“Admittedly I’m inflating my rating because it’s hard to find good, not overly Western fusion-ed, Asian food in DC. I wouldn’t (and can’t) go anywhere else for dry pot and veg mapo tofu. Didn’t care for the dumplings I’ve tried so far but I will definitely continue working my way through the menu. I very much appreciate that this place exists on H St!“

“Finally found my Chinese spot! From VA to MD, this is the BEST Chinese food I’ve had. Everything was fresh and hot! Prep time was quick, they were friendly even though they were busy with a slew of call in orders and pickups.
Tried the general tso, shrimp fried rice, fries, spring rolls and wings plus the blue lemonade. Everything was delicious and the price point is great as well!
I can’t wait to get back and try more of their menu.“

“Food is always good! Very clean establishment (especially for a carry-out)
My favorites are the Shrimp and Broccoli, General Tso Shrimp and Crab Ragoons.
In addition I’ve only had the Orange chicken, beef and broccoli, shrimp fried rice, shrimp lomein, and sweet and sour chicken which were all good.“

“I had a taste for some carryout food so I decided to try this spot. I ordered fries with mumbo sauce and a cheeseburger. The mumbo sauce was good. The burger was good as well. I will be going back there again when I have a taste for carryout food.“

“I think this place needs higher stars. We're visiting from Florida and made our way to Chinatown and were looking for a decent place to eat. The food and service was excellent. Better than I expected. We ate the curry chicken which tasted like real curry. Sesame chicken was fresh and flavorful. The food came out quickly. I highly recommend this place.“

“Really enjoyed the shrimp & eggplant hotpot, and the garlic chicken, which came with snowpeas and mushrooms. Paired with a pot of jasmine tea and sesame balls for dessert. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem - so glad a friend recommended it.

“I've ordered from this place sooo much. I always get the sashimi, I usually get the sashimi platter. This last time I got the sashimi appetizer + vegetable dumplings. I have learned that this is one of the sushi places that plays with the term, "white fish." Some places use it for white tuna, some use it for yellowtail etc. I got the sushimi appetizer as it was advertised as salmon, tuna, and white fish--my favorites, except not the white fish I wanted lol. This was more translucent, and half-pink. That was my gamble. Can't really tell what the white sashimi I get in the platter is, I think its white tuna, but I won't make the mistake again.Nice, solid slices of shaved ginger. Good if you're sick! I do wish the sashimi came with a condiment cup like the veggie dumplings did. Veggie dumplings were fine, nice and plump. Also love that the place is open late--I've been a night owl my whole life, so works for me!5 stars overall. I've only been in-person once, and it was very pleasant. You need to be let in, which doesn't take long. Lots of randos wandering around Chinatown so I get it.“

“Takeout only. Cash only. You can call ahead to place a pickup order. Wide variety of food options. It's delicious, great size portions, and the prices aren't bad. This is the only Chinese food I eat within the DMV, I will, and I have traveled over an hour to get food from them.“

“Trust me, the egg foo young is not greasy and really good... Right now they are my best place for egg foo young in all of DC. Egg patties are nicely cooked.... Gravy is also not dark brown or heavy (ask for it on the side to control your portion) Tasty ??“

“Every time I order from here whether it’s pepper steak, lo mein, shrimp fry rice or a steak and cheese Ming has made sure that my dining experience for takeout is amazing. Thank God this local restaurant is here to service us for our takeout needs. Highly recommend.“

“We've been eating here for over 20 years and it has always been good. It is recently under new management and the way some items are prepared has changed, but still very tasty -- just a new twist on an old favorite. The one thing the new management needs is someone who knows their way around a bar. The people there this week had a very limited range of knowledge about drinks (gin on the rocks got a blank look), but once you explained they happily made a very acceptable drink.“

“This place has definitely improved. It use to smell really bad but that has changed. The menu changed and for the better. The popcorn chicken is really good, as well as the orange and fish! The friend rice isn’t great. The mango chicken has way too much sauce. Regardless, I would definitely recommend this place.“

“The place is a bit of a dump and the lobby could be cleaned (shady neighborhood, not surprised), but the food was great, huge portions and very tasty, and the staff member behind the glass wall was very kind and friendly. I'd go back here for sure.“

“I ordered 4 orders of chicken wings, rice wa good, and the French fries, but that Mumbo Sauce is terrible. I don’t know what to make of it. It’s like they threw so many ingredients together it’s throw off. Once I walked in and saw the cups of dark sauce that supposed to be Mumbo sauce, it was a let down. I had already ordered it my food so I went ahead and payed for it.“

