“Put this place on the map!!!! A tried a true, best of the best, MUST go to spot when visiting (or living in) NYC. No exaggeration, my boyfriend and I haven’t stopped talking about this place since we visited last year. We’ll finally be back in town next month and are beyond excited to be dining with them again. Did we book a trip just to eat here!? Maybe… probably… because seriously, this place is exceptional. The owner is the sweetest, most delightful human with an incredible story and the food/service is an unmatched experience. Plus, you simply can’t beat their affordable omakasi prices…but the bigger bonus??? BYOB. Bring your wine, bring your tequila, bring neither or bring both. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a party in the most intimate sense. I never write reviews, but Sushi YOLO is a 10/10, so please, do yourself a favor and go see them before they earn that Michelin Star!“

It makes me very happy that this exists in a town/area that means a lot to myself and many others.
I encourage everyone reading this, whether you are in the mood for food, milk tea, or other treats, they have you covered here and with a smile and great conversations.
Bless the owners of this establishment that have spent their lives making the lives of others better via their hard work and tasty recipes!!!“

“Our 1st omakaze experience & def not the last! I love the smallness of the place, it makes it special! Everything melts in your mouth! The best Christmas gift ever!“

“You cannot beat their happy hour! Each piece of sushi is around double the size of your typical NYC piece. I also got the sushi tacos and those were fun and different from what I typically get. I also got a bottle of the cold sake. I will definitely be coming back here soon!“

“Simplemente impresionante. No pensamos que algo así pudiera existir en NY. Los sabores propuestos son increíbles. El valor no está en las paredes o mobiliario, sino en lo que llevas a tu paladar y la atención personalísima, atenta y divertida. Gracias, gracias, gracias...“

“This was our second visit to Noz Market. They never fail to impress and satisfy. The cuts of fish are large and wrap all the way around the rice. The nigiri are seasoned perfectly, skillfully and with precision. The chefs here truly practice the art of sushi. The two omakase options are reasonably priced, and you can add extra pieces at the end of the experience. My Japanese fiancée emphatically approves, which should tell you what you need to know about this restaurant. Not too difficult to make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time, but definitely make one in advance. We will most certainly return.“

“Small restaurant but big flavor.
The chicken teriyaki box is a great deal served fresh with fantastic flavor and came with so many delicious sides. I also tried a couple of sushi rolls and seems like you can't go wrong with any options. I haven't had fresh cuts of fish like that anywhere else! Definitely recommend!“

“I had an issue with an excess charge on my credit card for a take out order. The owner contacted me and investigated it. He refunded the excess amount and I'm glad they are on top of it. Great customer service and really wanting to make things right.
Overall, I enjoy eating here and I've recommended it to my family and friends. I have tried a couple of their dishes and they are popular for their handroll. Sushi set is also a must. The sea bass is my fave, it just takes a while to be cook because they grill it. My bf likes the hormone don. A good spot for those who wants to try korean/ japanese fusion dish. The take out box sushi set presentation adds a nice touch. ?“

“Absolutely loved our experience yesterday. The basic omakase was delicious at $38, no hidden charges, and staff were lovely. Only slightly minor quibble was everything seemed a bit rushed and a little less peaceful than other places I've been to, but fair enough at that price. I was also a bit surprised at the rudeness of a customer talking on her phone when the staff were trying to engage her. That's not the restaurant's fault but maybe worth having a sign about using phones less and being in the moment more?!“

“It was a great experience for our family. It was the first time for my son to have hibachi and he loved the tricks and entertainment that came with it. Both of our servers were very attentive. Our cook was very sociable and he paid extra attention to our son, even giving him corn and extra vegetables. To top it off he wrote “I ❤️ U” with the food. The meats were very well flavored and yummy. The place was very full and crowded. It was hard to hear our conversation.“

“The rolls are fantastic but the wagyu beef steals the show here. Mango roll with tuna is something different and one of my favorites on the menu. The owner is a wonderful man and the place is extremely clean. You can tell how much pride is taken in this place for our community. I highly recommend it.“

