“Some friends had recommended we try Huli Sue’s while in Asheville. This place is a must-visit! Great vibes, delicious food and unique flavours. The mochiko chicken sandwich, the nachos, and the BBQ (especially the ribs) were all awesome. We also grabbed a brownie to go. Will definitely be back next time we are in Asheville.“
“We were greeted warmly at the door, and our server was extremely gracious and provided wine samples to help us choose the right bottle. The raw oysters were fresh and bright, the Big Bowl of Greens was a terrific salad to share. The NC Trout and Pork Schnitzel entrees were flawless. We shared a Black Forest Cake for dessert. In summary, it was a perfect dining experience.“
“We found this little gem by chance and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, kid friendly (albeit its an adult place). We sat at a small corner table by the bar. We enjoyed some sharable plates, great wines, mocktails for the kids, excellent wines and my wife a great Vesper made by Luci (the bartender). But the cherry on top was the fact that she made a perfect Irish Coffee - a simple drink, but buttered by 99% of the bar tenders. We will be back.“
“Feb 26, 2024Cathy Reynolds WinklerVery interesting food and diverse menu offerings - fresh ingredients and layered flavors.Great chill, boho vibe and super nice people. Live in Greenville but our go to place whenever we visit Asheville. Love to bring friends & family. They're always impressed with the delicious dining experience...“
“Good restaurant, atmosphere was nice and very easy to park. I'd stick to the small plates if I went back, nice to share with others and you get a good sampling of what they have to offer. The cocktails were good and the food was pretty well prepared. Ingredient quality seemed to be so-so, but that's been the case with a lot of restaurants in Asheville lately. Not top-notch, but not bad either.“
“One of my favorite brunch spots. I love the eclectic funky decor. I usually get the Opa Platter with Spanakopita and Greek Salad. I also like the Breakfast Burrito and the Hash. They have really good Bloody Mary’s and Mimosa's as well. There is over flow parking in a lot next to the Restaurant. The food and service is consistently above par.“
“We live here in Weaverville. We love to dine out and visit many good restaurants in the greater Asheville area. We are quite proud of our local fine dining restaurant, Glass Onion, here in our small town. The front of the house is very well run. The staff are all professional - just the right level of attentiveness, but also natural and personal. Teenagers are great in some settings, but here, you appreciate their absence. Not only the chef but the wait staff have real experience in this business. They have a sense of flavors when providing cocktails, wine, and food. Many have worked there for years. The martinis are the best in Asheville, and the food is wonderful whether you order seafood, steak, or pasta. Lovely people, lovely provisions.“
“This place makes an excellent martini (with blue cheese olives). It's a cool environment, somewhat crowded, but the busy-ness adds to the appeal. I think they shine more in cocktails than in food. The burger is made with American cheese, to its detriment. Burrata was good, and the table tried some small Spanish-style fish. We had another OK pasta dish as well. Less likely to return for a meal but happy to come for drinks + apps.“
“Loved the experience! The dining room is beautifully decorated. The bread that they brought out for an appetizer was really good. I especially liked how they had different types of bread to try. The food was very good too. I got the lobster tails, and both had really good flavor. Everything else in the dish was a very good compliment to it too. The filet mignon was very good as well. Very flavorful. Next time I visit I will definitely come back here for dinner.“
“Love, love this shop! They know what they are doing.Food is fresh and delicious, great flavor combination. Portions are just right. Desserts and treats. Amazing!!The dry goods in the shop are great basic things. (hissy hot sauce)Grateful for the featured local artist and unique items to purchase.Their menu is wonderfully created and the portions are just right. The atmosphere is calm, yet festive. Thanks for this wonderful place to take my friends when they come to town. As well as tea time with my local friends.CynthiaDietary restrictions: I am gluten free. Although they only have a few items that are gluten free they are delicious . I never feel left out. I enjoy them each time I visit. The staff listens to my needs and know their ingredients to assist with the best option. They know true customer service!“
