“Inside very noisy, patio pleasant but sun shade not functional. Our order was ridiculously delayed, but to their credit they came and apologized and later brought complementary pastries. Food was excellent, some unusual flavor combinations.”
“Really cute cafe, nice menu, book theme is amazing. The cafe space is really neat and clean, the only bathroom / toilet is a nightmare. Seems like a contest of wills between employees & management to see who will crack and clean it first.”
“Delightful!Even the energy when we walked in the door was fantastic. The Zora Neale Hurston sandwich was loaded with flavor and perfect textures. The cauliflower wings had a fantastic crispy breading and wonderful sauce.Having Confluence Kombucha on tap makes for a killer drink option, along with Juices by Jess.I am looking forward to going back ASAP!”
“This place has legit full meals like burgers, sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, etc... Get down here ASAP. Best bang for your buck for breakfast or lunch food AND desserts. HUGE portions. Everything homecooked, everything reminds you of family from the decor, to the food (especially the desserts), and definitely the owners! It feels like being invited in to someone's kitchen with your friends.Ask about the secret salsa for sale, it is INCREDIBLE. It makes the salsa you've been eating taste like mush.VERY different from the same old Soulard stereotyped cafe. This one is worth a visit if you're from out of town and worth making your default spot if you're local.Ask about their Soulard Stamp Booklet for incredible deals as well.Vegetarian options: O yea, plenty to choose from and they're ACTUALLY good.Kid-friendliness: The kids will absolutely love this place. It is PERFECT for families, especially ones with kids. Anyone anytime should eat here.Parking: Park anywhere or walk here. An extremely large party of people could eat and park here.Wheelchair accessibility: Yup!Dietary restrictions: Just ask and Mrs. Angie will whip somethin up for ya.”
“I cannot say enough good things about Pint Size. I live about 5 minutes away and it’s amazing that I haven’t spent all my money here. The scones are absolute perfection, truly the best scone I’ve had in my life! I love the savory ones in particular and love how the flavors vary daily. The scones are buttery, flakey, and tender, with a perfectly golden exterior. They’re so full of flavor, and the best breakfast item!Next up is the oatmeal cream pies: a true stunner and an absolute must if you go here. Chewy, buttery, cookies with hints of molasses from brown sugar perfectly encase light, fluffy, marshmallow buttercream filling that feels like you’re eating a sweet, pillowy cloud! Also, do not skip the blondies!! These also vary in flavor daily, which is so fun because the flavors are always so creative! I recently had some kind of chocolate hazelnut praline blondie and it was sheer perfection. Again, buttery but not too sweet, tender crumb, the delightful crunch or candied hazelnuts, and pockets of chocolate made it something I never wanted to end!Go here and support an amazing, small business that works hard to use local ingredients and give you the highest quality baked goods! You will not be disappointed, you will only fall in love with how great this bakery is!!”
“Park Ave is my favorite coffee shop! Their cold brew, various lattes and food items are so good. The caramel madeline latte is my favorite (no need to add sugar, this one is sweet and delectable like a dessert). They don't have a full breakfast menu, but ask them to warm up a quiche slice for ya and it will do the trick! Staff is always friendly and efficient. I'm so glad they decided to have a coffee shop attached to their main roasting facility here. It's a gem for the neighborhood.”
“The bread was excellent, overall. The pretzel was decent but a bit overbaked. The pizza rosso bread was amazing but the oily tomato topping was odd and not my favorite. I’d like to come back for dinner to try their pizza but it’s kind of a hassle to get – you have to reserve a timeslot online at 4:00p the day of.”
“We had a great experience with the Cakery! Communication was super easy, they did exactly what we asked for based off our inspo photo, and the cake was delicious! We received so many compliments from guests at our wedding that they loved the cake. Would highly recommend.”
“I've been looking for my long lost dad for years, and thought I had finally found him at last. Was very disappointed to find out the Dad at Dad's was not my dad, but they gave me cookies anyway. ? They were delicious! Almost enough to numb the pain. Will definitely bring my Dad back here when I finally find him ❤️”
“Fantastic! The shop itself is not massive however there is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor.I had an Americano with a chocolate croissant, ham & cheese croissant, and coffee cake. The coffee was great and the food was very fresh.I highly recommend stopping by.”
