“Wow! What a fantastic place! I didn't expect much coming in for a business meeting, but both the atmosphere and food was just amazing!
Interior design is so well done - all the details are impressive, as well as a general look and feel.
And food... mmm.. food was 10 out of 10. 2 light dishes, dessert, tea and cocktail - everything was simply delicious! All the tastes in each dish are perfectly combined!
Service was average, but the other two components compensated fully for it.

“This is hands down the best cafe in the DC area. They take coffee making down to a science and do it with attitude. The ambiance is great.

It’s a big bike (bicycle) hang out spot over the weekends, lots of folks riding on the Rhode Island Ave Trolley trail divert here.

Their food options are very light but they do have decent pastries and bagels with cream cheese.

But all that other stuff aside, if you are a coffee enthusiast, you MUST check this place out. It raises the standard for coffee in the greater dc area.“

The food is good, and unique in its offerings relative to much of the cafe hangouts/restaurants nearby. It also helps that the staff (and patrons) are overwhelmingly cute & seemingly queer ;)

“I ended up at the Weathon location just by chance while waiting for an appointment in the area. The place is a counter with few tables located in the Civic Center/Library Hall. Coffee is really good, pastry was fresh and the lady at the counter was polite and kind. Highly recommended“

“I am not an egg person. I chose this location cause I saw they had a non egg bagel option. When there, they were out of one of the ingredients so I had to get an egg bagel. BUT IT WAS DELICIOUS. They made me an egg white version of the sandwich which is OFF MENU. Very accommodating and again soooo good even though I generally dislike eggs.

The coffee was delicious. Which is my number one thing.

It was a very cute cafe. It got HOT though because they roasted the coffee beans right there in front of you. Which was also pretty cool to see.

Service was pretty slow. But overall good. Especially considering I ordered off menu.

I had sent an email through their contact form which Laurie answered and gave me enough reason to bring my bike to Proteus. I brought my bike in this past Saturday. The first person that greeted me was Paul. He checked over my bike and let me know that my bike was really in great shape and made a few minor adjustments that he didn’t charge me for. He replaced my seat and clipless pedals with flat pedals. Literally everyone in that shop made me feel comfortable and welcome. Laurie, Jeff, Duncan, Andy, Paul, yall are amazing and made me feel at home. I live in DC, but Proteus is my go to bike shop now!“

A local was amazed at her coffee and will be a regular now. The employees were so kind and remembered my order every single day. Best dirty chai I’ve ever had! Quality coffee. Friendly employees. “Was in the area and just dropped by to check it out Ko's Kitchen. Was greeted with a friendly smile by the owner (I believe) and restaurant was nice and had plenty of tables for eating. I was hungry so I ordered the Loco MoCo platter with a fruit smoothie. Good flavorful dish for putting some meat on your bones! Nice local small family business to support.“

“What a welcoming little Ethiopian coffee shop! Once a market, Dire Coffee opened in 2020. Family-owned, Dire Coffee serves Ethiopian coffee beans in all different ways- black coffee, lattes, and more. I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Latte. It came out hot and strong. The woman behind the register, who's the wife of the owner, asked how sweet I wanted my latte. She was very kind!

To eat, they have a variety of food. I ordered one sambusa and it was filled with lentils. It hit the spot!

“I can see why people want to keep this little spot a secret. Tucked away on a side street this unassuming coffee shop is a real gem.

I got a caramel latte and one of the creme donuts and the coffee impressed me at the first sip. Really smooth, not bitter and perfect sweetness. The donut was a perfect accompaniment. Service was attentive and quick.