“A surprise jewel in Candler!! Made to order everything so dont be in a hurry. Creative chef withmenu changes regularly.chicken bites are the best anywhere! Burgers just right. Full bar and nice wine list. Lovely owners. The best Candler has to offer for sure.“
“Atmosphere is cute and cozy. They have chill music playing. All types of people come in here which is nice to see! Seems to be a local favorite spot. The lavender latte and cappuccino were both great. We tried one of the chocolate croissants which they make in house. It is one of the best ones I've had that I haven't made myself. It had awesome texture and was a delight to dip into perfect latte foam. The food is good. It's all fresh and nutritious. I appreciate the thought that went into creating the menu and dishes. It is a few steps above regular "diner food" or your average cafe food.“
“This place is just like coming home to Granny's. Comfort food at its comfiest. The waitresses are kind and accommodating. The tables and floor are clean, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. I wish I could go every morning to start my day.“
“Our first time eating here. Very nice dine in experience. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Also have the option to dine outdoors. Food is very good and there's a wide selection. From sandwiches to pasta and pizza. Very reasonable prices. Range from $10-$20. There was three of us and it was around $54.00. I thought this to be a great deal .. Most definitely a place I would go to again and would recommend to anyone.“
“Don't miss this place while in Weaverville. First off, it's small, has beautiful artwork on the walls and very clean. The service is very good with friendly staff. I had the Bistro Burger and Fries, my wife had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with grilled Zucchini. Both of them were cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The burger is huge, see photo. In my years of looking for the best of the best burgers, this was it.“
“This place was absolutely amazing. Went here when I was in town visiting family, and now I literally dream about the Pimpin' fried chicken sandwhich! Will definitely be going back everytime I'm in Ashville. Highest quality ingredients, friendly service, clean facility. I do however wish there was more seating options as this place definitely seems to always be packed.“
“Amazing service by Sarah, such a unique restaurant that used to be a gas station and fresh, Local food. I gave food a 4 vs 5. Because there were no vegetarian or vegan entrees in the menu, nor was there fresh fish. That said, The sides were expertly crafted- including a vegetarian onion bisque, Caesar salad, beet salad and a crispy Brussels sprouts (that stayed crispy!). They specially made a fettuccine primavera for us on the fly.So worthwhile to take a lovely drive from Asheville to Marshall!“
“Interesting little spot in West Asheville. Smash burgers and fires were hot of the grill and very filling.Josh was both bartender and waiter but was very attentive.Parking: The parking lot is small, so we can see having to find a spot up the street and walk down.“
“This is the spot to go to when in Asheville or as a local looking for a restaurant who still prioritizes the ambiance and unmatched quality of food. Steph, Ralph and Tony are owners who care and love what they do. Easily my favorite spot to eat in Asheville. Not a bad choice on the menu. Ralph’s knowledge on wine is unreal and def worth listening to for pairing.“
“We had the very BEST experience with not only the food being delicious, but the staff was exceptional. Very kind, patient and thoughtful! We visited with our kids and they gave us coloring books for the kids, endless coffee and the darling cook made a heart shaped pancake for my son. Will def recommend and be back many times!“
“My wife and I happened to spot this cidery as we were walking through the South Slope area of downtown Asheville. Boy were we happy to bump into this place! A great addition to the many breweries that this area is known for.My wife is a huge fan of ciders. After trying the pick your own flight, she said this was one of the best cider experiences she has had. Sweet ciders, dry ciders, spicy ciders...you name it, they have it. In addition, they have a large assortment of beers as well for anyone who doesn't drink cider.Vibrant and fun place with super friendly staff. Add in some comfy couches, tvs, shuffleboard, pool table and a ping pong table, and you have one fun spot all the way around! Dogs are welcome inside, which is a huge bonus to any pet lover.“