“A friend told me about their grape cake, only available a couple of times a year in early September. Had to try it. Dough is similar to a danish, it's a single layer with the grapes piled into the middle. Simple, but good. Not overly sweet and the grape flavor came through. We also tried the chocolate cupcakes, those were very good. Fruit danishes were decent too but heavily iced and a little sweet for me.”
“So I go to the store at Soulards ... and I'm hooked- the product is very good and tasty, while the cause is spectacular. Quite honestly , I just went in and bought some treats I really didn't need just because I now feel compelled to. I'll hopefully share them with others while sharing their mission too. The service is always friendly and appreciative , while surrounding ... hey it's Soulard's Maret! How quaint can you get? Thanks guys!”
“This is one of the cutest coffee shops I have ever seen. It is in a very safe and hip neighborhood. The coffee was great and the food was excellent. I love the fact that they had gluten-free options in regard to cupcakes. I always enjoy supporting small businesses versus major corporation stores. If you're in the area it is worth going to. Also, the prices were very reasonable for a coffee shop in a major city.”
“I have never wanted to give more than five stars before but if I could....this place deserves all the stars. First time in (not the last) and we got a blackberries and cream brioche donut, a lemon meringue donut and the custard filled chocolate donut. They were all incredible but both my son and I agree that the blackberries and cream donut is literally the single best pastry/dessert we have ever had. My husband couldn't decide if that award went to the blackberry one or the lemon meringue. Truly amazing. So glad I discovered you- we will be back!”
“AMAZING SANDWICHES!!! Served on Lepinje bread (similar to a cross between a croissant & an English muffin), it was crispy & light. We got 1 with gyro & the other, cevapi. Both were delicious! (I really liked the flavor of the gyro tho) Next time, we will try the pljeskavica (spiced meat patty of beef, pork, & lamb). This little restaurant is worth the long drive! Now where can I get more of this Lepinje bread…? ?”
“There is no better cheesecake in St Louis, the US, and probably the world around other than Hank's Cheesecakes. These are absolutely delish and will leave you wanting more with every bite you take. The people are friendly and the cakes are melt in your mouth every single time. We've probably tried 90% of their menu and there hasn't been a single cake that has disappointed us. We've got their cakes for three birthdays, two anniversaries, we've gotten their cakes simply when we were in the area, and sometimes driven 25 miles just to get them. Yes, they are that amazing and I'm sure everyone who has been here agrees with me.We love their original followed by their double chocolate, praline, white chocolate, amaretto, and strawberry. Also, don't miss out on their raspberry, hazelnut, almond cappuccino. You just cannot go wrong when it comes to Hank's cheesecakes. The last visit made our day and that is why we just had to leave a review. Keri is a darling of a server. Unabashed for her love of tiramisu cheesecake and heck we had to get it. She let us take our time in picking, did not rush us at all even though it was just about half an hour to closing time. Thank you Hank's and congratulations on completing 40 years! Here's to another 40+ years!”
“Lindsey and her staff does all my cakes for my babies during their cake smash sessions. She has never not missed a theme and always pays attention to the details. She is always affordable but delivers great quality and taste for every client of mines. She is added vendor bonus to my photography studio and I love her and her amazing team!”
“Crumble Cookies is always clean and bright. The employees are friendly and quit to get you your cookies. And the cookies themselves are always delicious. The only thing bad about the always changing menus is if you find a cookie you really like it won't be there next week. So go as often as you can.”
“I've lived in the Hill for about 3 years and love this place. My first time going I grabbed a sandwich, got some advice from the guy behind the counter about some local places to buy the best sandwich ingredients, and while I was outside eating the sandwich and watching some videos, he came outside, gave me a glass of water (totally unprompted), gave me a friendly pat on the shoulder, and told me "something to wash it down with, my friend". Seriously, who the hell does that anymore? Great people, amazing food.”
