“What can I say: the bakery, food, and drink offerings here are outstanding and the owner is incredibly friendly and clearly passionate about what she's doing.

You really can't go wrong with any of the grab and go cake, cupcake, or pastry items. We've gotten many of them, and we've also gotten special order cakes from here that have been wonderful. Their breakfast burritos (vegetarian or not) are a great quick breakfast option. The quiches (which are relatively new) are exceptional. The hibiscus agua fresca is a lovely refreshing drink for a hot day.

I hope this place stays here for a long time because its popularity has added liveliness to the Roger Williams area.“

“Was at Port Clinton Art Fair, had just gotten Italian ice, and saw these beautiful croissants out of the corner of my eye. I quickly did an about face. “oh my gosh, Hewn is so cool – – such inventive and hearty and wholesome and beautiful flavor combinations – – I especially love what they do with fruit and nuts. I’m not surprised at all that their holiday special offerings sell out so quickly – – This is a special kind of bakery – – not too refined as to only have the sweetest and most delicate of desserts – – but more of a chefs kind of place – – you know the ingredients are going to be the finest out there. My only quibble is the inflexibility with the vegetarian sandwiches in their refrigerator – – the staff would not make me a fresh sandwich. But this is a minor quibble. I really do recommend them without reservation.“

The milk chocolate was just okay, not the best because milk chocolate doesn’t balance out the cookie. That’s why crumbl chocolate chip is bad. Semi-sweet chips are always the better choice! “FYI- don’t take photos. I got into trouble for taking a picture. Wish they had a sign on the door that read “No pictures taking allowed”. Their food is very natural flavor that isn’t artificial anything. No high fructose corn syrup or anything super rich with flavor. To me everything tasted dull. I tried the brownies and they weren’t anything I would indulge in again. very light and natural. I did like the macaroons, those were excellent. I will definitely be buying them again. We spent $185 and pre-ordered our food for a mother’s day gift. We had to come and pick it up which was over an hour drive. But it’s the only place I know that makes 100% Organic since whole foods sold out to Amazon.“

“I recently visited this spot and tried the Nova Lox Bagel. While the bagel itself was fresh and well-toasted, the salmon was a letdown. Nova lox is typically known for being less salty than regular smoked salmon, but in this case, it was overly salty and overwhelmed the other flavors. The toppings, like cream cheese, capers, and onions, were well-balanced, but the saltiness of the salmon really detracted from the overall experience.

I also decided to try the apricot cookie, but that turned out to be a mistake. I was surprised to learn it cost nearly $5—far more than I expected for a single cookie. Unfortunately, the taste was disappointing; it was so unpalatable that I couldn’t even finish it. The texture was dense and off-putting, and the apricot flavor was barely there. It felt like a waste of money, and I left feeling dissatisfied.

The prices were reasonable for the bagel, but the quality didn’t fully match my expectations. As for the cookie, it was overpriced and not worth trying again. Overall, a mixed experience—there’s potential, but the execution fell short.“

“Very easy to work with! Our reception venue set up our wedding cake through The Baking Institute. It was easy to set up an appointment and select our tasting menu. When we arrived, things were prepared and it didn’t take much time from start to finish to taste, select the flavor, and choose the design. The cake looked beautiful and tasted great too! “I am now in love & have found my new little favorite bakery. When I walked in I thought it was the cutest little shop ever. So bright & clean. So many cute little gift items, even for your pampered pooch. I bought 2 dozen variety mini bundts and they were sooooo delicious and very moist. The cream cheese frosting was out of the world.
