“This is what we call “fine dining.” We did not reserve the main dining room, as one of our party did not care for prix fixe. We opted for the lounge as you can have from the menu or prix fixe. When you first arrive, you are greeted by a pleasant hat/coat check lady. We arrived early and said we would wait for the other couple and were invited to wait in the intimate cocktail area. The cocktails were superb and served with a house-made cocktail snack. When the guests of the party arrived, we were escorted to the lounge area. An intimate area with about six to eight tables. After being seated and greeted by the head server (maître d' or captain), who explained our options, we all opted for the menu. After looking at all the choices, we decided to split two appetizers. Even though the number of items on each choice was uneven, the server said, “Let me take care of it". And then beautifully presented plates arrived with equal portions. And it only got better from there. The entrées were each explained in detail, including their origins and how they were prepared. I could go on and on. The fish, beef, duck breast, and pork were everything we expected and more. We all commented, maybe the best we have had. The house made desserts were perfect. I had possibly the best cheese plate I have ever had. The entire staff of servers were professionals and enhanced the evening. The most disappointing part of the evening was when a guest entering the dining room (after removing his overcoat) came in dressed in Dockers and a short-sleeve polo. This is an insult to the owner, the chef, and the entire staff at this fine restaurant. But maybe he was an elite or a “special” person. We all said we would be back.“

“Stumbled upon this Thai restaurant, and was very pleased with the food and experience. The Khao soi chicken was cooked very tender and fell off the bone. Pad Kra Pow pork dish was also really satisfying. The food was spicy, but the flavour worked well to make you want more. Highly recommended!“

“Here's the review Spencer wrote for you: My family and I just visited to celebrate my grandsons birthday- we like to get a bunch of plates and share family style and this menu was perfect for that. You have to get mezze and extra bread (must try the kubane). We also ended up getting three orders of the shishbarak for the six of us, it is way too good! I got the salmon for my entree which was cooked to perfection and beautifully seasoned. Spencer our server recommended the silan and the cheesecake for dessert so we shared those and boy were they something special- I can’t pick a favorite! “157 Tavern has been a staple in the area for 10 years and is an excellent choice for parties or group gatherings. You can simply provide them with your budget, and they will curate the menu for you, which makes the planning process very convenient.

Regarding the food:

Grilled Spanish Octopus: Highly recommended. The potato pave is delicious, and the octopus is tender with a perfect charred exterior.

Short Rib with Bone Marrow: The meat is very tender and falls apart at the touch of a fork, though I wish the portion of bone marrow was a bit larger.

King Salmon: Quite tender.

Burrata Cheese: Standard/average.

Caramel Flan: Delicious and beautifully presented.

Overall, it is a great spot for a nice dinner.“

“I was very impressed, moonlighting in the bartender night life for the last 20 years. I normally don’t go out to bars. My sister and myself were down at Lenox hospital for our Dads surgery. One of the desk staff at Franklin Hotel recommended Penrose! The staff, manager and bartender were so friendly. I have to say I was very happy. My favorites were the rice noodle rolls wrapped with tofu, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, carrots and preserved radish, Thai beef stew and the Panang short ribs. The beef stew was SO tender and collagen rich, literally every bite was melt in your mouth. Short ribs, also as expected, tender and flavorful. The Thai ice cream was a perfect finish - sweet toppings, cold coconut ice cream, warm pandan sticky rice - all different flavors and textures but all work together in harmony.“

“This bar is SUCH a delight. Our server, Elise, absolutely tuned into our group’s vibe and made the whole night feel so special. This place really knows how to make you feel seen. Food was also delish (oysters & seafood spreads were soooooo good!), and drinks were solid and creative. But cannot overstate the vibe. A bar where you can hear your friends, have good drinks, and be incredibly charmed by the staff is not often found. Would recommend to a million friends!“

Sebastian Burger & Fries

As I was passing by, I spotted their sidewalk billboard, which mentioned Guy Fieri highly praising their burgers. I was instantly convinced right then and there to give this bar a try!

This burger was topped with American cheese and caramelized onions on a soft bun. The medium cooked patty is made with prime aged beef.

As a bonus, french fries are also included with the burger.

Guy Fieri was definitely right about this perfectly compacted sandwich that I cleared down to the last bite.

“This place has become a fixture in my life. I had my last beer here before my son was born. I've held receptions here for the passing of family members. They've always come through. Super friendly staff. The food is a cut above bar food (this isn't a white cloth place), and it's unique and excellent. They also keep a pretty exciting rotation of beers. Love this place!“
