“I had looked at the menu before I came here so I knew I wanted The Cuban Sandwich when I arrived. It was fast and fresh. The meat was mouth watering! Was the best Cuban I ever had. I was not expecting this. Hoping for goodness.. but the best!! ???. The service was fast and friendly.

“It is so refreshing to meet an owner who is actively present in his restaurant. Mark Salmon enthusiastically and creatively arranged for my friend and I to dine outside (our request), despite the rain. We stayed dry under umbrellas and thanks to Sandra, our amazing waitress, we celebrated my birthday with fine food (impressive menu choices and food presentation) and great company! It was my first time dining at 501 Local and this restaurant met and exceeded my high standards in every way! It is a hidden gem and our new fav restaurant. Highly recommend!!“

“I recently was visiting Chicago and as a habit, I searched for Best Gluten Free bakery and discovered Defloured. What an amazing place. As a Celiac, finding good GF baked goods is rare to find. Wow what a selection. I purchased a chocolate cupcake, two love pucks, cinnamon rolls, poppy lemon bread, baguette, and aNutella sandwich cookie. Everything was really delicious. I mean world class quality. I now plan on making regular visits to Chicago so I can load up and fill my freezer with possibly the best GF baked goods in the U.S. I’ve tried a lot.“

The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. “Everything about these macaroons was great. Flavor and texture were spot on. We had Pistachio, Earl Grey, Lemon Lavender and Strawberry Chocolate ones. Earl Grey is a must if you like tea flavor remotely. Store attendent was nice, friendly, and provided recs. These were the best macaroons we've had so far in Chicago. Just go in, don't hesistate!!“

“I had heard Monti's was the best place to get a Philly in Chicago, and since I've been craving one lately, I had to give it a try. I can honestly say it's the best Philly I've had in Chicago and the surrounding areas. It definitely did not disappoint.
I ordered mine with extra mayo and white American cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, the service was great, and the whole experience lived up to the hype. I highly recommend giving Monti's a try if you're looking for an authentic Philly cheesesteak!“

“I come here a couple times a week and usually get whatever light roast is on drip, or an oat draft latte.

Pros: reliable place to get some work done. Music at a low volume, lots of seating, warm and sufficient lighting. Service is really efficient. Yummy coffee - I’ve yet to have a bad one. They have a pitcher of oat milk as well as dairy for your drip coffee; yay for us lactase-challenged folks!

Cons: They only have single-use plastic cups, which is a shame for a place this size. They will fill your reusable container if you bring one. Most of the tables have a small surface area - like 18” square - so can feel a little squished if you have a large laptop or need to work with a mouse.“