“Solid, tasty brunch. I had the bagel and lox- it’s a perfectly sized portion, with plenty of salmon and roe- and the cream cheese is delicious! I got the Bloody Mary, which was good- the pork rind was a nice addition. My only disappointment was the cinnamon roll my friend ordered and shared. I was eager to try it since it’s famous in town, but it was completely stale. No effort had been made to even re-warm it, and it was hard. I will say that she enjoyed it that way; but being a pastry chef myself, I would never serve a cinnamon roll like that. I hope to try a fresh one and will update my review if I do.Over all, it was a nice experience and I’m looking forward to trying other menu items next time I brunch there.“
“The burger was tasty but got 4 stars for being shoved in a tiny basket on top of fries. It’s difficult to eat this way and got soggy. For what they charged slapping down a couple of metal baskets lined with paper seems like they could do better. They got busy after we sat, had just finished our food and was having the last sip of drink before leaving when the employee reaches over and says “can I take these”. Not a bad meal but the experience could improve.“
“After trying to order a pizza from the new place where we were told it would be 11/2 for a pie- we went to SSF. One of the first magical spring evenings, we dined in on the picnic tables. The food is always so good and fresh! If you have not been here you are overdue!!Owners are really great and accommodating! So many tasty treats….my favorite is the crunch wrap! With lime dressing…Sweet Southern Funk…?“
“We had a wonderful experience. We were lucky to get Grace as our server. We go every year on our travels back home.We went expecting our favourite tapas to discover a new menu. Our disappointment disappeared when we tasted our food.Innovative.Great mouth feel.Interesting flavours. We had 2 dips, eggplant and red pepper. Lots of fresh grilled pita. Plus a very tasty red fish.Exceeded all very high expectations.“
“Everything was perfect as usual , except the fried okra. It had alot of hard stick like places in it. Couldn't chew it or swallow it. It was like eating tree bark shavings. But like I said everything else was 5 stars as usual. One of our favorite places to eat.“
“Excellent. Brought my wife to this unassuming gem years ago for a date night ans we had a blast. They had frog legs and other adventurous delectables then and now that our kids are 8 and 5, I like to expose them to exciting food and restaurants from time to time, so we brought them. Sometimes kids at nice restaurants are unwelcome, so I scheduled earlier in night for the patio (6pm). We showed up 10 minutes early but we were met with smiles and and open table. Beware, there is no "kids menu" here, nor child beverages. However, our waitress was very kind an whipped up some Shirley Temples for them to sip on to feel fancy. The food was amazing, we started with the cheese board and olives - gouda & bleu with crostinis, toasted nuts, and a gooseberry jam - castelvetrano olives in a citrus marinade with blood orange segments and zest. They were great together and the kids enjoyed both - although much to the parents satisfaction, they shied away from the bleu. Next we had the head cheese, oyster mushrooms and pork belly as well. The head cheese is exactly what you would expect (if you go for that sort of thing), a little fatty, but when smeared on the bready toast points it's quite good - only wish we had more bread as it's too rich by itself, but we had more food. The pork belly was the most composed dish, well browned and juicy towers of pork on a pool of nutty/earthy sauce with crumbles of Rye. My kids don't like mushrooms, but I always make them try it again when we go somewhere new, this time was a miss for them but a HUGE hit for me. Brown butter and hazelnuts gave them a crunch and a coating of glaze that left them AND my taste buds dripping. Finally we shared the gnocchi - I had to explain what they were and how they were made to my kids so they could appreciate the dish. Fantastic pillowy bites of goodness with ramp green pesto, tetragonia and parmesan. By far the favorite of the night by all parties. We finished with the whiskey orange chocolate cake and a semifreddo sundae. All of this in about an hour with great service and hospitality in between. Well done on all fronts and one of the best Asheville has to offer.Kid-friendliness: Brought our kids Shirley Temples when they found out there wasn't much else for them. Friendly and engaging, as we as patient with them when ordering.“
“This place rips. Had the red beans n' rice + boudin balls and it was one of the best meals I've had in town all year. Everything was super flavorful and authentic tasting. 1 million percent going back and trying everything else - pumped to have some legit cajun food in town!“