“OMG! Deeee-licious! Flakiest crème horn! So many cookies to choose from & they are all good. Service was so friendly & helpful. Stop in and you won't regret it. Also open on Monday's when most bakeries on the hill are not.”
“Nice little no frills Mexican bakery on Cherokee street. Limited supply of baked goods available. The tres leches cake is really good. They have tamales too. You just need to know to ask for them. They come hot in a plastic bag. The green chicken tamales are delicious! On the weekends they sell tacos and other things outside.”
“Went today for breakfast. I have eaten lunch many times but this was the first time for breakfast. I ordered an Egg, Bacon and Cheese on Bagel. It was grilled and so good. I will be back for breakfast. I love the assortment of ice teas. My favorite is the Tangerine Green Tea.”
“A trip to the Hill isn't complete without stopping at Missouri Baking. It's chaos which is just one part of what makes Missouri Baking so special. The staff (everyone, young and experienced) are awesome in this fast and furious paced bakery. If there's a line don't worry they'll get you in fast and the wait will give you time to let your senses absorb all the goodness. My guess is you'll change your mind 3 or 4 times, or buy way more than you thought you would! It's so good. And the baked goods are off the charts. Pick whatever makes your eyes light up and you will be beyond satisfied. Today I had a custard filled puff (sorry no pic, disappeared like a magic act!). Wife had something gooey butter, daughter and grandkids had a variety of treats. All fantastic.”
“I tried the build-your-own breakfast sandwich. Ciabatta, egg, bacon, cheddar. Every single ingredient stood out! Good atmosphere that happened to have my kind of dance music three songs in a row. Definitely coming back in the future to try the pancakes and the breakfast burrito.”
“Publishing a new book was meantfor a special celebration, and the gala at Cookies By Design came through with such a fabulous way to depict the occasion with great thanks to those who have been pa special part! Thank you for this special chocolate chip cookie sheet! It was delicious!”
“FoodExcellent. Especially the savory tier! Presentation was immaculate and the pastry chef was interactive!ServiceGreat. "Tea will start shortly." Loved every minute of it and the staff was very attentive! Asked us if we enjoyed the pastries and if we would like a different tea blend.AmbianceDarling! Steps up a local pastry shop.”
“First time trying this place out after scoping it for a while, and I was not disappointed! Got an iced lavender latte which was nothing short of AMAZING, as well as a pistachio roll equally as tasty. The fresh baked, fluffy texture of the roll was perfect. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with an upstairs study area, lower level commons, and a beautiful botanical patio out back. I was helped by Ian who was also very friendly and pleasant to chat with! Will definitely be back here”
“Nice, clean shop with lots of options for cake and cookie decorating. The lady was very friendly. They did not have the items I was looking for to make a geode cake but they were very friendly and pointed me in the direction of where I could find those items.”
“We ordered Patty's Cheesecake Bar for our office birthday celebration, and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved the flavors and the ability to choose their own toppings... Also, Patty and her staff were AMAZING to work with... Highly recommend!”
“These fine folks are known for their thin pita (white AND wheat options!), which I keep in my freezer all the time. Additionally, they make the best baba ganoush I’ve ever had, and their lentil and rice salad with caramelized onions and their bulgur salad and their tabbouleh are such great lunch options for work. Sweets? Fantastic! Traditional and creative pride, and za’atar bread? Perfect Farmers Market noms (find them at the Tower Grove Market, Boulevard Farmers Market on Sundays and Thursdays at Rockwell Beer Garden at Francis Park). This family business is truly one to support!”
“Dessert heaven! You smell the aroma as soon as you walk in the door. So many choices of desserts. I enjoyed my selection of tamales (chicken), churros, pork skins and sweet rolls (cheese and strawberry). I highly recommend if you have a sweet and savory tooth.”
“Unequivocally one of the best Bosnian bakeries in St Louis. They bake their lepinja breads fresh on saturdays and the pitas will literally be hot to the touch and fresh out of the oven. There’s no menu but the bakers also make delectable burek that is sold out within minutes of opening at 9am, so you’ll either need to call in advance to order or get there right at opening time!”
