service is efficient and straightforward, reflecting the priority of the kitchen over the front of house flair. If the quality of the food is your main metric, you will be thrilled. If you expect a high-end, polished dining experience, you might need to adjust your expectations. Pho Lan is an honest, no-frills location dedicated to its culinary mission.
Pho Lan is a Fremont treasure. It’s the kind of local spot that deserves strong community support because they consistently nail the most important element: the food.
For authentic flavors, generous portions, and truly delicious Vietnamese cuisine—from the masterful pho broth to the flavorful rice plates—Pho Lan is highly recommended. Come support this dedicated family business and enjoy some of the best Vietnamese food Fremont has to offer.
This was long due- will post pictures next time I visit them.“

“This cozy breakfast spot specializes in Shanghainese comforts. Service is brisk and no-nonsense. We ordered a few staples — wontons, noodle soups and xiaolongbao — all of them competent and satisfying.
The pork kidney noodle soup is a rarity in the United States, though here the kidney is cut thick and left unstir-fried, so it contributes less flavor to the broth than it could. It is better treated almost as a side than as an integral part of the soup. The xiaolongbao are tasty, if more rustic in appearance than the finely pleated versions served at more polished places like Din Tai Fung.
Still, this is an honest, unfussy restaurant well worth returning to.“

“Highly recommend the signature sauerkraut fish soup. Broth is full of flavor and they give a decent amount of fish slices plus other ingredients. They have an option for two portions in a larger bowl that’s cheaper than ordering two separate portions, if you’re willing to share from the same bowl.“

“I recently started coming back again as they started their wine bar program. Food is always authentic and amazing but happy that they started opening later offering great wines for their wine bar. The owner even came by to offer some amazing wines! One of the few places that is open late in Menlo to hang out in.“

“Hand-pulled pan-fried noodles is one of my favorite dishes. I get it at every restaurant that sells it. This restaurant had the best version of that dish I have ever had, by a considerable margin. I have never written a google restaurant review before, but the food was so good that it motivated me to write one.
It was like every ingredient was the best version of that ingredient and all the ingredients were all put together into one symphony of flavor. I was reminded of the first time I heard the Beatles.“

“Wadaya hasn't left my mind yet. I love that the noodles are thicker than Kajiken. It makes for a chewier bite which I prefer. I'd say the taste is similar to Kajiken but maybe the flavor at Kajiken is a bit better. I definitely like the noodles here more. The absolute star of the show is the tiny scoop of rice they give you at the end to mix in with your extra sauce. I wasn't a believer at first until I actually tried it. Best bite ever. Holy.“

“We definitely recommend Timog Restaurant! Laid back atmosphere and nice ambiance. We had their squid appetizer, bangus sisig, fried lumpia, grilled bangus, kare2 volcano and the humongous todo na halo2. The servings were generous and the staff were Uber friendly. Had a wonderful time! A must visit and will be back to try out their other food. Panalo baby! Taralets punta n rin kau! 😊👍🙌👏🍽️“
“The braised beef rice noodles at this place tastes very good. It's now my favorite and I have it once every week. The store manager is good at doing business. I visit the store nearly weekly, in just a few times he recognizes me and remembers my favorite food already. He is very friendly and trusts his customers (one time I did not carry enough money with me, the manager was nice to work out a good deal for me).
Oh I'd like to leave a minor suggestion today. If the beef stew could be a bit softer it would be perfect.“

“I have tried the pho and beef stew at both the Fremont and the San Jose location, and while they were fine, neither really stood out to me.
The standout is the 1/2 chicken with crispy rice and a fried egg. When the Fremont location first opened, I felt the portion size was noticeably smaller than at the San Jose location. However, I returned about a week ago and was pleasantly surprised by how generous the serving had become. It’s easily large enough to share or take home for another meal.
The crispy rice had the perfect texture, the fried egg was jammy, and the chicken was flavored well. The sauce leans slightly sweeter than savory, but I found it worked really well.
To finish the meal, they served a complimentary slice of their green waffle. My mom and I enjoyed it so much that I asked if they sold them separately and ended up buying a whole one to go.
One thing to keep in mind is that this location closes between 2:00-5:00PM. As someone who prefers eating an early dinner, I’ve wanted to stop by several times only to realize they were closed, so plan accordingly.“

“If you are ever feeling under the weather and want to get something soupy/noodly- this is the spot to be. Ten Seconds will satisfy your soupy/noodly cravings. I love how their signature and simple R1: The Original Crossing Bridge Rice Noodles come in such a cute hot little pot along with little plates of side dishes that you can either opt in or out (also they have corn which is amazing). The pot is very hot so please proceed with caution* The pricing here is very affordable to their portion size and they have variety of choices for you to choose from. I have always enjoy the authentic chicken broth soup because it is very comforting and makes me feel like home. I recommend coming here if you are tired of eating pho because this place have good hot noods“

“The place is clean and bright. The food was delicious and service was prompt and friendly. I love that there is plenty of parking and while the restaurant was about half full while we were there, it was quiet enough for my friend and me to have a good conversation without feeling like we have to shout or lean across the table to hear each other. Will be coming back for sure!“

“Food was good and service was friendly. Our orders came out separately with some time gap in between, probably because we all ordered different types of noodles and there was only one person in the kitchen making the noodles on the spot?

“It's still good as always, provided me witha basic noodle soup. Some saud it's bland, but to me that's the best part, since I can flavor my own soup the way I like it.
I am curious... The meatball flavor has always been very consistent, but it has been hit-miss the past few months.“

“Great stuff! Chinese Vietnamese style pho served with a ginger scallion sauce which really makes the dish. You can pick from 4 different kinds of noodles.