“A blast from the past! Where else can you get good food for a good price and end your meal with Yum Yum? This is the only place around these parts near or far. When I read it on the dessert menu board, my wife asked what I had been drinking back up the hill at Hometown Power Hardware. She was seated with her back to the sign, and she couldn't read what it said. I told her again, but she still didn't believe me. It was the first time I had seen it offered on a menu anywhere before. We had a very good lunch, met some nice people and enjoyed our visit very much!“
“This is our favorite pub when we are in the Asheville area. Great selection of local brews, particuarly Green Man, good food, and great live music. The atmosphere is exactly what you might expect in a small pub in Ireland. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful.“
“Great venue and outdoor space to linger before the concert. Drinks were reasonable, and the food was very good. I saw Christone " Kingfish" Ingram. Great show, good sound. The concert was broadcast to an outdoor screen by two firepits.“
“Holy moly. What a fantastic experience. I was traveling on business and I popped into this place for a late lunch/early dinner and a couple of cocktails. First of all, the service was amazing. I guess I came around shift change bc I had two amazing bartenders. Rachel was my first bartender and what a gem. Such a beautiful and bubbly spirit that makes you feel so special. She was super funny and ridiculously gorgeous. Next up was Tara. She was so attentive and made sure I was always good with my drinks and food. Not to mention she’s extremely easy on the eyes. Sheeeesh. Both ladies were so cool and efficient. You can tell these women have been bartending for years. All the regulars loved them so much.Second of all, the food was to die for!!! I got the Vault burger and I give it 5 stars.Lastly, the vibes are perfect. Atmosphere and music and people were all on point. Love this place!!!!“
“This is a real Americana experiences that are so unique!Waitresses are so cute and fun! “ Sit anywhere honey “Breakfast is my favorite here- coffee is good and strong, biscuits flaky and warm…We come once or twice a month and we often see familiar faces… Everyone say good morning or nods! Its like stepping back in time…“
“From out of town and didn't want a chain restaurant. Found this place across from our hotel and wasn't disappointed. Our food was very good and our server took very good care of us as well. Would return if ever in the area again.“
“I absolutely loved the flavorful dishes served here! However, parking is a bit challenging since the spots are limited, and bustling crowds, while great for business, seemed to impact the overall customer service experience. Despite this, I loved the wonderful brunch offered and would highly recommend the huevos rancheros!“
“My wife and I were looking for a bite to eat before checking out a movie at Grail Moviehouse. We decided to get some pizza. We’re glad we went here. We went with Rose’s pizza and loved it. The crust was thin and delicious. The toppings were great - especially the garlic which was soft and buttery. They have a nice selection of beverages. I went with the Shanti Elixirs jun mocktail - blueberry basil. It is the best kombucha I’ve had - and I’ve been trying loads of them recently to find the right ones for me. Overall - it was a great meal in a wonderful area for artists and art lovers.Vegetarian options: There were a few different veggie friendly pies available. All of the ingredients for each pizza are clearly labeled so you can rest easy knowing you’re getting what you pay for.“
“Farm Dogs is one of the kiosks in the S&W Market- a beautiful food hall in downtown Asheville. I had the Farm Dog-hot dog on a soft bun with beef cheek chili, slaw, & chopped onions. The bun was so soft when I took 1st bite it broke right into so I had to eat my hot dog with a fork. The combination together of the local grass fed hot dog & toppings was delicious but so smothered in toppings I couldn't differentiate the meat from a pack of Nathan's! My husband built his own with chili & mustard. We also shared the pretzel knots. It was too early for the beer cheese to be ready. Beware that Lusty Monk mustard really has a bite to it! The server was fast & efficient & did a good job early on a Saturday AM.“
“This place was recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. We started off with queso fries and the super queso fries, both very good. We ordered their big cheese burgers, which were all cooked just as we asked, medium- rare on a gluten-free bun , medium, and medium well. And the youngest had their chicken nuggets and fries. The fries were fresh, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside.Everyone had the same expression after eating. THAT WAS GOOD!Our waiter was very attentive. He made sure we had what we needed. Overall, it is a very cool and chill atmosphere to have some good food.“
