“The best chinese restaurant in the area and Mongolian beef is charred, more Korean way and is so yummy. Only major bummer is that their portion sizes when dining in have dramatically gotten smaller over the past few years and we've been coming here for a long time.“

I usually get BBQ pork, lo mien, salt fish, wonton soup and crab rangoon... all just perfectly good. They aren't too oily as so many other Chinese restaurants. The price is not expensive at all and dishes are huge.

“This is a popular place and it is well managed. It has an extensive menu for diverse tastes. Please be aware that portions are huge. The two dishes we ordered for both of us could have easily served four persons. The low mein with shrimp was especially good. The fried rice dish with fish was very average. This restaurant was only about a 15 minute walk from our hotel and that was a + for us.“

My boyfriend came from Birmingham Alabama and I brought him here to show him a good time, we arrived at 7:30 we had our drinks, we waitied over 2 hours for our dinner, we seen guest that came in after us and there food was brought out. “This was my first time in Glencoe to watch a show at Writer’s Theater, and I stopped by this place for a meal before the show. It seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in the entire town and also one of the few places both open at night and relatively affordable.

My friend and I ordered the Walnut Shrimp Special and Sauteed Green Beans. We were told it would take 30 minutes, so we sat inside to wait, and the food came out right on time and piping hot. You can’t dine in the restaurant though, as they don’t have a dining license.

9 times out of 10, Chinese takeout will always hit for me, and Shanghai Garden was no exception. The green beans were flavorful and well-sauteed. The walnut shrimp had a nice crispy texture, tangy taste, and also came with broccoli and crispy noodle pieces.

The portions are large for the price and they also included a large box of rice with our order. For just $15 per person, we had a good amount of leftovers. Overall great value, tasty food, generous portions, friendly service— I would love to return if I’m in the area again!

I am a FAN of chinese food, but no where around suburbs and chicago will you find such FRESH food! Veggies are perfectly done, meat is perfectly cooked! Sauce is amazing taste! I had their Happy Family Dish , Chicken fried rice and Khan Pau Chicken .
