“First and foremost, the staff of any restaurant are the ones that truly keep an establishment running and thriving and are the heart and representation of the business. The hostess / order-taker and crew at Stacked and Folded, were super friendly to us and offered such great customer service! The atmosphere inside is very nice and offers an elevated casyal food experience.Even though the average taco is around $6.50, it is very large and offers a lot of the actual ingredients. This was the case with my short rib taco. The short rib taco did offer a little bit of that spicy hot but not too much which was good, and yes, was slightly sweet in the sauce as advertised. Overall, the flavor combination was very good and would rate it a 3.9 out of 5. It was just tender and juicy enough, but could even be a little bit more tender in the meat. I know it is not easy when it comes to short ribs and believe me they did a good job here! It is worth getting! We had also ordered the short rib sandwich, but I recommend to have the short rib in the taco form. It just taste even better with the corn tortillas! The sweet potato fries are a five out of five star! Some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They are cooked perfection, and have that right texture on the outside and perfect on the inside. Amazing. Now as a cook, my (James’) critique is focused on the shrimp taco. Like every other item, Katherine and I had, the shrimp taco is made in a very fresh and flavorful, non-greasy and healthy tasting manner. What observations and what can be worked on from the creators of the menu is the following:The shrimp in your shrimp tacos-at least when we visited—was just plain cooked shrimp and was actually dry. My advice based on the best shrimp tacos I have ever encountered or made are taking thawed raw shrimp, then marinate them of course, and grill them briefly and just right so that they come out juicy and tender and with that amazing flavor profile. That would make your shrimp tacos a five out of five.“
“Really good ice cream. Me and friends went here today since everything was closed and we thought this place would be mid. But, man this ice cream really is good. I would say it’s even on par with basking robins or prolly even way better than that. I would recommend the dark cherry and coconut scoops which was recommended to me by one of the employees. Also, I gotta say this is also the only place in Chicago that is very hospitable and service is amazing. The employees gave us many flavors to try before proceeding with our order.Vegetarian options: Vegan marshmallows“
“Love to have this breakfast and bunch place at my neighborhood!Kid-friendliness: My son loves their pancakes, fish and chip and the welcoming cakes so much! They even made a watermelon juice out of the menu for him just because he asked for. Coloring, books and toys for their little customers too.“
“I was parking and saw a crowd of people hovering around a storefront like they were waiting for doors to open for the Nordstrom Semi Annual Sale! Thus, I had to walk over and see what all the fuss was about. Tons of people were waiting outside in the cold for pastries. I looked at the menu on the window and noticed all the pastries are gluten free and they have a large selection of vegan options! There were so many vegan options that I bared the cold trying to make a decision. I settled on the vegan brownie. The staff were all friendly and processed orders quickly. While walking, I tasted a piece of the vegan brownie. It was simply, AMAZING! I can’t wait to go back and try other vegan pastry options.“
“My first time trying this place was for lunch today and it was such a good experience! The host was very welcoming and kind, and so was my server. I tried a blueberry bourbon drink that was amazing, and had a bowl of the chili mac that was even better. I had a lovely time and can’t wait to come back!“
“This place is our new favorite for a casual brunch/lunch. We've been a few times now; the food is always out of this world good, we love the setup and service, and enjoy peeking at the grocery & bakery items — we'll have to try those next.“
“Absolutely delicious! So light and airy with amazing flavors! Plus friendly service. The lady that helped me was also very sweet to my dog, she even came around to pet her and give her a treat. (She made sure to wash her hands immediately after!) I'll be back!“
“Very good brunch spot. Small and cozy but they do take reservations, so we were able to get in with a large group with minimal wait. The food, especially the Spanish omelet was spot on. The potatoes that came with the dishes was excellent.“
“Love the handy drive-thru. Also love the wheat free options like chocolate chip cookies, biscuit that can substitute some for bread on sandwiches, and other pastries. Lots of pastries. LOVE the scones. Vegetarian options are tasty. Had the Rubén sandwich yesterday and it was awesome. Also love the mission of the facility. Staffed by residents of Misericordia's homes. Decent prices and great taste with a cause!!“