“This was my first time here and had phenomenal time. The vibes and decor were beautiful and perfect. The food was very delicious, with different kinds of small plates. We were treated very well by our waitress and staff. I will highly recommend this place. Surely will be “
“Bear’s bbq of Asheville catered my wedding this weekend in Boone, NC and they were amazing!!! My husband & I had ate here on a trip to asheville once and we were hooked. The food for our wedding was so great & the staff was incredibly friendly and easy to work with! I didnt even have the chance to worry about food clean up by the time the wedding was over because they were so quick! The tables were quickly bussed & leftovers put away for us to take home! We overestimated the amount of food we needed for our guest count, but I’m glad we did because I had guest going back for 2nds & 3rds! Even the leftovers taste amazing. Thank you so so much for a great evening!!“
“I get lunch here pretty often. The food is solid, the people are nice, and the atmosphere is very cute and fun. Great affordable spot downtown. I recommend the caesar salad with a scoop of chicken salad (it might sound crazy but it is tasty).“
“I ate here on a business trip, so normally you won't hit up the same place twice, but this place is awesome. The variety is unreal, and the menu is genuinely delicious. I can't wait to go back to that area.Kid-friendliness: Very family friendly atmosphere, with romantic privacy.“
“My daughter and I went to the Hungry Bear for the first time this morning. The food was generous and fabulous! Prices are very reasonable ; And our waitress was fast and attentive. We decided this is our new favorite breakfast place. We'll be back soon.Parking: Good parking on the lot.“
“Met some really nice people. Have karaoke all night on Friday. Prices were high though for a local bar. Love the business responded. Awesome you have cheaper beer!! Amazing. We drink alcohol most times. I've had alcohol at locations that weren't doing a craft drink at cheaper than the $9 was charged BUT I get it. Location plays a role in prices and you gotta do what you can. I just appreciate the business responded and cares. So I'm upping my rating to a 4 based on that alone. So many places don't care!“
“Stumble here for great late night food. Philly cheesesteak and grilled cheese were life saving inclusions to our evening. Fries were better than expected, alcohol selection was perfect. Lots of events but you're not surrounded by music or stand-up comedy if you don't want to be. If you are a lost soul in the heart of Asheville in the dead of night this is your lighthouse.“
“We were told this was a must visit restaurant. Parking was difficult- had to drive around to find an empty meter as it was before the 6pm cutoff. I thought the menu choices were limited. My husband had the Shrimp and Grits which he loved. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I thought the serving was small. It tasted good although the waffle was somewhat burnt underneath. The honey sracha sauce was hot! but very good. If you go be sure to sign up for their Social Club for a $5 off coupon.“
“We arrived a little early & they sat us immediately! The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived so they didn't mind to go ahead & seat us. Our seever was AMAZING! Explained the menu & recommendations overall awesome place to eat!“
“Somehow well-known, yet still an early walk-in, so off the "local secret" list. In similar balance, the experience is up-scale Asheville casual. Expect it to be a little pricey. Composed, semi-seasonal menu, not pretentiously obfuscated. Good ingredients conservatively elaborated, leaning toward French full-flavor. Service is professional without being stuffy or hovering. If accustomed to fine dining, appropriately AVL-relaxed; if new, not intimidating.-=-Setting expectations after reading other reviews: allow adequate time. The menu favors multiple courses and conversation. Think, "leisurely double-date with a short walk," if going to a show after dinner.“
“This is absolutely the best restaurant in town. I’d wager to say it’s the best in WNC… Do yourself a favor and give these fine folks a chance to serve you with great food, great drinks, and even better staff. Top notch from the front of the house, to the bar, kitchen, waitstaff, and management. I am a local business owner myself, and it’s our hometown communities that keep us going. BTW, Beck is AWESOME!!!“
“Great coffee, pastries and to-go snacks. This was an awesome addition to Leicester but like some newer spots they aren't that busy yet. Support local! I really think the owners need to invest in better signs out front to draw in customers.“
