“Bluegrass Restaurant is a wonderful, family-owned restaurant. We have been ordering takeout and eating in since we came to Highland Park three years ago. The owners take pride in managing the restaurant on a daily basis. They prioritize customer service, great food, and a warm, welcoming experience. Last night, they hosted the Highland Park/Highwood Professional Moms group. We had only expected 15 women to attend, but 25 women ended up coming. The owners and the staff were AMAZING. They brought over additional chairs. They provided us with top-notch service, including separate checks. They respected us when we were speaking to the group and quietly took orders in the background. I can't say enough nice things about this restaurant.”

I suppose taste could feel unusual for the people unfamiliar with Silk Road cuisine, but that's the beauty of places like that: you can expand your taste without actual travel.”

“We came here for dinner tonight and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The best way to describe our meal is “elevated comfort food!” Everything we ordered, came out beautifully plated, very quick service, even with a full house, and very attentive staff. We ordered the spiced carrots, naan, brisket, and pork belly. All of them were delicious, and my favorite by far was the pork belly, perfectly seared and paired with an excellent sauce. The berry spritzer cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet, dessert was just right, overall fantastic experience. We will definitely come back!”

“The service was fine. Our server was polite and responsive. The atmosphere is casual. As there are lots of hard surfaces, the noise level is somewhat high. The food was good. The "black truffle" barrata is a ball of cheese on top of some stewed green vegetables. I detected no evidence of any truffles in the dish. No truffle aroma or flavor. Seafood pasta primavera was tasty with fresh seafood.”

“How crazy is this. Going to Sunset Foods I saw this sign in the window of a storefront to the West. Fortunately I found BRIGHT BOWLS owned and operated by a Highland Parker named Lindsay. I can’t describe the ambiance and wonderful products. You need to experience on your own. My favorite so far is the LoveABowl. Enjoy on site or to go. Get Bright Butter, Bright Granola and Bright Smiles. Tell the staff Larry sent you. Hmmmm”

“Fortunate to snag a week one reservation at the Barn’s additional location in Amy Morton’s home turf Highland Park. There were a few minor week one issues not worth detailing and most importantly, both our server (Sharolanna?) and Morton were fully engaged in learning and adjust mode.

We started with a little gem salad - I think a different lettuce was used - that was a solid intro including bacon and anchovies. They offered to pre plate it into two portions. We also went for the generously-sized shrimp cocktail, the sauce for that was very tasty but didn’t completely overwhelm.

As mains we had a crab cake and a flat iron steak, with a side of mushrooms. We really wanted to order all the sides, they all sound delicious. The couple at the next table remarked that the mac&cheese side is fantastic. The crab cake was perfect as was the steak. I ordered medium rare and it had a lovely outside char and red center as expected. Bernaise sauce paired well as did the mushrooms, which were flavorful and simple.

The room is a little loud but that may also have been a function of the particular table. It is steakhouse sexy with exposed brick and wood paneling, including the ceiling. The bar includes a framed counter facing into the room, so it feels like there’s a bit of a scene in a good way going on there. And like the Evanston location, the bar design itself is rich and striking. We can’t wait to go in on a weeknight and grab happy hour $1 oysters along with a burger or Monday special prime rib sandwich.

They have something for everyone on their menu - from Greek gyros and Italian pastas to Buffalo wings and burgers - and all of it (which I have tried) is delicious! Out of this world! Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and bursting with flavor. You can tell they really know what they’re doing back there.

The vibe in this place is on point—classy but not stuffy, and the staff? Totally on it. They made us feel like VIPs the whole night. Every dish we tried was a home run, and the portions were seriously generous. Plus, the cocktails were killer, like, we’re talking next-level good.

If you’re in Chicago and craving a seriously good steak, The Palm is the spot. Trust me, it’s legendary. You’ll leave stuffed and already planning your next visit!”

“I want to thank Tony for bringing the finest and most delicious Szechuan cuisine to the North Shore. I live downtown and have visited his restaurants in Chinatown and Michigan Ave. The food is exception each and every time I go to either location. When the "coming soon" sign popped up in Highland Park, I could not have been more thrilled, considering the food at our local chinese restaurants refuse to raise the bar on their food. There is no better Szechuan restaurant in the Chicago area or beyond. The food, the staff, and the service are all exceptional and executed with perfection and passion. This has been the most anticipated opening on the northshore for a reason. Lao is simply unbeatable. I love it love it LOVE IT!!!!!”
