“An excellent restaurant for many reasons. 1) Lovely setting, atmosphere and staff2) Really reasonable prices for the quality of the food on order and the popularity of the place3) The food was just exceptionally executed. They’ve taken authentic Sichuan Cuisine and elevated it, cleaned up some of the unrefined flavours and delivered it.The best dish was the Pickled Fish, they’ve kept the sourness to a good level and made the fish the star of the show in stead of the swimming pickles.Top mentions to the Deep-fried shredded eel (not seen this on a menu before) and it was a great “snack dish”. The sesame balls dessert was a really good surprise, the sesame paste was smooth and not overpowering at all (like it normally is). The chicken & lotus root dish was very well executed, soft chicken and I liked that they kept the bones to a minimum (often it can be more bone than meat).Average dishes were the shredded potato, sweet & sour pork and pork cold dish. All them were well done but of the standard I’d normally get in China.“

“Service was much faster than I expected, but the food was even better. The pickled okra was delightful, just the right amount of crunch with plenty of garlic, chili's, and green onion. The changing chicken was dry fried with tons of chilies that dish is all protein, no brakes. Save room for the rice wine soup. I know it sounds odd, but was a great end to the meal. Cocktails are also great, but be sure to slow down and enjoy them!“

“I will rate this place somewhere between three and four. The restaurant is beautiful, and the staff were courteous and friendly, well deserved 5-star rating. The food is a hit and miss. You need to know what to order in this place, otherwise, the dining experience could be unpleasant to your palates. The ribs in the cage looked fun but not impressive while eating them. The bathrooms were super unpleasant. It is a publicly shared bathroom and is poorly managed.Vegetarian options: There were not a lot of vegetable dishes here, but decent selections. Need to specify no meat for special dietary requirementsParking: The parking lot is expensive in the basement, and SUPER DIRTY AND SMELLY in the stairwells.“

“2024 update:I take back what I said below. They updated the mapo tofu dish with soft tofu. I gave this place another chance and it’s actually an amazing restaurant with so many flavorful dishes. Still one of only TWO true Szechuan restaurants in Brooklyn.I just came here during the day for the first time yesterday, and it was such a nice vibe to sit in the restaurant with the sunlight. Very cute vibe, no loud music, and friendly attentive staff. The best way to judge a good sechuan place is by their Mapo Tofu dish. This place uses firm tofu in theirs and the sauce is very off. Very disappointing and not authentic. If I can’t get a good Mapo Tofu somewhere then it is pretty much a deal breaker for me.“

“Awesome Sichuan spot on the west side that’s got a nice vibe and serves up some great food. Come hungry - the dishes are all on the larger side and it’s easy to over order, which we did - but for the price I’m not complaining. My favorite was the fish filets with green peppercorns which was fire! It was spicy, which I love, but for those more timid they do warn you about the spicy dishes. The mapo tofu was also really good though they serve it vegetarian without the minced pork more typical in China. I’d definitely come back though to explore more of the menu.“

We ordered 2 lunch sets + an extra main which is just right for two people with large appetites. The double cooked pork and spicy chicken were exceptional - honestly a quality I’d expect in China. The eggplant dish was a bit too sweet (and I’m from an area that eats sweet) but cooked just right otherwise. Ingredient quality was excellent. Highly recommend going for lunch!“

“My first impression of this Hot Space restaurant is their staff is very friendly and willing to answer your questions. For a first time visitor, that's definitely helpful. When we ordered the food, the waitress patiently explained what are the menu and what are the dishes they are known for. She even suggested the spiciness, and warned us the extra ingredients might ruined the perfect flavor. The restaurant prepared the food in the kitchen to maybe 95% done, and then sent the grilled fish in a tray on a stove to our table. The server told us to wait a few minutes for the flavor to fully sink in.We got the strip bass with the golden combination. The fish was grilled just right. The skin was crispy and easily separated from the meat. The meat was at an excellent tenderness. Under the fish were the golden combination ingredients we ordered. They added ample spices to create the flavor and sauce to dip the fish into. After the meal, we overheard that the restaurant doesn't do takeout. I think they want their diners to enjoy their dishes at the best quality. Takeout orders simply can't do justice.“

