“Unexpected find in a quiet little plaza in West Hollywood—easily the best unagi don I’ve had in SoCal. Two styles, both incredible, but the hitsumabushi stole the show. Could’ve eaten three more bowls without hesitation. 😋“

“Budonoki is a very special place. Food is innovative and exceptionally delicious. Wide assortment of flavors, ingredients and textures. We tried an assortment of plates and all were delicious. Excellent service. A warm and inviting environment where guests are treated like family.“

“Everything was perfect, fave drink was lychee martini and in the morning strawberry matcha. For dinner we loved the rib eye, ceviche, tuna tartar and chicken the most. The Caesar salad was unique and I really enjoyed it. Miso eggplant also great! We were so full and didn’t think we could eat any more but The sorbet at the end was delicious, super light and refreshing. Service was friendly, atmosphere very pretty.“

“I was astonished at how low the prices are for the food quality. One of the cheapest LA restaurants for this quality.
Highlights: dan dan udon, corn on the cob, pork belly taco (SO good for only $6), cod (perhaps best cod I've ever had), wagyu meatballs (sauce is delicious; wish the meat was a little more flavorful)
Wouldn't get again: the fried chicken was meh (seemingly low-quality meat); desserts were disappointing -- ube cheesecake had too much of an offputting sweet potato texture and idk if it even had cheese; Creme brûlée was okay.
One service complaint is we weren't told the meatballs pan was SCORCHING hot and my friend burned his finger on it.“

“I’m from Japan, and the food at this place rivals most good restaurants in Japan. The sushi/sashimi quality is out of this world and the sushi chefs behind the counter are generous with the cuts of fish. Also a really great mix of appetizers, shareable plates, and bigger family-style meals with high quality meats and fish. The sake list is also very high quality and not too expensive. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to eat some authentic, high quality Japanese food whilst in Little Tokyo.“

“I've been a few times. I don't think I've encountered a dish I didn't like. The yakitori selection is solid. My favorites are chicken skin and hearts. If you see gizzard skins on the socials menu, definitely add an order. Also, the Mac'n' cheese is delicious. Udon, tempura and sushi are solid as well.
Parking: There is parking validation“

“I’ve tried lots of ramen before and by far this is one of the best broths I’ve tasted. It was so creamy and full of flavor. I got the red miso ramen and it was great. The other ramens were also full of flavor and doesn’t have a water downed flavor. The staff was so freindly and nice. It gives a very personal and homey feel. Everything was nice and clean including the bathroom! They also give these free puff deserts that are filled with strawberry creme and it was a phenomenal ending. One of the staff even gave us free pocky’s as a small new year festivities.
This is definitely a lowkey, hidden spot that’s worth a try. Would recommend the ramen any day. I will be going back!“

“We had a good dinner here. We ordered miso soup, seaweed salad, salmon sushi, mixed tempura, spicy tuna roll and a rainbow roll. Everything was very good. The seafood was fresh and had great flavor. We really have no complaints regarding the food. Our server was lovely and they were very attentive. The downside - it's definitely on the expensive side and the atmosphere is okay.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar in Marina Del Rey, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly attentive and made sure we felt welcome throughout our visit.
The menu at Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar is extensive and offers a wide variety of options, catering to both sushi enthusiasts and those who prefer cooked dishes. We started with the Garlic Edamame, which was perfectly seasoned and a great way to kick off our meal. The highlight, however, was the sushi. The Spicy Tuna Roll and the Yellowtail Carpaccio were absolute standouts. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were well-balanced and delicious.
One of the unique features of this restaurant is their sake selection. The staff were knowledgeable and helped us choose a sake that perfectly complemented our meal. It added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.
The ambiance is trendy yet intimate, making it a perfect spot for both casual outings and special occasions. The outdoor seating area is a nice touch, offering a pleasant view and a relaxed vibe.
Overall, Nonstop Sushi & Sake Bar exceeded my expectations. The combination of high-quality food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit in Marina Del Rey. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon“

