“These are larger than normal sized slices! Don't let the first glance fool you. They're thin and crispy and another review said they're not as salty or greasy as other places and I 100% agree. Our chicken calzone was HUGE but perhaps John thought we didn't have enough food. The chicken wasn't flavorful but the marinara that came on the side was real nice. John and his daughter-in-law (?) were so attentive - extra napkins and forks for the kids, offered to rewrap our calzone to go, some little candies to go. As for ambience, you're not coming in here for that but with 2 kids, you don't need that. But if you're looking for the nostalgic pizzerias from back in the day, this is it. Just missing an arcade system. Also heads up, cash only.“

“Absolutely loved our experience here tonight! I am unsure of the hostesses name but she was a doll and clearly had everything running so smoothly. As walk-ins we were even able to pick where we wanted to sit. Juan was our waiter who was such a gem, so attentive but also did not rush us at all. We got the baked clams, veal Marsala and the gnocchi special which were excellent. The manager also came over to say hello which felt very personable. We can’t wait to come back!“

“A close walk from the Met. We went on a Friday night and asked for an outdoor table (our reservation did not indicate either inside or out). Service was wonderful. We started with the meatballs which were good, but it was only 4 small meatballs. I enjoyed the Rigatoni with Sausage and Mushrooms. The fettuccine with beef ragu was also good, but missing a little something. The cannolo for dessert was a highlight.“

“By far the best Italian in Astoria. Yes, it's very pricey (full on Manhattan prices) but it's a rare instance where you're paying for real quality.

Mushroom risotto with truffle was excellent, perfectly al dente, and not overpowering with the truffle. The ravioli were super delicate and definitely made fresh in house. Pricing at $32 and $38 is pretty nuts for a plate of pasta, but they were very good.

For appetizers, the calamari was clearly fresh, lightly breaded, and perfectly fried, and the meatballs were moist and tender.

Timing between the courses was great; enough time to digest and enjoy the meal with no rush.

Dessert - tiramisu and panna cotta - was fine but nothing special and overpriced at $14 a pop. I'd skip it next time.

All in all an excellent, albeit very expensive, meal and without a doubt the best Italian in Astoria.“

“Verana is hands down one of the best dining experiences in Bergen County. The food is consistently incredible, from the homemade pastas to the perfectly cooked seafood and steaks. You can really tell there’s attention to detail in every dish. The atmosphere feels upscale but still warm and comfortable, and the service was professional without being pretentious. “I took my family to la riserva last week. We had an amazing dinner. My girls loved the pasta fagioli!!! They also enjoyed their meals; pasta with marinara and the chicken parmigiana with green beans. My husband and I equally enjoyed our meals. The service was great.