“The food is so good. Best shrimp fried rice and chicken wings in the city. They have the real Mumbo sauce!! I hate going there because of the location. Sketchy as hell! People hanging out front smoking/selling weed. Looks like something can pop off at any second so call ur food in ahead of time pick up and go!! But the food is delicious!“

“Delicious wings. Came here twice. I ordered the honey j*** and honey lemon pepper wings which are delicious. I also ordered the fried rice. It tastes like Spanish rice in a box and it isn't that great. On my second visit, I played it safe and ordered fries. Very satisfied. This place is much better than America's Best Wings next door in both quality and taste.“

“5 stars for the beef noodle soup - soup is delicious and beef is so tender it falls apart when you pick it up with chopsticks.
Wontons are delicate and delicious, if a bit salty. The dumplings are alright, skin is a bit too thick. The pork burger is alright. Broccoli is a pass - seasoning is patchy and too vinegary. Would definitely come back for the noodles.“

“The soup is amazing!! The soup does have a hint of lemon flavor, with orzo rice, chunks of chicken, carrots, and other vegetables in it. The pork chop meal is really good, especially when Ms. Karimi submits my special request!! The orzo rice is extremely soft, very good, and flavorful. The roasted potatoes are dangerously good and seasoned well. On Gyro Wednesday the gyros are $6.00. The tzaiki sauce is excellent to the taste, and pairs very well on the Greek salad, pork chops, and best with the roasted garlic potatoes!!!
Parking: Pay extremely close to where you park, and when you park due to the varied parking restrictions in the city.“

“*New owners September 2022**First, this place is CLEAN. It smells clean and looks clean. The staff is really friendly and attentative. The food is good but expensive for that I got. I got seafood mac and cheese $15 and not much seafood or seafood taste but it was tasty. I came at 5:30 pm on a Friday. Not many people here at this time. I hope they get good business later on in the day.“

“Their food is GREAT....atmosphere not so great. Pick your poison. I visit maybe once every other month. I can't be a frequent customer as I typically live a healthy lifestyle.
However, time to time is ok and the staff is decent to the customers!“

“This was the first time here, and it was nice, but this location is very, very small. It has a total of like 10 tables and 10 seats at the bar. The food and service were very good and fast. We had a selection of dumplings, noodle dishes, buns, noodle soups, and unlimited drinks. I want to try some of the other locations.“

“Amazing dumplings. Chicken and ginger were great. Takes a little longer since they make them to order. Worth the wait. Normally it is busy, but no line today.
Seating in the space minimal, but rooftop of Union market gives more space.
Parking: Park in the neighborhood and walk. Parking lot can be full.“

“I wanted to share my thoughts on the food and service at ST⭐️R carryout is A1. Overall, I have to say that I love it. The quality of the food and the level of service are exceptional. However, I do have some concerns about the location. It seems to be a bit inconsistent. Some days it's great, but other times I find myself hesitating to go there. I think it's something worth considering.“

“Wow! We got lo mein, chicken wings and mixed vegetables. Lo mein tastes like it did in the 90's. Last year, I had a sub. This is one establishment where the flavors never change. If you are familiar with the area, then you know what I'm talking about.“

“Visited Philippe's this past Saturday night and was immediately greeted with such warmth. Andrea made my old fashion to perfection and she was willing to help with anything we needed. We didn't want much to eat so we just got the calamari 9/10, the veggie lettuce wrap 9/10 and the beef lettuce wrap 10/10. When Andrea left for the night, Ponce picked up right where she left off and took great care of us. We later sparked a conversation of the manager George and Sadi, who were both very welcoming. I look forward to more late nights, happy hours and dinners with the girls here at Philippe's at the Wharf!“

“Pretty decent food if you're alright with most stuff being fried. Food is real quick and tasty. Lunch specials offered but personally I would get a dinner with a side of fried rice and get 2x as much food for only a couple bucks more. I was surprised by how good the crab sticks were! Only downside is you might get harassed by some of the people outside or hanging out inside. Staff is very friendly.“
“I can't speak highly enough about this place. The food is always hot, fresh and ready to pick up when ordered. The service is awesome as our "special orders" have led the owner to know us when we walk in. I would not order chinese food from ANY other restaurant.“