“Amazing food, excellent service, and a great experience overall. We were seated quickly on a Friday night for a party of four. My partner and I had been here before, so this was our 2nd time here and the service was just as fast as our 1st time there! Our orders were taken quickly, and drinks and food came out very fast, which was nice. The food looked amazing and tasted even better! You will definitely need to order at least one of everything on the menu because there are no bad dishes here. We will be back very soon hopefully because this is definitely the best Izakaya experience we’ve had in LA!“

“Pretty decent yakitori spot. Think its a little overhyped. Ordered a couple of skewers. Nothing too memorable. Perhaps it's the skewers I selected.
Ordered Mexican jumbo shrimp, hamachi, mushrooms, shishito Peppers, blackened fried crab roll, and broccoli.
Not certain I like this place enough to return.“

I guarantee you’ll have an incredible meal here. If the carrot karkiage is on the menu please get it. Same with the beef shank & bok choy. And for dessert if you see the carrot & buckwheat cake congratulations because oh my god your life is gonna be different forever. What an incredible experience! Cant wait to go back“

“Hidden gem. Noticeably high quality ingredients and great service. Even my Korean mom, who is germaphobic and difficult to impress, enjoyed her meal very much. Will be coming here again.
We ordered the oyster/uni (!), the baked scallop roll (!), the chirashi bowl, the sea cucumber, and the spicy japan scallop roll. Everything tasted fantastic and we didn't leave a single grain of rice.
In my opinion, it's rare to encounter Japanese food in America that I end up loving. Every raw ingredient looked and tasted fresh. Uni here was creamy, the green tea was well-steeped, and the sesame seeds on the spicy japan roll were aromatic.
I highly recommend that you come here for a special occasion or whenever you crave extremely FRESH Japanese food.“

“A sleek, modern space with a rectangular bar at its center, a focal point where all the action unfolds. It is where all patrons gather around. While the portions may lean towards the petite side, the flavors are on point.
I kicked things off with the albacore crudo style sashimi. The tender tuna, bathed in tangy blood orange vinaigrette and topped with crunchy chili garlic, was a fresh, flavorful start. The spicy yaki edamame—a semi-unique twist on the classic—was pan-fried and tossed in a citrus pepper paste and soy sauce. It turned a simple side into something I couldn’t stop popping.
The shrimp & vegetable tempura was crispy and satisfying—tempura done right. Light, crispy, and perfectly paired with a dipping sauce that hit all the right notes. It’s exactly what you want when you think of tempura, with shrimp that snaps and veggies that add a pleasant variety. Then there’s the mongo ika tempura, where tender squid gets the tempura treatment. If you’ve never had squid tempura like me, this is your chance to be pleasantly surprised. The spiced salt and a squeeze of lemon added a bright, balanced finish to every bite.
The gindara saikyo yaki was one of the highlights. The black cod, marinated in saikyo miso, was so tender, the flavor so deep, leaving you only with the wish that it came in a larger portion. The ao-nori bagged potato might just be the most playful dish on the menu. Served in a bag like an elevated snack from your childhood, but better. The novelty of the bag only adds to the experience.
Finally, the ribeye ku maze soba—this is the dish you come here for. Cold soba noodles in a savory broth, topped with slices of ribeye and a poached egg, it’s hearty and satisfying. The noodles were cooked just right, and the broth tied everything together. To wash it all down, the lemonade soda and a yuzu soda were refreshingly crisp palate cleansers between bites. They’re like a cool breeze on a warm day—just what you need to round out the meal.
SOBAR is a great spot for a casual and delicious meal. The dishes may be on the smaller side, but the flavors are anything but. The service is solid and efficient, ensuring that your dining experience is as seamless as the restaurant’s modern design. If you’re feeling hungry, order a little extra—your appetite will thank you "soba" much!“

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had an incredible dining experience largely thanks to our server and general manager, Savior. He made us feel welcome and truly immersed us in the culture behind the cuisine. Each dish was insanely delicious thoughtfully made and presented to perfection! The sashimi and any skewer on the menu are a must.
Savior took the time to explain the menu in a way that honored the traditions for each dish. His passion for the food and the overall experience made our meal feel special.
I can’t recommend him and this restaurant enough. If you’re looking for a fantastic meal paired with genuine hospitality, you have to try Taberu!“
