“We had a fabulous dinner last night at Chicago Kalbi with Cummins Peru, Komat'su, and the VPs from Antimina copper mine.
Such a great place, where you cook the wagyu & kobe beef at your table. The food was delicious ?
Isao Tozuka, the chef and his wife Chiyo-san, are fabulous hosts, very friendly, and really happy to help and show you how things are do e.
I would definitely recommend coming here. It's a unique place. Make sure you book though ad it can be busy.“

“If you're looking for a fun place to let loose, Green Light is the place to go! They have private karaoke rooms, so you don't have to feel self conscious while belting out your favorite boy band's top hits! Woody is a very welcoming bartender and has some fun secret drinks you'll have to be sure to ask about! Highly recommend this Northside gem.“

“Amazing place. Pricey but the quality and taste are equal to none – no other Korean BBQ place in the area can compete on those fronts, and I've been to multiple. The servers are always really attentive and nice too, I just really enjoy the place as a whole.“

“We were so impressed with this place! We were craving Korean food and felt so glad to have stumbled upon this authentic restaurant in Niles/Morton Grove.
Everything looked so good on the menu that we ended up over ordering with 4 dishes for 3 people: Jokbal (boiled pig trotters), Seafood Pajeon, Gopchang Jeongul (beef intestine spicy stew) and fried chicken wings. The platters looked just like the menu pictures, and everything was so flavorful and tasted so authentic as if it was a home cooked meal. We definitely could've just ordered the pajeon and jokbal and we would have been stuffed.
Jokball was tender and fresh, nicely thin slices. The seafood pancake by itself was great, crispy on the edges with the right amount of mixed seafood (not just batter). Gopchang jeongul was the highlight to the meal - savory and not overbearing spicy. Fried chicken wings were pretty good, too. This was an amazing, cozy meal.
On top of the great meal, the hostess/owner was so accommodating and kind! She gave food explanations and checked in on us often to ensure we had everything. I cannot wait to come back to try other dishes!

“I absolutely love this place and their food is amazing! I’ve tried a couple dishes but my favorite is their beef bulgogi and their kimchi soup. I’ve never been disappointed here and the people that work here are always super friendly. They give a comfortable, family-like, vibe and it makes the experience even better. 11/10 recommend!!“

“Growing up in the area, I noticed a new Korean restaurant opened and been wanting to try for a while! My best friend and I dined in for dinner. We ordered the 2 different options of boneless chicken (soy garlic and original flavor) and bulgogi kimchi fried rice, and they all were flavorful! We were given complimentary pickled radish! The food came out quickly, and the staff were super friendly and kind! I really like the idea of the self service stations so you are able to get what you need without waiting on the staff to get you utensils and etc so your food comes out faster and as soon as it's made! The restaurant is super clean and quite cozy!“

“I've been to many Korean BBQ's within the states and I have to say this was the best customer service we received. This place is pricey for the small portions you get. I'd definitely come back for the service tho.“

“Kim’s home cooking is low key the best Korean restaurant in Chicago! The side dishes are all fresh! I will say the spicy vegetable pork dish was as good as it was in Korea! And the spicy chicken wings are amazing here! If you get a chance check Kim’s home cooking out! You will not be disappointed! On a side note there is free parking so it makes it even better!“

“the services was so good, we arrived on Saturday around 4:30-5 and easily got a table for 3. The server was so kind and helpful with the menu. We tried the bibimbap, the fried chicken with the sweet sauce, and the kim-ra appetizer! It was all so delicious and we loved it so much!“

“been here a few times, each is better experience that the last, attempt to try most of their items on menu. So far, my favorite is their Mango smoothies with cloud cheese, as drink. Their cloud cheese is really good and a balance of salty taste with the sweetness of the mango, the tapioca in the drinks is plentiful but not overpowering the water content. I had it in other Chinatown restaurants, some had too many tapiocas that my teeth were tired chewing them. Cuckoo is not. Their Don (Japanese rice bowls) and their bibimbap (Korean rice bowls) are excellent. Have not decide which is better because each have their own uniqueness and tastes; I had 2 types of their bibimbap before and only 1 type of their Don. So far, I am leaning towards the Don but there is excellent amount of veggie in their Bibimbap, which is ideal for weigh concise person. Wish they have a loyal customer rewards style of drinks incentives, much like some restaurants, for example, buy 9 and get 1 free drink, or some % off after 5 drink purchases, and give customers an advertisable nice pocket size reward card to keep track of their purchases. That may also work with food item purchases as well. Crossing my fingers that this may happen soon. With summer in Chicago, cool refreshing drinks is ideal and as loyal customers, return for more drink purchases with rewards will be even better.“

“Food was pretty good! One of the better chicken sandwiches i've had.
All sauces were great: had spicy soy & kbbq
Their kimchi fries were good as well. Got a strawberry smoothie, it was fresh & hit the spot.
The service was a little lacking, but it may have been a newer server.
Bathroom does need some cleaning & faucet is broken.“

“My family and I came here a couple days ago for the first time. The kimchi pancake and army stew soup was really good! I love how crispy the kimchi pancake was. The army stew soup was also the perfect spice level too. Definitely will come back here again! Service was great but didn’t really check up on us often to ask about water or refilling it.
I also love how they play kpop in the restaurant! It makes the atmosphere very fun and lively!“

“If you’re checking the reviews to see which spot is best to eat at I recommend you give this place a shot.
I’ve tried almost every spot outside of the chicken spot in the front and I have to say that what a dumpling is by far my favorite. Reminds me of my grandmas and mother’s food. Homemade dumplings and the broth tasted great. It’s a complete different texture compared to the frozen ones.
The Noona that worked there was great as well and I observed that all the customers that ordered from there were satisfied as well. When you see empty plates and bowls you know that’s a good sign.
Support this business! :) I got the traditional one. No 7 I believe.“