“I would say this is the best Hibachi I have ever had! All are cooked from the top notch fresh ingredients. The sea bass is juicy, the steak is just right, the fried rice and noodles have a pleasant garlic favor which I never had it before at other restaurants , homemade teriyaki sauce adds just right sweetness. We really enjoyed every portion of our plate! Highly recommended.“

“I’ve been over 5x in the past 5 months and they’ve never failed me. Staff and chefs are amazing. You must get the omakase (Lunch and dinner) or higher premium cuts because they source really really amazing stuff and you don’t want to miss out. The more basic common sushi is also great for more casual. And the omakase stuff that is truly the stand out ? high quality everything“

“As I walked down the bustling city street, my eyes were immediately drawn to a colorful food truck parked at the edge of the sidewalk. The exterior was vibrant, wrapped in bold hues of turquoise and orange, with hand-drawn illustrations of steaming bowls of terrys and stacks upon stacks of yakis, just what i came for. The name of the truck, "Terry and Yaki" was painted in a playful font, inviting passersby to stop and indulge in something delicious. The aroma in the air was intoxicating—a blend of spices, grilled yakis, and something faintly sweet, it was the terry's. It danced through the evening breeze, tantalizing enough to make my stomach rumble, despite the fact that I wasn’t even hungry.
I didn’t eat there, but the food truck looked incredible, a perfect marriage of design and function. The window was flanked by chalkboards displaying the daily specials: "Tuesday Terrys," "Yakis and Yakis" and they switched it up that day with some "Yakis and Terrrys" Each description sounded like a little adventure, a story in itself. I imagined the explosion of flavors in my mouth—the spicy kick of Terry on my soft, soft mouth, the zesty brightness of lemongrass mingling with the tender terry, the crunch of fried yaki wrapped in something soft yet crispy.
A small line had formed in front of the truck, and the people in it were chatting excitedly as they waited for their orders, their faces glowing under the soft lights that adorned the top of the truck like twinkling stars. "Il take a yaki to go, hold the terry" said the valuable customer. The chef, visible through the window, presumably named Terry, but it might be Yaki i dont know though I dont work there. What do I know however, was how he(?) moved with precision and speed, his(?) hands a blur as he(?) expertly plated each dish. He(???) would glance up occasionally, smile, and exchange a few words with the customers, adding a personal touch to the whole experience.
I could sense that this wasn’t just about the food—it was about the moment, the connection between the creators and the consumers. The truck itself, like a moving beacon of culinary creativity, seemed to promise more than just a meal. It was offering an experience, one that would linger long after the last bite. Even though I didn’t order anything, just standing there, observing the scene, felt like being part of a shared narrative, one written in the language of food, atmosphere, and community.
As I walked away, the scent of the food still trailing in the air behind me, I couldn't help but think that one day, I would come back and finally taste what "Terry and Yaki" had to offer.
2/5“

“Shinbashi is hands down one of my favorite restaurants on the Upper West Side, and it’s one of those rare gems that you just can’t stop visiting once you’ve discovered it. Every time I go, I’m reminded of why I keep coming back—it’s not just the food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. From the moment you walk in, they make you feel like family, always greeting you with a smile and ensuring you have everything you need. I am completely addicted to their pork katsu curry udon and bento boxes (that karaage and ginger pork are no joke!). The quality of the food is always top-notch, and you can tell that the kitchen takes great pride in preparing each dish.
If you’re in the Upper West Side and haven’t been to Shinbashi yet, do yourself a favor and go!“

“I am a big fan of Sushi. Today I found my favorite eel dragon roll here. The combination with eel sauce is just perfect! I also tried fried sushi for the first time. It’s really good, with a crispy texture. The owner mentioned that it’s a new addition to the menu by the chef as an “open food.”Although the wait was a bit long, it was definitely worth it.“

“I must say this was probably the best sushi I've had. Great 'little' place, two, extremely kind, owners work the restaurant. I had the Tsunami Roll, my daughter had Shrimp Tempura and Pink Lady Rolls, and ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! We had one of each Mochi (4), Strawberry, Coconut, Green Tea and Mango...delicious! I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant, great food, service and relaxing place, very nice ownership with great pride in their business.“

