“I would like to pass along my review on Lefkes. Specifically, the extraordinary "ambassador"--the Lefkes manager--Eva who greeted our party. She greeted our party at the door, made our group feel special while making each individual feel recognized in a sea of humanity of guests. We were celebrating an office birthday party. She greeted each person with an elegance be-fitting of European royalty, with class and style. She ensured we were seated with a wonderful view of the dancing and action, while being able to enjoy our personal space. The food was to die for...she assisted the staff in serving the food and clearing our table to keep our dinner moving. When one of the people in our party requested a frappe, Eva asked one of the servers, "Dimtry" to prepare a classical Frappe. It was rich and creamy...Eva capped off our evening by having birthday pastries brought out with the flaring streamer...a memorable event from a very memorable person! thank you Eva and Lefkes! it became our Greek vacation! “After visiting Estiatorio Milos at Hudson Yards last week, the comparison made me realize that I’m actually far more drawn to the dining style of Anassa Taverna. There’s something about its atmosphere and approach to food that feels warmer, more effortless, and genuinely enjoyable rather than overly polished. The lobster pasta was outstanding — rich, flavorful, and beautifully balanced — while the fried calamari was unexpectedly impressive, perfectly light and crisp without feeling heavy. It’s the kind of meal that stays in your memory not because it tries too hard, but because every detail feels naturally well done.“

Food was okay, definitely better options in Astoria and better priced, but portion sizes were very generous. The only dish we really didn’t like was the octopus, they serve it cold and had a funny after taste but everything else was good. Dakos salad was nice and ribeye was perfectly cooked. “Came here for Monday lunch. Food was good but not amazing. But the service was very slow. Ordered the standard lunch prefix menu (app, main, dessert) and ended up spending almost 2 hours, mostly in waiting, not what I would expect from lunches.“

“We first heard about Tony’s on Jon Barr’s YouTube channel (prepping for our first NYC visit). Can only say that this is the perfect spot to get food, and then go eat it in Central Park.

Both times we visited the food was great, staff was very friendly & we received our orders within a couple of minutes.

“Had their food for the first time the other day as takeout. Staff was very nice. Food was good. I had the gyro sparta wrap...very good I also tried their rice pudding. It was very good but I think $7 for a cup is pricey. I would go back to try other dishes.“

“Christos Souvlaki Stand is a gold mine and I say that because there isn't a day that there isn't a swarm of customers gathered here. His souvlaki is the absolute best within the Astoria area!
It's always so fresh, well seasoned and prepared right in front of you and can be topped with whatever sauce you want - my go to is the BBQ sauce.

Our server knew a lot about the history of the restaurant and was helpful in suggesting a wine with dinner. The hummus, lemon potatoes and steamed vegetables were all very savory! “The octopus is PERFECTLY cooked. The flavors are incredible. I only wish it came with some potato or salad underneath. We also got the lamb fricassee, that sauce is so lovely and lemony. I think the lamb was just a touch over cooked but that is my only note on that dish. We got a half portion of rice on the side and I would recommend so you can savor every last bit of the sauce! The service is great, and I love the atmosphere. It feels like old New York and you are surrounded by Greek families in the restaurant. They gave bread with a delish vinegar and the end of the meal was a nice rice pudding dessert on the house. I will definitely be coming back!“

“I came here for the chicken cheeseburger and fries, and both were really good -fresh, flavorful, and just the kind of comfort food you want. The service was friendly and the place feels cozy, nothing fancy but nice quality. I also tried the baklava since they didn’t have cheesecake that day. It was okay, maybe 6/10, not something I’d order again. But for sure, if you come here, get the chicken cheeseburger with fries , that’s the real highlight“