“Visiting from Indiana for training and decided to get Greek for dinner.....man o man o man.....was this a fantastic choice! When I pulled up, it was free valet parking and I was a little confused because I didn't anticipate it being that type of fine dining experience but I was wrong. We arrived at 6ish on Tuesday and let me say we beat the crowd. Within 20 minutes of our arrival, there was a wait for seating. As an appetizer we ordered the Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) And it was phenomenal. They automatically give you a platter of toasted bread and it was the perfect accompaniment.I ordered the chicken kebab meal which came with a soup and my choice of side. I chose the lemon chicken soup and greek potatoes...my tummy was in agreement with my choices. My friend ordered the Moussuka and it was a large portion that also came with soup and choice of side...she chose the mixed veggies and they were truly delicious. We tried the dandelion greens because neither of us had had them before. They weren't my fav but my friend loved them. This was simply a matter of preference nothing more nothing less.My friend got a baklava to go because we were too full for dessert at that moment. The portions are healthy, service was top notch and the food was obviously quality ingredients. There is something for everyone on this menu!“
“Group of 4 for dinner, fabulous experience starting with Jeanette who got us seated and set up with menu and drinks. Very attentive service by the whole team. Great menu selection, well prepared and presented. Looking forward to our next visit! Thanks for reading.“
“I usually order for takeout and they don't disappoint. Their meat sampler is very tasty and sambusa is included too. I had sides of vegetables for the meat sampler. The meat is soft and tender as it was slow cooked and boiled egg added in my meal. It has a spice to it which generally complimented with the injera and meat. I've tried their tea as well and their dessert. I definitely would recommend this place.“
“Unexpectedly medium good coffee. Little bit of a bitter "robusta" beans flavor. Metropolis usually sells mass market coffee that is no good. Many varieties of signature drinks ?. They have many pastry like a donuts and muffins. The coffee shop is not cozy and not convenient.“
“So good! Served up food for 5 people to go in about 20 minutes and every person was super happy with their food! Our favorite place in the neighborhood. Update: still the best place in the neighborhood. Update 2: still our fave, Burger of the week this week (2/8/24) was SO GOOD!“
“The chocolate rum balls and spinach pie are delicious and the owner is so sweet. The chocolate rum balls had nuts and were super fudgy- they just melt in your mouth. This is a great neighborhood spot! Very reasonably priced so make sure to have cash.“
“I ordered through Postmates recently, and the food is amazing, so I decided to come in today! The decor is so lovely and the service is great as well. I'm so glad I got to dine in. Their outside patio is cute, and they have lots of seating available inside/ out. It was pretty busy. I can't wait to come back and enjoy. New favorite place! Their vegetarian and vegan options are amazing.Vegetarian options: They can sub egg with vegan egg, they also have beyond sausage, non diary alternatives and more!“
“04/02/24 - What an awesome add to the neighborhood. Teriyaki Madness is in the mall next to The Smash burger on Foster Ave. It's less than 1/2 mile from my house. I actually sampled their chicken teriyaki @ a Yelp event up in Lake Bluff @ Bernie's Book Bank. Teriyaki Madness has a store up in Gurnee, IL The teriyaki comes in 3 different sizes, Junior, regular or large. I ordered the regular sized chicken teriyaki bowl & it was more than enough for me as I had a little bit of left overs to take home. They have different options like regular or spicy chicken, chicken breast teriyaki, steak teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, tofu teriyaki & chicken katsu. Wry good seasoning w Great options. They also have appetizers like edamame, egg rolls, chicken potstickers & crab Rangoon. I was very pleasantly surprised w/the grilled chicken teriyaki served over brown rice w/veggies like cabbage & broccoli. I really enjoyed my meal & scarfed it down. I will definitely be back to try some of their other items like the steak teriyaki or chicken katsu.“
“OMG the hot chocolate is to die for! Like drinking a melted candy bar and served with milk and whipped cream. Just like I've had many times in Switzerland and France. Spot on! And the Pain Au Chocolat was amazing and they warmed it up for us. Lots of seating. Definitely a go-to spot from now on!“
“We used to go to the restaurant in Edina MN and have been to the one in Chicago. Perfect breakfast restaurant. The 49er Flapjacks are fantastic, as is the waffle. The bacon is perfectly cooked. A great experience, which is why it is always crowded on the weekends.“