“Northern Sichuan jelly has a cool red oil flavor. The hand-shredded cabbage pot is very filling! Very appetizing! The twice-cooked pork is very generous, the meat is a little fatter, and the taste is very authentic.Green Sichuan Pepper Diving Fish, not very impressive in appearance, but the seasoning is so good that my lips are numb after eating it.The spicy pepper chicken tastes a bit like spicy chicken, I think it’s delicious! The spicy chicken is very, very tasty, and the taste is very rich, numb and spicy. The little twists inside are a surprise and delicious. The meat of chestnut braised pork should be fried first. It is very fragrant, fat but not greasy. The chestnuts are sweet and the sauce is perfect when mixed with rice.Black truffle cauliflower is a very special dish. The cauliflower is not the type that is cooked in a dry pot. It has a healthier taste and is quite delicious.Rice wine is added to the jelly, which is not very sweet. It can be used to relieve the spiciness, but it is not recommended. The beef in sour soup is super spicy and sour, very delicious. The beef chow mein was a bit salty.Potato beef is completely delicious that you can make at home. The red soup double crisp is okay. “When I came to New York, I really wanted to eat Taiwanese food, so I used Uber eats to find this Chinese restaurant and ordered it once on 4/3, 4/4, and 4/6.The food is all very delicious and of a high standard. Maybe because I am Taiwanese, I feel that many dishes tend to be oily. What impressed me most was the stir-fried bean sprouts (vegetarian), which really covered the bottom of the plate with a layer of oil. , it should be oilier than the stir-fried vegetables in Taiwanese hot stir-fry restaurants. It may have been adjusted to suit American tastes, but it is still delicious! The bean sprouts are full of tenderness.Compared with Taiwanese food, a delivery portion can feed 3-4 people without any problem, and the taste and portion are quite sufficient. What I really like is the spicy and sour potato shreds, which are spicy and sour enough. The crispiness of the potato shreds is also very good. In contrast, if I order the hot pepper potato shreds afterwards, it is much inferior. The potato shreds are not crispy enough and have no texture. Highly recommended, if you can tolerate spicy food, I recommend ordering the hot and sour flavor.I have ordered lettuce with scallion oil twice. It tastes good but the portion is small. It can only be served for 1-2 people (I can eat it all by myself). It tastes very good. The family tradition of pickled pork soup is also very delicious. It is a soup that takes time to cook. However, my family felt very thirsty after eating it. The pork belly, sliced and bamboo shoots are very filling, but the texture of the bamboo shoots is not that crispy. .The seafood fried noodles are above the standard, with enough ingredients and moderate seasoning. Since I can’t finish it, I have to refrigerate it to eat the next day. The texture of the noodles is still the same and not too bad.Kelp and winter melon pork ribs soup. The kelp is a bit too big for Taiwanese people, making it inconvenient to eat. The soup is very flavorful, and the flavor of the winter melon is cooked in. The ribs may not be very chewy because they have been stewed for too long.Based on the above, if Taiwanese come to New York and miss Chinese food, they can come here to eat. The taste is not bad and the per capita price is about US$20-30 (in terms of delivery platforms).“

“Wow that mapo tofu with beef was so delicious!! It’s a take out spot, not sure it was once a restaurant as it looked nice inside even with it being blocked. It was very filling, it was a deep bowl filled with mapo tofu beef and some greens and sauce. With white rice. It can easily be missed, the sign they have is not really good. If you know, and if I lived very close, it would be hard not to want to come at least once a week. Amazing value in a very built up part of town. The lady who took my order and gave me my food and utensils was very pleasant.“

Additionally, the service is impeccable, with servers who are incredibly friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Dim Sum Chelsea for a fantastic dining experience.“

The flavors may not jive with people looking for typical Americanized Chinese food but it is definitely worth a try. Oh and especially the dumplings in chili oil and the red bean buns for dessert. “Been coming to this place for over 10 years and finally getting around to write a well deserved review. Whether it be their lunch special or dinner menu, they do not disappoint. My favorite is their dry pot dish, braised beef noodle soup, and the sweet and tangy orange beef. The appetizers are excellent as well as the typical Szechuan cuisines. “If you're looking for a skewer place this is the spot. Skewers are super cheap 60c each plus you can also order additional items from their menu. Get the spicy broth along with the pork bone. The spicy broth definitely has a kick if you are a fan of spicy food. Definitely goes well with the skewers plus an ice cool beer ! The restaurant is spacious with enough tables; there are a lot of different variety to choose from. They also give you a bag to put your jacket so it doesn't smell and an apron so your clothes don't get dirty. The service is top notch no complains there ! Will definitely be back! “Absolute recommendation for (European) tourists who had enough of the crazy prices for mediocre food and service you get in NYC. The food is great and the menu offers a lot of options. Waiters are very friendly and helpful when you have questions regarding choices of food or wine. The portions are huge and at a very reasonable price. They also know their wines and this was the only restaurant who asked a fair price for a glass (comparable to France, Italy and Belgium). To top it off, your glass of wine arrives almost completely filled to the top! This was the only restaurant during our stay in NYC we (gladly) tipped 25%.“
