“We went to Trattorias yesterday and the waitress and her staff helping her were just incredibly amazing! Leslie our waitress was phenomenal!! She told us about the specials and made them sound delicious and well worth our minimal wait - I would highly recommend you go here for all your special occasions!! The food was served hot and fresh!! We felt so glad we chose Trattorias for our special Valentine's evening. The restaurant and everything was very clean and the environment was very beautiful!! “Had a sign saying they were short staffed and service may take longer than usual. I experienced no lapse in prompt service. Everything was hot and tasty. The only thing I can say negatively is one of the crab lumps was black. Literally black. It should be red. It just looked spoiled. It was only one cluster. Maybe take a minute or two for quality control would be beneficial. All in all this is where I take my daughter for her birthdays at her request. All I can say is when you turn out the crab on the plate, just take a look and if something looks off just throw a different cluster especially for a $150+ meal.“

“Remarkable Defined: “Something so striking it makes you want to discuss or remark upon it.” This is Wright’s Tavern’s undercurrent. You feel the need - the obligation even - to touch on every aspect, each component, of this memorable dining experience.

We started with cocktails - sazerac was the crowd pleaser, and conversation starter for the evening. Tried to order one of these in Australia once...

For starters we took advantage of the scallop special and the crab cake - a menu mainstay. What is great about the special is they allow you to scale. Need another scallop? Two? No problem. Both superb and table was split as to which was the better. I leaned to the crabcake, as the scallop, while beautifully crusted, was just cooked enough to require a knife while I would have liked it fork-tender.

For the entrees we ordered the 20oz ribeye but substituted the offered side (mashed) for the dauphinoise potatoes. Astounding. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the dauphinoise may well haunt my dreams. As a steak purist, I was skeptical of their use of sauces and gravies but the mustard jus served with the ribeye is expertly paired. It needs to be noted they consider all the sides that come with their steaks interchangeable, and substitutes are welcomed and all sauces can be served on the side as well. Other entrees were the potato crusted halibut and the steak frites. Both beautifully presented and very enjoyable.

For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and the crème brûlée, the latter was silkier and smoother than what you may find elsewhere while the former was determined by all at the table to be their favorite. Recommend both without hesitation. 5/5

The service IS truly remarkable and I think what separates this venture from its peers. Professional, staid, but in an approachable fluid manner that effortlessly flows throughout the room while being omniscient without omnipresence. It is, however, ever obvious they hope to not have you linger, as after 2 hours our check was presented without request. I didn’t love that, but understand the logistical need. 5/5

Lastly, as noted by others the space is constricted. My neighbor behind me and I had a mini jousting match with our chairs. Even the short walk to your table over uneven floor should be done gingerly as you make your way to your smallish chair. 3/5“

“When I come home to St. Louis I always try to find the best tripe sandwich and I've found it at AAA Fish House.“

“We wanted Italian food and we decided to go on the hill to Zia‘s. We ordered pasta dishes, which was extremely nice portion size. The bread was delicious when you dip it in olive oil. I also had the French martini which was delicious. I think if you have a taste for Italian food pasta, you couldn’t find a better place.“

“After visiting the Fox Theater on Saturday we had reservations for 6. Our table was ready and our server Wendy was absolutely delightful. Our drinks, appetizers, dinner(fresh pasta) and desserts did not disappoint. The manager stopped by twice to check on us. Incredible! We wanted to bring Wendy home with us but we had to have her back by Wednesday! We can’t wait to return!!!! 10🌟“

“This is a mixed review. First the positives. The waiter Rob was superb. Pleasant personality and attentive but not intrusive. The busboy (I didn’t get his name) was also very professional, nice and efficient. There were six of us in the party and four in the party were happy with their meal.

Now for the shortcomings. I had the tenderloin medallions Oscar. I have honestly never had a tougher cut of meat. It was definitely overcooked. In fact, I asked my wife to try a small piece and she was shocked at how hard it was to chew with it being a tenderloin. The side dish of lyonnaise potatoes were dry and had no seasoning.

My wife had the Queen Cut Prime rib and it, likewise, was not tender in the least. I had a small cut and felt the same way. She did like the side dish of twice baked potatoes, and she really liked the key lime pie.

So, in summary, four of the six were happy. Just two of us weren’t. For the price of the tenderloin medallions and the prime rib entrees, I think the expectation of “tender” is a given with these two entrees. Sadly, the reality did not meet our expectation.

Not a disastrous night by any means, but not a superb one either.

“Most come to the Hill for Italian at the usual places, Zia's, Dominic's and Charlie Gitto's. Most will pass this gem up due to it being in the Drury Plaza hotel, you SHOULDN'T DO THAT. The food is made fresh to order and it clearly shows! The decor is very upscale and perfect for a business lunch or dinner and at $30 per person, a good deal. If you add wine the price will go up but would still be worthwhile due to the quality in evidence.“

“We go to Yellowstone Cafe every time we are passing through St. Louis. The Walleye fish dinner is their speciality but all their fish dinners are excellent. In our party our order consisted of Crabcakes, Frog legs, and of course the Walleye.
Three nights a week they offer a kids special platter for 99 cents! What a bonus for parents. Their French fries are very good! The Green Goddess dressing is excellent on their house salad.
The atmosphere is casual, so come as you are.“

“Hi, this morning, I had breakfast at Wakey Wakey. My eggs, waffle, and candied bacon were very good. My friend's citrus yogurt with granola and fruit was fantastic. I didn't even like yogurt, but I do now. My friend shared hers with me. It was fantastic. The only thing better was our waiter, Adam. He did a wonderful job. He answered a zillion questions and brought the food in a timely fashion. I can't tell you how nice he made our Monday morning. We'll be back.“

“This review is for the bakery ONLY. Everytime we go to St. Louis, we stop here (We live at the Lake of the Ozarks). The mini custard pies are amazing, try the fried, sesame seed balls which are filled with two different kinds of bean custard, both are delicious.
The yeast buns are stuffed with a variety of sweets and cheeses and are killer. On the right side of the shop as you enter, there are usually a few versions of the Dim Sum they serve next door in the restaurant and they are all DELICIOUS!

I've purchased the Duck & the deep fried pork hanging in the window, several times & it's been legit. We buy half a duck because there's only 3 of us, but plenty. I always order a small order of their rice so we can eat our duck at the hotel.
It can be VERY crowded on the weekends, so come as soon as they open. There's usually only the one lady working the register and dude chopping up the duck & pork, but they're fast. A++++ It's not cheap but it's soooo worth it.“
