“Love Note from the Bride: Nick and I planned a destination wedding for 115 of our closest friends and family. While I was hoping for sunshine, planning for a possible light sprinkle… what I, our guests, and our vendors did not plan or expect.. was for— was a MONSOON on our wedding day! I don’t mean to say it just rained… I mean, it literally POURED. There were even flash flood warnings! Every single guest and vendor was drenched from head to toe. They say rain on your wedding day is supposed to be good luck, and ours started this day with our vendors. To the ENTIRE MEMOIRS TEAM, we don’t even know where to start, except by saying THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Your entire team kept a smile on their face and a positive attitude throughout the entire day! Every single person, staff, chef, bartender, not one single person’s hard work went unnoticed. Everyone was selfless in walking back and forth from our tent to the kitchen and making sure Nick, I, and our wedding guests were their top priority. Not only did they ensure the food stayed warm and dry, but it was DELICIOUS!!! We decided on family style and the memoirs team even let Nick and I help put out some of the first platters to the tables, as a nice surprise to our guests! They also let us surprise our guests and get behind the bar to bartend during happy hour!! Our guests LOVED that!! From initial reach out and partnership with our wedding planner Carly, to food tasting, planning, prep, execution and even follow up after our wedding, our entire experience with Memoirs was INCREDIBLE. We are so blessed to have had them on our team for our special day. Not only are they passionate about their food and service, but you can tell just how much of a family they are, and how much they care about their clients! We are SO lucky to have had them help us celebrate our big, wet day!!! Love Note from the Groom: Memoirs brought their A game to our wedding and it RAINED at an out door venue. They literally could not have been more dedicated to us. They set up all day in the rain, they cooked in the rain, they served in the rain, they cleared in the rain and they did it with smiles on their faces the whole time. The food is all Hawaii local, and it was AMAZING. We did a family style service and the food came out beautiful and delicious! We could not have possibly imagined a better team to put together a hillside table service in the POURING RAIN! A special shout out to Taylor the bartender for saving the groom the last shot of his favorite tequila!“

“I went to several great poke places during my trip to Hawaii, and this one was by far the best. The salad was fresh and the dressing was delicious. They say they don't use frozen fish, so the tuna sashimi was so fresh and the seasoning was perfect, making it the best. Even my 11-year-old son enjoyed it very much!

“If I could give a 10 star review, I would! As we were coming from out of the country to Oahu for our wedding, we hired Hale Aina Caterers based on a recommendation from our venue. We were a bit hesitant at first with not being able to try any food beforehand, however the menu looked mouthwatering, the customer service was friendly and we felt the pricing was quite reasonable so we trusted the process and booked them. If I said the food was amazing, it would be an understatement. Everything was prepared perfectly and complimented our setting and intimate wedding group (which came with a few dietary restrictions). “A co-worker is always willing to pick up lunch for us … This time it was from Nippon Bento & Catering on Waiakamilo Road, near Hart Street. Their menu is vast, with 38 bentos, starting at $7.75, and 4 donburi bowls for $8.75. Two of us ordered #33, the Deluxe Bento with Korean Chicken, Meat Jun, and Stir-fried vegetables. It came with rice, topped with Furikake, two pieces of takuwan, edamame, long rice, and a small container of sauce for the meat jun. All for $15.75, plus tax. Brown rice is an option for $0.50 more.

The bento is hearty, and I couldn’t finish all of the rice. My issue with my bento was that the Korean chicken was soggy; I expect Korean chicken to be nice and crispy. It could be due to the time it was sitting in the bento with the cover on as we’ve experienced similar issues with fried food in plastic containers … The heat of the food creates “steam”, which softens anything crispy.

To me, my Deluxe Bento for $15.75 is a valid alternative to the Z**P** from you know where that costs between $16.15 and $18.65, depending on protein options. Recommended!“

“Has very friendly staff in the operations office and was very helpful with all the questions I had. The facility is well secured and has their employees in their best interest. They even provide shuttle service to and from the facility to the nearest bus stop for those who don’t have a car.“

“Reliably good, reasonably priced (cold and hot) sandwiches, soups, and salads including leafy greens and pasta salads. Friendly and efficient service, too. The combos are a nice deal - I like getting a soup + salad or soup + sandwich. They also cater my office's meetings quite often; they can cater both breakfast (pastries and breakfast sandwiches, plus coffee) and lunch (mostly sandwiches for us). Some of my coworkers have said some of their catered sandwiches a bit boring after a while, so you may consider specifically requesting the types of sandwiches you prefer.“
