“I recently was visiting Chicago and as a habit, I searched for Best Gluten Free bakery and discovered Defloured. What an amazing place. As a Celiac, finding good GF baked goods is rare to find. Wow what a selection. I purchased a chocolate cupcake, two love pucks, cinnamon rolls, poppy lemon bread, baguette, and aNutella sandwich cookie. Everything was really delicious. I mean world class quality. I now plan on making regular visits to Chicago so I can load up and fill my freezer with possibly the best GF baked goods in the U.S. I’ve tried a lot.“

“I had so much fun here! One of the things I got was the pumpkin cheesecake special, and OMG, it was BOMB!! And the slice was HUGE! Like, seriously, that cheesecake was a whole meal by itself lol. Not that I'm complaining, because I definitely appreciated it! 😂

I ended up having to take my avocado tostadas to go because I was so full. (Those were really good too, by the way. Just not as good as that cheesecake lol.)

I also tried the Manic Pixie Dream Girl drink, and that was really good too! It was nice and light, which was perfect after eating all that cheesecake.

I'm so glad we decided to stop here to eat! I'm already planning on going back just to get another slice of that pumpkin cheesecake. The only problem is that it's a limited-time special, so if I miss my chance to get it again this year, best believe I'll be coming back to the parade next year just for that cheesecake! 😂 That's how good it was!“

The recipes are unique to this restaurant. We have eaten at other Ethiopian restaurants. They do not even register next to this one. The Proprietor is SOOOOO nice. And, ask him what brought him to the United States. It's an emotionally moving story. If you haven't had Ethiopian cuisine before, it is NOT scary. There are hardy vegetarian and meatatarian dishes. So, there's something for everyone. And, the dishes that are spicy are mild. So, don't worry about your sensitive belly. The meal is a SHARED experience. So, make sure you bring friends. “Got there 15 mins before it opened and wasn’t one of the first 30 people in line, that’s when you know this bakery is going to be amazing! When I finally walked the I was greeted by the nice and knowledgeable staff. My savory dish was the bacon brioche and it was phenomenal! Crispy on the outside but soft in the inside. My first sweet bite was the salted caramel brown butter blondie brownie. It was delicious! They even let you choose a center or corner piece. My favorite pastry was the banana pudding croissant, it was even better than I thought it would be. I also got the basque cheesecake which was well prepared but the time I went they had peanut butter on it which I’m not a fan of. But I’m willing to try it again when they have a different flavor. Such a great bakery, will definitely come back.“

“This is not technically a review of their baked goods, which are undeniably amazing and baked with love as you’ll see in this story. Jennivee's Bakery , LLC’s AMAZING staff saved my dogs life!! This past Friday, one of the owners, Andres, the bakery staff, and an amazing group of dedicated bystanders rescued my dog, Mo, who had run off in Oz Park and was missing and in danger for hours prior to his rescue. After seeing Mo dart into traffic multiple times, this amazing group of strangers was able to corner him, and Andres bravely was able to grab him. He and the team at Jennivee’s then sheltered him and calmed him as long as it took and were ultimately able to bring him to Bond Vet who scanned his microchip and got in touch with me. My dogs are basically my kids. I pour allllll of my love into them. I still can’t believe how lucky we got and how close of a call this was. We’re shaken but relieved and endlessly grateful to Andres and everyone at Jennivee’s!!! Run don’t walk to get yourself some amazing treats and support this incredible business and the people in it!!!!“

“So today I had a friend in from out of town and we topped off our afternoon with a visit to Miski Bakery. I was dying to try the alfajores, and they did not disappoint! The very delicate morsels melted in our mouth, and the creamy luscious dollop of dulce de leche caramel was a perfect pairing. In addition we tried the Milhojas/Napoleons in two flavors the Lucuma pastry creme and also the dulce de leche. A thousand layers is correct, these were amazingly tall, crispy and filled with air, both were delicious but the Lucuma(a Peruvian fruit) pastry creme was the standout. It had such a delightful delicate flavor I had never tasted previously. After speaking with Carmen the owner I asked whether or not they ever carried Turrón de doñja Pepa. She just happened to have some freshly baked sitting on the tray behind the counter, but alas it was still awaiting its filling. This gives me a great reason to return and indulge in that special treat. It is prepared every other week. The service was warm and friendly. This is definitely a hidden gem in the neighborhood you shouldn't miss out on. I will be returning often.“

“Today CheSa was in my building The Franklin downtown and of course I had to support my own! I got the 4 cheese Mac/jerk chicken bowl. Not too spicy but had a nice kick. Chicken was tender. Only issue is the juice from the chicken made the Mac and Cheese runny at the bottom“