“I can't rave enough about this place!
We came for lunch to celebrate our 20 year anniversary and were blown away! The food of course was the best sushi I have ever eaten, but what was even better was our experience. Chef Masa's team led by our man Geno was ridiculously amazing. They took care of us like family and it really felt like a celebration. Thank you for making it such a memorable experience! By the way, we didn't forget about the cigars!“

“It's been years coming to parsley, I mean how can you not come here. Let me explain to you that this woman all by herself is managing this place. From Onigiris to Tuna Don, Maze Gohan as well as ramen soups. I mean everything is so perfect. She has a great selection of sake to die for as well as beer. Without mentioning that there is a variety of Wines. Excellent for Dine in and takeout. Overall, a great place for dates, as well as coming alone. You will not be disappointed.
Vegetarian options: Tofu soup, Vegetable Gyozas, vegetables Onigiris.“

“I own a business in the same strip next to Sushi Nigiri. I have been ordering Sushi from there since it's opening. I have never written a review until now, but I must say, this place is AWESOME. I'm used to New York City sushi (I live in Manhattan) and this is just as good as most places. I highly recommend this place and I wish this place does more business!“

“I had an incredible dining experience at this sushi place!
The food was fresh and absolutely delicious, with the fish tasting as if it was just caught.
The service was excellent attentive and friendly, making sure everything was perfect throughout the meal.
The highlight of the evening, though, was the mango panna cotta. It was the perfect way to end a delightful dinner—refreshing, smooth, and bursting with flavor. I cannot wait to return! Highly recommended!“

“It is not often enough that great atmosphere and ambience pair together with great food, but this place has done just that.

“This is by far the best omakasi restaurant I have ever been to in all of NY and/or ever. I am shocked to read that there is even one negative review. And honestly, everything that they complained about is exactly what my husband and I love so much about the experience here. The staff is by far the best. You feel like you are at cheers where everyone knows your name, preferences, and favorite drink (even when you can’t remember it yourself). Extra shout out to Nini and Chef Lin who have been our favorites since Covid. We have brought all of our friends here to experience the amazingness of Ishikawa and they now all come without us. This is our special occasion place and we are still always amazed and surprised by how great the pieces are (always something we haven’t had yet after all of these years!)“

“We had some yakitori and most of the skewers are very nice. I especially like the chicken thighs and the pepper stuffed with meatballs.
However some of the skewers are not very flavorful, such as the chicken wings. Also didn't enjoy the chicken skin - I was expecting it to be more crispy and less oily.
The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was friendly.“

“What a gem! My family recently decided to try to find another local sushi place instead of our regular spot and we are so happy we did. Just walking in was so warm and welcoming. This place is a real jewel box, decorated and styled so as you actually feel you are in Japan. Sandy, our host and server, was so nice and attentive. Chef Sung prepared some of the best sushi we have had in ages. The fish was exceptionally fresh and expertly prepared. We were really hankering for sushi that night so the only cooked things we ordered were shumai and eel but we are already looking forward to going back and trying more things.
I don't often know what to make of other reviewers takes as I do not know their palates. But I can tell you that we have had sushi everywhere from North Jersey/NYC, to SF, to Japan and IMHO this place was truly fantastic. The price was also right on point, not so cheap that you question the quality but not so expensive that it is out of reach. This is definitely our new spot!
Helpful hint, if you are looking for a menu preview, it is most easily found through the google listing“

“Outstanding food. One dish better than the rest...especially the appetizers. Favorites were the kampachi jalipino, shishido peppers, pork buns, Agassi tofu, and warm mushroom salad. Our waiter was extremely attentive, making sure the huge amount of food we ordered came in a timely manner and that we never needed to ask for anything (water glasses filled, clean plates arrived like magic before we needed to ask, etc,) This restaurant is consistently a gem.“

“The food was incredibly good and authentic, capturing the true essence of Japanese cuisine.
The prices were quite reasonable, offering excellent value for the quality of food served. It’s a fantastic place for dinner or lunch.
For lunch, the izakaya offers set meals only, but they were equally impressive. The lunch sets were well-balanced and satisfying.
Overall, Donburiya is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese flavors. Highly recommended!“
