“This Panda Express is consistently slammed, and if you drop in over the weekend, brace yourself for a line that snakes toward the door.
The staff behind the counter deserves credit—they clearly hustle and push to keep things moving as fast as humanly possible. The real bottleneck is usually the customers. After waiting twenty minutes in a massive queue with the entire steam table right in front of their eyes, people still reach the glass and suddenly act like they’ve never seen orange chicken before in their lives.
Mobile ordering can be a bit of a gamble depending on the volume. I’ve placed pickup orders four times on the days following a Dodgers win—when the $5 Panda plate promo hits and the kitchen gets absolutely blitzed. Out of those four runs, my order was ready waiting for me twice, while the other two visits required another 10 to 15 minutes of waiting by the register.
Despite the chaos and the rush, the food itself remains remarkably reliable. The chow mein is fresh, the honey walnut shrimp is hot, and the flavors are identical every single visit. We originally came to Chinatown to eat at the other famous place down the street from here, but there was a 2 hour wait there and we needed to eat and get going to the Dodger game! That’s when Google came to the rescue and we found Jade Wok!! We ordered fried rice, chow mein, spare ribs, kung-pow chicken, house beef and all were very delicious!! While I love to share my experience with others, I am sometimes shocked at how people use their "power of the word" to down-rate amazing places because of minor incidents (in my all-time favorite​ restaurant Le Petit Four on Sunset Plaza the owner was even called a racist as he refused to toast the (free) bread in his packed restaurant - they simply do not offer toasted bread, as no French​ place does, as I may add). Or I just read "Chicken piccata so over-salted I hope the dog enjoys the leftovers tomorrow, I brought home most of the dish." Did they speak to their service? How could the restaurant learn that something was wrong when patrons even have their leftovers​ boxed to take home? As a dog owner,​ I want to take the writer and shake him or her really bad and say "You give over-salted food to your dog? Anyone with a bit of brain understands this is a horrible idea...​ I hope you agree.So If I had a say on this portal, I would offer just to see the ratings of my friends. “I came for the beef noodle soup and wasn't disappointed. The broth was rich and comforting, while the beef was tender enough to cut with a spoon. I thought the portion of noodles could have been slight bigger specially for the price. Still, the flavors are good enough that I'd come back and try some of the other dishes“

“I’m back at this xiao long bao spot in Baldwin Park again! The restaurant has that super down-to-earth, old-school Chinese restaurant feel that instantly feels familiar. The main point is — they’ve been making xiao long bao in LA for years, and everything is still handmade by the aunties, not pre-made. If you want a giant crab roe soup dumpling, this is the place I think of!

The giant crab roe soup dumpling comes out steaming hot and is seriously huge — it almost fills the whole steamer 🤣. I like to slowly sip the soup through a straw first, then open it up and eat the rest. The crab roe flavor is rich and fragrant, and it’s so satisfying while it’s still hot. Even editing the video made me crave it again!

We also ordered crab roe xiao long bao and sweet-style pork xiao long bao. The wrappers are thin and there’s plenty of soup inside. The slightly sweet pork filling feels very Jiangnan-style, and I personally really like that little touch of sweetness.

The Wuxi-style pork ribs looked so appetizing too — tender meat with a sweet, savory sauce that goes perfectly with rice. The Liangxi crispy eel was another specialty I really liked. It’s crispy, fragrant, and super snackable — not something you see at every restaurant.

For something warm and comforting, we also had a bowl of five-spice beef rice noodles, with your choice of spicy or non-spicy, plus a plate of garlic pea shoots to round out the meal.

I also noticed they have these cute little training chopsticks 🥢, which are perfect for kids or anyone who’s still learning how to use chopsticks. Such a thoughtful touch haha.

Why get angry and keep screaming when customers don't understand? The lady who was the server was very friendly when I told her my mom was looking for wonton soup and she said that they did have some. It was delicious and very fresh. I got a plate with chow mein and 2 items of choice which were good in portion size. Hands down one of the best orange chicken I have had. I also had bbq pork which was also good. The thing that blew my mind from taste was there smoked porked ribs and their squash with green beans. The ribs were amazing almost like if they specialize in BBQ. Location was clean. “I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“