“Everything I have ever purchased from here has exceeded my expectations and when I bring donuts to work, everyone raves how good they are. Other than sub par chain donut places in the city, there are almost none that I know of in the NW side of Chicago that are as good as Deerfield's. I do not mind the drive bc I know Im getting the best donuts.“
“Awesome place, modern, cozy. Our 2 and 4 kids loooove to eat pasta and dine in. not just thay make pasta from scratch bit they are using organic chicken for our favorite pasta. pasta is usually done in 5/6 minute and portions are big. If you like Europian flavor for both interior and food this is right place for you!“
“Regardless of the location, you know what you're getting at La Colombe. A good cup of coffee or special coffee drink at a reasonable price.I tried out the strawberry mocha because I really enjoyed this strawberry half tan I had earlier in the month. Something about the strawberries they use really works well with the coffee and the chocolate in the mocha was a good balance, not being too sweet nor too bitter.I thought the service here would be slow because it was crowded but my drink came out relatively quickly. Because this space is relatively open, when it's crowded, it can be quite noisy so it might not be the best place to try and get some work done unless you have headphones. Otherwise, the usual offerings were provided here and I wasn't disappointed.“
“Always a great experience here. It can get crowded on the weekends but I never have waited a long time to sit or for service. The food is very good! They have a lot of different options including fun shakes! My favorite is the southwest omelet! I loved it as a skillet and tried is as an omelet and fell in love! They have lots of fun pancake options as well. Good meal options with lots to offer making it not that expensive!“
“Del Rio is the finest restaurant that my family and I have ever had the privilege to frequent. It is part of every milestone in the lives of the Platcow family and in every sense of the word Del Rio is home and their staff are also indeed family. Much love to them and thank you Bill and Connie for providing the set and the stage for our important moments living on the North Shore these last fifty years. Much love from the Platcow family to the great Del Rio!“
“It's Egg Harbor! Quality across locations is notoriously consistent. Good and interesting food selection, with stellar staples and a rotating menu of specials, plus periodic changes to their main menu.I have enjoyed Egg Harbor in other locations for decades and I have no complaints about this one. Staff is persistent cheery and imminently friendly. Food and ingredient quality is consistent and always on par with other quality brunch joints. You won't necessarily find the most experimental items in the world here, but they do push out some interesting specials.Prices aren't cheap, but always on per with restaurants of similar quality and actually have not increased as massively as others with inflation. They treat their staff notoriously well and I have personally seen a guy I like go from a busboy with low English competency to a floor manager. Gotta love that.Dietary restrictions: The staff is ready and quite willing to adjust menu items to accommodate any dietary restrictions they can. They aren't heavily focused on this and probably can't, for instance, guarantee they've eradicated all traces of gluten from most meals, but they are glad to do what they can with no stress.Parking: The parking lot is a bit of a pain to navigate due to its design, but you can park both in the front and back and you'll never find yourself lacking.Kid-friendliness: Egg Harbor is Notoriously kid friendly. I can't speak for kids who behave catastrophically poorly, but I went to another location for most of my childhood and they were both kind and accommodating.“
“Heard from a friend that the hot chocolate here was great, so went to try it. Best part: it was descent (but extremely rich). Worst part: a small cup or hot chocolate here costs 8.76! Yes, eight dollars and seventy-six cents (not a typo, lol). Service was good, not much of a wait.“
“Definitely a place to people watch as much as just get a coffee. It has a big, open, bright interior. Some table seating and some more lounge-like. Always seems busy but the turnover is pretty fast so I’ve always been able to get a good place to sit. I appreciate that it’s not Starbucks.Parking: If you can grab a street parking spot in front count yourself lucky. It’s hit or miss. Worst case is you have to park a block away.“
“I love the aesthetic here, very cozy and functional. I came in for a work meeting. There are games, puzzles, and books(adult and children's books) available. Tea was served with a timer to assure the proper amount of time for steeping.Bathroom has a nice changing table and even supplies for changing little ones.I interacted with 2 staff members and both were helpful and kind. A great place to relax with a book or meet up with a friend!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and vegan options are available, which was a great surprise!“
