“A truly authentic New Orleans neighborhood restaurant. Situated among shotgun houses filled with families out for walks with the dog. It’s a place locals go to and tourists should know more about. The food is excellent and the service great. While we were dining there was a very festive (and typically NOLA) race. Runners of all abilities were participating in a race of some sort which involved stops at bars set up throughout the uptown area. It added to the festive nature of the evening!

Adding a review of our return last night 9/25/26:

From the moment we made our reservation to the moment we walked out the door it was perfection!!! We had a complicated reservation that required some changes and yet Liz was patient and accommodating throughout the process. When we arrived she seemed to know us as the problem children and yet made us feel like we were special in all the best of ways. Our servers were all so personable and kind. They were chatty and seemed to have all the time in world for us, in spite of the busy evening with full tables all around. The recommendations were once again on point and the portions were generous, too! We had pumpkin and crab soup, fish dip, fried cauliflower, hangar steak, the red fish special, pork chop, and the eggplant Parmesan. Our dishes were passed around the table and none of us could decide which was best! The only sad part was we were too full for dessert…truly cannot wait to return. But first the leftovers for lunch today!! And they will be a wonderful reminder of a perfect meal last night….“

Only thing we didn't care for were the desserts: the poached pear was cut into small pieces and cold (not how they're normally served), and the tarte tatin had a weird flavor, almost bitter. Would still go back cause everything else was delicious.“

The real showstopper was the Kandy's Spicy Margarita—Maestro Dobel Diamante Cristalino tequila, watermelon, and jalapeños mixed to perfection. I can't wait to go back!“

The fried catfish was some of the best I've ever tasted, the burgers tasted like a perfectly grilled steak on a bun, the crab and corn and crab bisque was creamy and perfectly seasoned, my daughter had penne pasta with tomato sauce with chicken. Everything things was delicious, our waitress was the perfect amount of friendly. I would eat here every single night of our vacation if it was up to me.“