“This place is so fun if you love a variety of Asian foods, and this evening I happened to walk in on a fantastic live jazz band playing by the bar. Last time, we had Korean tacos and tempura, this time I’m having croffles, miso soup, and spaghetti. (I know it’s weird but it’s all so delicious)“

“I had honestly almost entirely lost hope in finding good, authentic, and affordable Asian food in Chinatown until I randomly stumbled upon Wasai. It, admittedly, doesn’t look like much at first glance — the decor is pretty utilitarian, the menu is pretty simple, and they share their space with a Gong Cha. However, the simplicity of their menu and decor is what makes Wasai shine — they do one thing (okay maybe two things), and they do those things incredibly well.
My friend and I dropped by Wasai after wandering around the National Mall until the mid / late afternoon on Saturday. We, of course, did not plan ahead and were absolutely starving by the time we made it to Chinatown. We had only moderate expectations for Wasai (for all the reasons above), but they absolutely blew us out of the water. We each got one of their noodle soups — my friend got their beef, and I opted for their seafood. The noodles were absolutely perfect; they were springy, but not too springy…chewy, yet not too chewy…and doughy while not being too doughy. The texture was absolutely spot on, and these delightful hand-pulled noodles were the perfect vessel for the rich beef / seafood broth. My friend’s soup came with a generous helping of beef, and mine had a great bit of mixed seafood. I did think the veggies were a bit lacking, as one sprig of bok choy and two slices of radish aren’t quite enough vitamins to keep my doctor happy, but the bowls were otherwise phenomenal.
And, lest you think that it was just our post-walk hunger that made us fall in love with Wasai, we’ve both separately been back there multiple times and have continued to feel the same way each time. I’ve even ordered it for delivery a few times and it’s still fantastic, although I will say that you do lose a bit of the noodle’s springy goodness in the transit time.“

“Great spot in DC, the food is very tasty, well priced and the portions are massive! The food is prepared to order very quickly - you can see the kitchen and the chefs at work. The food was eaten by us within 20mins of ordering making it a perfect meal before the train.“

“First off, the staff are welcoming and they cook the food quickly. The location is pretty much right in the hood. No problem for me. No gun shots or bums roaming by the restaurant. So i’m from NY and I love good Chinese food. Now that I live in Montgomery County, good chinese food is hard to find. I believe this place has the best Chinese food in the DMV area so I drove a whole hour to get it! The price is right and the flavor is outstanding! The Chicken Wings with French fries and General Tso Chicken with Shrimp Friend Rice is my go to. I’m sitting in my car and eating outside of the restaurant right now. No lie! Lol“

“This is the best Chinese takeout we have found in the area - we drive here from Waldorf to pick it up because it really is better than any other place we have found. The only one that comes close is Hunan Star in La Plata but this is still preferred. My husband loves their General Tso chicken and I'm a big fan of their Egg Foo Young. Portion sizes are large so we always have leftovers! Worth the drive to Manokeek!“
“Exceeded my expectations! Food was 10/10. Customer service was 10/10. My group ordered almost everything on the menu and we loved every dish. I was really impressed by the menu and its execution. I will make Black Dragon my first stop every time I visit Philly!“

“It's your typical urban Chinese takeout but I really like their dumplings and get them whenever I'm in the area. Gave it 5 stars because once they knew I spoke Mandarin, we really connected and reminisced about China ? two stars because of the bullet proof window and bars you have to order through and no place to sit and enjoy the food. But given the neighborhood, I guess I understand the security precautions.“

“Hands down, the best Chinese food in DC! I've lived here for 6 years and just started going here and I've been back 3x in the past 2 weeks bc they have the best sesame chicken with white rice, and today I got the honey chicken wings with fries, I like a lot of honey sauce, they even put it on the fries for me. Ofcourse, I cannot forget about the half and half lemonade tea ?
Parking: Its located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking spots
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for wheelchair accessibility, and no stairs leading into the business“

“The manager at this branch, Marley is a selfless big hearted generous man I would be happy to eat here again. Thanks brotherI was having a diabetic hypo (sugar low) my wife went to all the other restaurants in the exchange food court none of them would help my wife. She went to panda express last and told the manager my husband is diabetic . he gave her a bottle of orange juice. And told her to give it to me. His shop had not opened yet but he still gave her the juice. Where the other food places told her no we r not open. When i recovered i went to panda ex to eat food and stablise my sugar. The manage then asked me was i ok now. And he refused to take money for the orange juice. Wow what a man. I can see why he is the manager.“