“Brazilian bowl is the place to eat, if your in chicago dona luz is the best, she's all smiles and gave us free Brazilian cheese bread.Parking: There's parking everywhereWheelchair accessibility: They have a sidewalk that's wheelchair friendly, no steps, all flat ground, big restroom if you need assistance.“
“I can't believe I never tried Torino until now! We live walking distance and I placed an order for pickup. Wow, the freshness and quality of the food was fantastic. Loved my tuna avocado roll! The space is warm and inviting and it looks like a nice bar, too. Will definitely be back to dine in!“
“Sunday morning midday, I thought that there would be a wait for a table, but they were able to put us at a table by the kitchen/bathrooms. I've dined at Egg Harbors throughout the years and the menu seems pretty consistent although they did have a lot of new coffee drinks. My Bacado (bacon-avocado) omelette was fine, with a generous portion of avocados. This came with an English muffin and diced potatoes. My companion ordered the avocado toast and they said their over medium eggs were cold. Otherwise a fine breakfast. Our server made sure our drinks were filled and even offered to provide Togo containers for them. Easy to pay with QR code on receipt.“
“Visited this PBK location for the first time today. It was pristine and bright inside. All three of the staff members were equally cheery and kind. Maddie, in particular, was phenomenal!! She helped customize my order and with genuine joy, too! Will be returning for sure!!!“
“Happy I was finally able to try this place! I tried the Baykin sandwich, and it was filling. The plain cream cheese lacked flavor. I wouldn't mind trying the flavored one for next time. Other than that, the pickle they gave with it was very crunchy. They have some available tables with seats. Takeout was fast and easy.“
“I like it...The service is good very, the team is inviting. The ambiance is quirky, rustic, and whimsical. The menu is creative. The dessert options are so good. I had a carrot cake and I had was excellent. The focaccia pizza was flavorful ... the doey but decent ... Breakfast sandwich was awesome.“
“Everything here is incredibly delicious! I guarantee that anything you try you will love! ☺️ I have been getting my cakes from Gourmet Frog for over 15 years, and from my wedding day to just because I was having a bad day and needed a little treat, it's always a hit! I can't recommend froggies enough! (What I endearingly call them ?)“
“This place is awesome. I’ve only been here a couple times since I started working in the area and I already know it’s going to be a go-to lunch spot for me. Food is great, super quick service, and Thien the cashier is really friendly. The menu is huge, good variety. I love that they have pizza by the slice too, I’m eating a slice of cheese right now :)“
“I truly enjoyed my first visit for lunch here. I was recommended the bluecheese burger with apple wood bacon and sweet potato fries. I was not disappointed with the flavor.Service was great staff is all friendly and promptIll definitely be back to try other meal options. And explore the interior more“
“I love this place... a lot. They offer such decadent sweets and rich cakes, all of their menu items and phenomenal. Me and my family's favorite is the Tiramisu cake. I also love how they have crumble cakes on the counter. The prices are affordable too! I don't have a sweet tooth, and their desserts make me drool!“
“Came here for a family member's birthday. The menu was updated and the food was very tasty with large portions. The atmosphere is energetic and fun. I would recommend more low-carb options but otherwise this place is fire ?. I got a healthy dinner regardless that was very tasty.“
“This adorable bakery is just amazing. They were kind, responsive (even while taking a sick day), the cake was delicious, and the price was right. I reached out to Bent Fork after terrible experiences w lovin oven. Even with a short turn around time I got an amazing cake that was just what we needed. Everyone loved it esp my bday boy. And at cake pickup they told me “we just love what we do”.You have forever customer in me. I appreciate your amazing service and delicious cake so much!“
“Our server was very attentive. We always love coming here for lunch. One of the bus boys spilled a glass of water on me. He did not handle it great and barely apologized. The maitre d saw what happened and right away asked if we were ok and offered to comp our lunch, seeing how I was pretty drenched. It was super nice and exactly how I would have expected it handled. She was great. I know accidents happen but it was just too bad the bus boy didn't seem apologetic. We will of course be returning!“
