“Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. They respected us when we were speaking to the group and quietly took orders in the background. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant.”

“We came here for dinner tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The best way to describe our meal is “elevated comfort food!” Everything we ordered, came out beautifully plated, very quick service, even with a full house, and very attentive staff. We ordered the spiced carrots, naan, brisket, and pork belly. All of them were delicious, and my favorite by far was the pork belly, perfectly seared and paired with an excellent sauce. The berry spritzer cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet, dessert was just right, overall fantastic experience. We will definitely come back!”

“We received their flyer in the mail showcasing some great-looking pizzas, pub staples, and tacos de harina. We’d never heard of Cansino’s before, but figured we’d give it a shot. Man, am I glad we did — because they’ve quickly become one of our local favorites! For years, Lou Malnati's held the crown for our favorite Chicago-style deep dish, but Cansino’s has officially taken the top spot. Their cheese blend is unbelievably creamy, stretchy, and flavorful. It’s their own house blend of California cheeses, and it reminds us of the rich, melty Wisconsin brick used in Detroit-style pies — maybe a touch creamier and a bit less salty. The sauce is hearty and well-balanced, loaded with herbs and neither too sweet nor too tart. The crust has just the right firmness and flavor, and their sausage is leaner than Lou’s but packs a bold fennel kick. We still enjoy other deep dish places, but when a craving hits, Cansino’s is our first call. We’re picky about onion rings, but Cansino’s nails it: crispy seasoned breading, and tender perfectly cooked rings of onion. The fries are also really solid, and their fried mushrooms were an unexpected hit. I’ve tried a couple of their tortas too — all were tasty, with well-seasoned beef, flavorful beans, and nicely grilled fajita-style veggies. The bread held up great. I’ve got my eye on their paninos in the near-future. The staff is super friendly and always ready with a great suggestion or two. The place is clean, bright, and well kept. Prices are fair for the area, everything we’ve ordered has been ready on time, and there's plenty of parking right in front. Their entrance is easy to access, and they’re located right across the street from the Fort Sheridan Metra Station — which makes them a perfect stop before or after a commute. Looks like their breakfast would be perfect before a train ride! We’ll definitely keep exploring more of the menu and will update with more photos as we go.”

“The service was fine. Our server was polite and responsive. The atmosphere is casual. As there are lots of hard surfaces, the noise level is somewhat high. The food was good. The "black truffle" barrata is a ball of cheese on top of some stewed green vegetables. I detected no evidence of any truffles in the dish. No truffle aroma or flavor. Seafood pasta primavera was tasty with fresh seafood.”

“How crazy is this. Going to Sunset Foods I saw this sign in the window of a storefront to the West. Fortunately I found BRIGHT BOWLS owned and operated by a Highland Parker named Lindsay. I can’t describe the ambiance and wonderful products. You need to experience on your own. My favorite so far is the LoveABowl. Enjoy on site or to go. Get Bright Butter, Bright Granola and Bright Smiles. Tell the staff Larry sent you. Hmmmm”

“This is a takeout and catering business in Highland Park. The fried chicken, cornbread, cole slaw and corn bread were all very good. The baked beans are the best baked beans I have ever had! “This is probably one of the worst food pics I've ever taken only because I knew how super delicious everything was going to be and I took it in a hurry to dive in! My husband and I travel through the area a few times a year on the way to see a medical specialist. We discovered this restaurant about 4 years ago and the roasted Greek chicken dinner is ALWAYS a homerun! You know how you hyper fixate on a certain meal, but eventually it loses its shine so to speak, well I keep thinking that will happen with this chicken. But it is consistently amazing. You get a nice big salad or soup, rice with Greek potatoes, freshly cooked vegetables, half or whole chicken, (the whole chicken order only comes with the sides for one like the half chicken, but it could easily feed two) warm pita and a lemon wedge. I happy dance from the first sprinkle of squeezed lemon over my plate on through the last bite. We always have enough to bring home for lunches as well. Such good food that really makes you feel good. Friends back home always ask if I had the chance to stop by during our trips because they know what a highlight it is for us.
The atmosphere can be a little loud and echoey at times. I had an injury that makes bright lights and loud spaces pretty painful at times. When we can't eat in, we order for carry out and picnic in the very nearby, super beautiful park with great facilities, Sunset Woods Park. Greek chicken in a beautiful park? **Chef's kiss**”

“When I arrived at LAX late at night, I was disappointed to find that all the food options were closed. Hungry and unsure of what to get, I stumbled upon a Farmer’s Fridge vending machine and decided to give it a try. I chose the chicken Caesar salad, not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, the flavors were well-balanced, and it tasted far better than I anticipated. It was a convenient and satisfying option, and I’d definitely grab one again in a pinch!”

“I came to a private event at Shaevitz. The staff was very kind and welcoming, the food was fantastic. The brisket and burgers are very flavorful. Shaevitz is conveniently located in downtown Highland Park with plenty of parking in the area. Supporting a conservative Kosher business is definitely a plus.

“We heard about this place from friends who said we shouldn’t be deterred by the reviews (which are dated). Our friends couldn’t have been more right - Excellent food at excellent prices. Delivery was faster than the quoted time and the food was so hot we needed to wait a few minutes. Definitely our “go to” Chinese place. Chow fun and moo shu pork are excellent. Great egg rolls too.”

The vibe in this place is on point—classy but not stuffy, and the staff? Totally on it. They made us feel like VIPs the whole night. Every dish we tried was a home run, and the portions were seriously generous. Plus, the cocktails were killer, like, we’re talking next-level good.

There are other, larger restaurants with Asian cuisine, but Jade has been a favorite for several years now.Features: Not sure if they are yet open for seating inside post-Covid. Their "stop outside the door for pickup" policy during Covid was very effective.

Parking: Limited parking in front of the location, but a larger lot is available next door behind the neighboring building to the east.”

“I want to thank Tony for bringing the finest and most delicious Szechuan cuisine to the North Shore. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!”
