“The pineapple pork bun at Mei Lai Wah is an absolute masterclass in contrasting textures and unapologetic flavors.
It is a heavy, comforting contradiction a hot, savory meat filling locked inside a sugary, crisp pastry shell. Because both the cookie crust and the barbecue glaze lean heavily into sugar, it is an intense flavor bomb. It can feel incredibly rich or even one-note after a while, but when you catch one fresh and steaming straight out of the oven, it is the ultimate sweet-and-savory comfort food.“

“😍My very first time here. I was served by Jason, food captain. I guess I was spoiled by his hospitality because I tell you, WHEN I return, if I not being served by him, I'm not going. Every now and again you come across a server who truly enjoys making people fell comfortable, that's Jason, in a nutshell. The food was extraordinary, complimented by spectacular recommendations and hospitality!!!!“

“Hands down the best Peking duck in NYC—Eater wasn't kidding! The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat so tender, wrapped in thin pancakes with sweet bean sauce and fresh cucumber. We also loved the spicy diced chicken (so addictive!) and the tableside mapo tofu that arrived bubbling hot. Everything was flavorful, well-portioned, and service was smooth.“

“Baodega is one of the best restaurants in NYC. Places like these are what makes this city as special as it is.
My family has been coming here most weekends for years, and have never had a meal short of exceptional. The service is attentive and kind, the food is incredible and there is no feeling for us like sitting at a table in Baodega.
The food is incredible and always brings us back. The pan-fried bao on the first page of the menu and dry pot chicken or beef are standouts, but every item on the menu we’ve tried has been phenomenal.
Baodega is a very special place that deserves to be among Best Of lists. I hope it never closes. Thank you for serving the best Chinese food in the city!!!!!“

“The place takes you back in time. The food is very authentic. I discovered this place years ago by chance. Some Canadians were walking out from it and I asked how was the food. They said best Chinese food. The first place they dine at when visiting New York. My daughter and I tried it and truly enjoyed it. Every time I visited her in NY we made it a point to eat there at least once.“

“We had such a great meal at Pig Heaven! The BBQ spare ribs were so tender, flavorful, and perfectly glazed. We also really enjoyed the soup dumplings, Peking duck, Sesame chicken, noodles, and Mapo tofu. Everything came in generous portions and was great for sharing. The staff was friendly and welcoming too. Definitely a great Chinese spot on the Upper East Side. We’d love to come back!“

“Found this gem today and quite happy we did! We had lobster with pan fried noodles and young chow fried rice. For a party of 3, it was more than enough and with one order of the har gow dim sum we even have enough to take home! The lobster was fresh and the noodles delicious, the young chow fried rice is very tasty and not oily. The staff are very courteous and attentive and the place is clean and welcoming.“

“Food was overall good and had some interesting fusion dishes. The highlights were:
- steamed fish
- pork ribs
- fried rice with chasiu
- roast duck
It is pricy for sure but the atmosphere was mostly nice.

“Really good. I had the scallion pancakes, then the Szechuan tofu and rice. The tofu was super crispy, and it was delicious without being too spicy or greasy. Good portion and a reasonable price. It's more of a counter/takeout spot. I sat down and got table service and the staff was great, but I'd recommend takeout.“

“Really nice decor, if you’re in a group I’d recommend a reservation but walking in as 1-2 seems doable. Service can get backed up quickly so sometimes it takes awhile to order. But once they see you’re ready the waiter/waitress will make a point to get things moving for you. Food is excellent.“

“Happened upon this corner spot with low expectations when in the area. Very happily surprised! Super chill down to earth. Delicious curry soup and beef bowl. Mostly delivery orders so it was easy to sit for a while. No plugs but easy to work with laptop.“

“If i could tip $100 dollars i would. this place is outstanding, the dumplings are delicious, the place is so cozy and so is the food. and the staff are so kind and prioritize you no matter what. i came in here at 11pm and there was only one person working and i still had a better experience than if i was at a high end restaurant. i could not recommend this place more. excellent dumpling house, i love you!!“

“I love your general tso's chicken but the previous was much better. After you guys closed and reopened this week, the recipe for your general tso's chicken changed. I order it several times a week and am a bit disappointed. Did the chef change? Is it possible to go back to the old recipe? Old recipe: 9.5/10 New recipe: 7/10 Please go back!“