“The only bad thing about this trip was that it took me this long to make it! Me and my teenagers spent the day visiting black owned businesses and Baby Kakez was one of the best!! From the moment we entered the owner smiled at us and engaged with us! We watched an exchange with the owner and a repeat customer, you can tell how good she treats her customers by the way they speak to her! We purchased these cupcakes, a brownie, and some cake pops and not a one disappointed! The strawberry cupcake stole the show! My kids said srarbucks cake pops just fell to 2nd place! And she offers classes for groups, couples, or whatver you got! Please go here and keep going back! Ty for having us!”
“We went when the cafe first opened. When we went, it was around 11am but we had ordered the last Croffles they had. They didn't have the breakfast toast and ran out of the croffles. The croffles were made ahead of time and decorated to order so were a bit cold and hard but they tasted pretty good and were so cute. The fruit teas are very good and refreshing! The workers were very nice and helpful. The interior is pretty cute but small. There are about 3 small tables and 1 big table. Parking is a bit hard since it's just street parking. We definitely want to try it again since the cafe has been open for a bit and has added some new food options!”
“Wow. What can I say. This is the best pretzel place in stl. My only critique is that they don’t sell vitamin water anymore. It used to be my go to drink but it seems like they stopped to selling it. My favorite is the Cajun Chicken wrapped pretzel. The pretzel compliments the spicy flavor of the Cajun chicken. 5 out of 5 I would highly recommend this very yummy pretzel place!!!”
“We love Kolache so I was excited when I found out this location opened close to home. The guy working the front was helpful, friendly and quick. It's the perfect place to hop in for a quick breakfast, lunch or grab and go for a meeting or event.”
“This was a fun find as we were traveling through St. Louis on our way home. I did a simple google search for gluten free bakeries and this little gem popped up! I was nervous with ordering because they are only doing curb side pickup on Friday and Saturday at designated times the customer picks. Once we found our stop for the night I placed my order to make sure I picked a designated time slot I could realistically make. Thankfully they were super easy to find and traffic was light that pick up was super easy. I ordered the oatmeal cream pies (4) and and apple butter snickerdoodle cream pie (2). I have not had an oatmeal cream pie since my celiac diagnosis in 1998 and I was super excited to see this on the menu! Both are incredibly tasty! The cookie part is more crispy than soft. The cream filling is smooth and not too sweet but compliments the cookie. I would describe these as more of a cookie sandwich but they are still just as yummy tasting! We brought home plenty for dessert tonight with the fam! The best place to find up to date information is on their website. They also have a FB page you can follow as well.”
“The cookies are humongous and delicious! I called to order the 4 dozen I needed, and everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The pricing on the website is incorrect, but I didn't mind paying more for this wonderful non-profit that helps to improve the lives of individuals affected by disabilities.”
“Cute place with good gooey butter cake. Lots of Flavor to choose from. It was fresh! The place is very clean and lots of seating. I had to have gooey cake seeming I was in at Louis and it being the home of. So I looked up places and this one popped up as the best. I was excited and after driving 4 hrs with only 10min before closing we made it. The girl waiting on us was shy and quiet with short answers. Another girl came out and seemed rude an just bossy. I know 10min before closing really but there were other people inside and more coming in as we were leaving. So I don’t think that was the cause of the off customer service. If I had not just been passing through st Louis heading to Branson I would have waited for the next day to visit. But aside from the off customer service food was great and we will stop back by when we have more time an not so last min!”
“I ordered from DoorDash becomes very quickly, they have a beautiful package green bags which is very eco-friendly. And also the cakes looks great. The boxes and the cake it self look great. Although I didn’t go to the shop I feel I am well served as a customer. They have different flavors. I just feel happy when I have if you want to surprise your friend, the only thing is It may contains too much sugar as they’re very sweet and a little bit costly too. Anyway, all in all I would recommend it if you just occasionally want to taste a cake and have a good time with your family and friends.”