“I loved “Perilla” …Please do not think of this as your typical Korean BQ grill/Restaurant. This is the most excellent Korean BQ restaurant I have ever been in and I have been in quite few over the years both in Korea back in the day and in the USA…Tomba⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“

“Long overdue review of THE best korean bbq in all of Chicago. Pretty much everything is good but the galbi and spicy pork are the best of the bunch. I make a trip down from the city at least once every two weeks for the food here. Aside from the food, the service is also great, with everyone very welcoming whenever we go. Went again today. Will probably go again next week.“

“This is me and my partner's favorite Korean Fried Chicken spot. We've once ordered from here 6 times in a span of two months. The original soy garlic chicken is my favorite, but the curry and snow onion are delicious as well. Sometimes, we order the cheese curds which is also super yummy. And I appreciate the free radish that the chicken comes with when we dine in.
This place is a staple for us and is miles better than Bonchon.“

“We’ve tried many Korean restaurants in every city we visit. And, we have tried a lot. By far we can say with confidence that this is one of the best! The vibe is wonderful, its spacious, clean and server are very friendly & helpful. The food is amazing. You can tell they use high quality meats as they just melt in your mouth. The appetizer and all the side dishes are great too. This is definitely a hidden gem in Niles, IL. We’ll definitely visit here again whenever we are in Chicago area.“

“Located in the former Assi Plaza food court and now named Park and Shop (store). Don’t be deceived by its unassuming facade. Wow wow wow truly gourmet.
This place trumps all. The BEST Korean food in Chicago. As a native Korean and avid foodie I hold high standards for Korean cuisine. This joint offers the best favors and uses high quality ingredients of all the places I have been to in the state. The kimchi is homemade, you can tell. It’s so delicious and yet not drenched in salt and sugar, so healthy tasting yet light and flavorful. High quality, authentic, no skimping (generous portions- yay) and even greater prices (what?).
It’s a hole in the wall, mom & pop shop and I can’t get enough of it. I would eat here everyday if I could. I want to give the owner and the cook a big hug, thank you thank you thank you. And please never go away.“

“I tried it since it's near my job best decision ever. Started with their sweet and spicy chicken bowl, i was instantly impressed. I decided to basically try everything on their menu, and everything was good. Favs are sweet and spicy chicken, jeyuk spicy pork, and the soy vinegar chicken. They have variations that have a Sriracha sauce, but it's honestly not necessary. Everything is already packed full of flavor and pairs well with the white rice. If they had a bit more publicity, they would definitely get more customers.“

“I had the bibimbap with beef and beef bulgogi. Both were delicious. I also think that the miso soup was a great addition too. However, my bibimbap came with ground beef. I personally prefer the longer pieces of beef with that sort of dish. I also wish that they had more of a dessert menu. They only had ice cream available today. I think having Korean sweet treats would be a great addition to the menu. The flavor was great, and the food came out fast. I had great service. Will definitely be coming back ☺️“

“I don't usually leave reviews, but I was SO impressed with K-Kitchen. I had some time to kill before my train so I picked up some veggie fried rice with fried chicken. It took a while for them to make it, but it was so, so good--and it was fresh and hot!
Absolutely recommend, but factor in the time it'll take to make your food. It'll be worth it, but it's not something you grab 5 minutes before you get on the train or bus.“

“My daughter and I love Korean food so we stopped to check this place out for lunch today. She ordered the red hot wings and I ordered the Mep tenders (sweet and spicy with a Mayo glaze), and we share the bulgogi fried rice. Everything was fantastic! Our server was very kind and attentive. We give this visit 10 out of 10. We will definitely be back again.“

“Despite its appearance, this is a hidden restaurant. The owner is a bit of a tsundere, but the prices are very cheap. Other restaurants are a bit salty to suit American tastes, or full of Honda City and Miwon, but that's not the case here, and the food tastes just like Koreans. It is a rare restaurant in the United States that offers freshly baked bindaetteok as a side dish and offers both value for money and taste.“

“i’m at this market several times a month. the cafe is always poppin, much respect for the the folks working. got food there for the first time and it did not disappoint. delicious and the portions are generous. probably would not recommend if you’re in a rush, but def worth it. very limited seating, shared a table with a stranger which was no biggie for me. if that’s not your thing, probably best to take the food to go.“

“The food there is absolutely amazing, and the owner and the staff are very friendly. The owner is very sweet and greets and tends to the food himself. I have not once had a negative time, and I go there super regularly. He also volunteers a lot, which shows that this is a community-based restaurant, and I love that. Fantastic food and even better people with big hearts serving you. I recommend their jjambbong, and their happy hours are lit! Reasonable prices a great time.
Wheelchair accessibility: My mother is disabled but she loves how the place is super wheelchair accessible!“

“Hands down the best gopchang (beef intestines) and daechang (large intestines) you’ll ever have! The yukhwe (Korean beef tartare) is also phenomenal—super fresh and flavorful. Make sure to save room for the fried rice at the end; it’s an absolute must!
But honestly, what sets Hwangsoh Grill apart is the banchan (side dishes). The spread is incredible—kimchi, white kimchi, potatoes, pasta salad, and a variety of other delicious Korean dishes. They’re all made with such care and really elevate the whole experience.
The staff here, especially the friendly ladies, make you feel so welcome. The atmosphere is perfect for group outings, especially if you’re in the mood for some soju and a lively drinking scene. Even though we live in Chicago, we find ourselves coming back to Hwangsoh Grill again and again. It’s just that good!“