“One of the best and most unique dining experiences in Chicago. Chef Devin Denzer is truly an artist. Talented beyond his years. Great date night, or group of friends event. Eat his food before he gets his Michelin stars so you can tell people you knew him back in the day.“
“Just like in life, everyone deserves a second chance. This is my third time at Sugarcoated and my second review. This time everything purchased was wonderful and as fresh as could be. My biggest surprise was the Old Fashion Oatmeal cookie, there are not your grandmother’s oatmeal cookies, these are amazing! I also feel a real good vibe from the owner who was very cordial and appreciative of my support. I will be back!“
“A friend wanted to eat here before it closed. Food was okay. Service was okay. Space seemed a little misused, but hey, they are closing after a 20+ year run. Something in the last couple decades must have worked out. The host stand was a little off-putting. There were 3 of us for dinner and the host made it abundantly clear that there was a 90-minute time limit on the table. She made sure to tell me that at least 3 times. Girl, I get it. The restaurant never once filled up, we had a 150.00+ bill and tipped 30%, so I'm not really sure what the issue was...but we were out in 90 minutes.“
“My campus organization got our Formal catered by Coralie and were incredibly pleased! The service we received was phenomenal, as the owner (Pascal) was very communicative and flexible when we needed to change plans. He spoke with me to coordinate the order and even provided delivery. The food was beyond delicious and everyone at the event took the extra servings home! We ordered the tomato, lorraine, smoked salmon, and ratatouille quiches, as well as the flan, napoleon, and lemon meringue. They were all delicious and Coralie provided them presliced for us, which made the event go even smoother. Coralie is well worth the price and a lovely local business!“
“The place is cute and colorful inside with limited seating, and they have a few tables/chairs outdoors as well. As others have mentioned, it is pricy, but both bowls were delicious. We got the love-a-bowl and the OG açaí. I would definitely come back!“
“The food here is incredible. Like seriously, some of the best food I have had in the city. I’ve never had Georgian food before but wow. I was very impressed. I got the IMERULI KHACHAPURI (Georgian cheese filled bread) which was incredible. So warm and flake and pairs amazing with the CHASHUSHULI (Georgian moderately spicy beef stew). The Chashushuli was amazing, the beef was so tender and it had a nice spice to it! It went well with both mashed potatoes and rice! The service was okay. They were understaffed and my server forgot my Khachapuri until I reminded them but I totally understand because he was the only server to like 8 different tables. It was really dark in there. And the lights kept flickering which was a bit annoying. I understand the vibe but it felt a little too dark in there when the sun set.I will be back, this food is amazing!“
“Been many times. Keep coming back. Great waiter. Small kale and spinach salad. Can vary from time to time depending on when you go, i.e., kale not soft enough, not enough dressing, pepitas, etc. but this time..exquisite, salty, garlicky, lemony, texture of kale perfect. Entree-Branzino:light, flaky, flavorful, perfect preparation. Creamed spinach as it should be. So full. Birthday-took slice of flourless chocolate cake home complementary. Wonderful! Always go back here even when I say I want to try something else!“
“Nice place. Food was quite good as was the old fashioned. I was in the bar so the server was the bartender and I managed to get great service. They had wonderful deviled eggs. The baked onion soup was tasty - on the sweet side- the melted cheese could have been crisper. The medallions were overdone but still were tender (?!? How did they do that) and flavorful. Didn’t care for the creamed spinach but maybe that is my taste. The au gratin potatoes were quite good. I was quite annoyed with the surcharge. It said I could ask to take it off but it came off the tip. Big business wins again. The menu was quite limited.“
“Wanted to love it more. Lots of rapport between staff and patrons so it’s clearly a real local regulars place. Tables are packed in tightly. Felt like I was in the space of the couple behind us especially when I stood up.Beef bourguignon was very pretty but underseasoned. No detectable red wine taste to the sauce or meat. Beet salad was declared “fine.” We started with the spring rolls which were good and the potstickers .. good except the sauce with ketchup and sweet chili notes was a bit overpowering. All the appetizers on the menu were Asian except focaccia and soup. Desserts were enjoyed. Cocktails were good.Funny to see menu highlights in google maps include tiramisu, scallops, and hangar steak, none of which were on offer during our visit.“
