“Nice Matin is a bright and lively restaurant. The servers are friendly, helpful, and often check in with your table. Their food is very good and has some unique brunch options (grapefruit with granola topping, scrambled eggs with Marquez sausage, etc.) Yet they have the beloved choices of egg benedicts, sandwiches, and entrees such as salmon and steak even at brunch time. The prices are very good for Manhattan and every seat was filled during our Saturday brunch.“

“This was planned to be a landmark, special occasion meal. It's surpassed anything we expected. The atmosphere is calm without being cold and service allowed you to focus on the person you were dining with. We had the Chef's tasting menu. Every dish was beyond what was expected. Yes, on some items the dish may have a look small, but it was a perfect fit within the overall meal and menu. It was a satisfying meal that was ended with an amazing dessert. It is easy to see why the waiter said the Arctic birds nest played a big part in earning those Michelin stars. “

“We happened upon this delightful spot after touring the Intrepid. We were hungry for good food and were not disappointed. I had a Franziskaner draft and a cheeseburger, while cooked to well, when I asked for medium, it was well seasoned and had a good flavor on a nice hard roll. My wife had the grilled chicken wrap, I ate 1/2 of it and really liked it. It was a nice balance of pesto and mozzarella to chicken. The side salad wase nicely dressed. This was a seriously nice find, it was charming to walk into one of the oldest continually run bars in NYC and find great draft beer and food at an affordable for NYC price. The service was outstanding as well.“

“Overall excellent BUT we were a party of 5 and seated in the rear (an area also used for private parties). The noise level was extremely loud- basically caused by a party of 6 right next to us. We were unable to hear conversations at our own table unless the person right next to us or directly across was speaking to you. We were there for Easter brunch so restaurant was crowded. There should be some noise attenuation in place due to hard ceiling and hard floors—noise just bounces. Food good but not quite up to par; however, I attribute that to the holiday and a full restaurant—as every other time I have dined here it has been close to perfect. The servers, host/hostesses, and the bussing staff were WONDERFUL! All polite, friendly and engaging. Highly recommended Cafe d'Alsace“

BABS

BABS European •
72 MacDougal St, New York

“I truly, truly love Babs. I've been coming here for a few years specifically for the oysters with the champagne mignonette - it's phenomenal. The ambiance is sophisticated and intimate, great for a small group of friends or a date. It pains me to give them four stars but I have to because of the service - I swear the waitress looked right at my friend and I waiting for a table and hid in the back. There were plenty of tables, so the bartender asked us if we'd like to sit, and then went and asked her to seat us. I felt like everything we asked for bothered her and I couldn't say thank you enough. Maybe it was an off night for her I'm not sure but from other reviews seems to be a theme. Go for the food and the bar! The location is amazing and it's nice to sit outside in warm weather.“

We tried this restaurant a couple of times during the Covid -19 lock downs when the mayor and governor tried destroying the restaurants in N.Y.C but this restaurant was able to withstand the pressure and assaults when so many other restaurants caved and folded. Fairly priced for manhattan location, as price meets portions.Would definitely recommend and return.“

“We ordered three tapas plates without realizing they had a prix fixe group menu, which included all three of the tapas we originally ordered. I asked if we could get the group menu ( 5 tapas and two paellas) and just get two more of the tapas choices and continue from there. The server said they could do that. Instead they brought five more tapas , including once again the three tapas we originally ordered, and two new ones, then the two paellas. We were charged for the original three tapas and then the group menu as well. It was way too much food and too much money, and ruined my dining experience.“

“si and i started with a double shot of espresso with amaretto, while i had a cappuccino. we then exchanged about a dozen spoonfuls into one another’s cups (referred to as “making an abomination” repeatedly) and this created a delightful flavor balance of sweet kiki and roasty bouba. we ordered the “tuscany soup” and pesto penne. neither was stellar but once again the abomination proved greater than the sum of its parts. we found that dumping the soup onto the pasta provided a desperately needed wetness. our stomachs proved swift and we left in a glow. we did not respond to the man offering an invitation to the comedy club.“
