“We just moved into the area and ventured out on a walk with our kiddos to try some of the local shops and found Jake’s Bakes. Wow!! We loved everything about our first visit. Jake is so lovely and kind, and really hit it off with our kiddos. The lemonades were so refreshing and yummy. And the BAKED GOODS — don’t even get me started because they’re delicious — every single one that we tried! We have decided that we’re going to frequent Jake’s Bakes for a coffee and a baked good as a weekend treat whenever we can!”

“I need to recognize one of your servers for going above and beyond the call of duty. I took my 91 year old mother for lunch at Kelsey’s. Mom has mobility issues and is very unsteady on her feet. As we walked through the door, we were greeted by Sam. I asked Sam if she would mind getting my Mom to a table while I went out to park my van. Sam, to my surprise, took my mother’s hand and politely escorted her to a table.
In my humble opinion, Sam has a wonderful heart. Listening to her talk to the other patrons, you can tell she is honestly listening to them and she shows a genuine interest in people.
I have worked in customer service for 45 years, and, I can honestly say that I have only met a handful of servers who go the extra mile like Sam did. What a wonderful person!!”

“I visited this Tim Hortons location around 4:00 AM and was truly impressed by the service and preparation. The showcase was fully stocked with fresh donuts, Timbits, and breakfast items, which was remarkable for such an early hour.
There was only one staff member on duty, an Indian girl named Sandy (as I recall), who was efficiently managing all tasks — baking, serving food, and preparing drinks. Despite being alone, she remained professional, friendly, and extremely helpful, even assisting me in selecting the donuts.
I purchased a dozen donuts and some drinks, and everything was fresh and well-prepared. I had also visited two other Tim Hortons locations earlier, but neither was ready with donuts at that time.
Sandy’s dedication, efficiency, and positive attitude truly stood out. Staff members like her deserve recognition for their exceptional service and commitment. #She made my day for Friday morning...”

“The funny thing is that I have lived in Barrie for seven years but have never gone to the Bull and Barrel Pub until today. It is an old fashioned British pub with regal decor that makes people feel comfortable as soon as they step in. I decided to get their meatball soup with their fish and chips. The soup was certainly needed as we had our first snow fall of the year. It had enough meat in it and the meatballs were bite size with just enough spice in the soup. On to the main, the fish was absolutely perfect flaky and full of flavour with just enough tartar sauce and malt vinegar (the proper way to add to bring out the flavor of the fish.the chips were prepared well a bit of crunch on the outside but fluffyon the outside. The price was very reasonable. I did want to mention the service. the young lady was polite, professional and very efficient. While it was not busy , service was very prompt. I forgot to get the sticky toffee pudding though. I will definitely be back . I hear they have an old fashioned rast beef dinner on Sunday i may have to check that out .”

The onion rings were in fry basons (or whatever they are called) and not in paper containers. Obviously , they were environmentally conscious, too. Great experience!”

We ordered fish tacos and enmoladas for our main course which were absolutely delicious and came out really quick even with the 3 large parties they had. “I couldn't be more pleased. I spent time in the Yucatan (if you go, eat the carnitas there, preferably at a mom and pop shop. Cooked underground, wrapped in banana leaves, it. is. to. die. for). I used to live in San Diego. We would often hop across the border, sometimes to Tijuana and often to Ensenada, just to eat at the food carts outside. Any where the locals were, you could count on the food. It's similar here, except the Pacific Ocean is replaced with Lake Simcoe and I was eating inside the restaurant. Everything about it was excellent, brom the location to the view to the decor, the welcoming service and the food... omygawd, the food. I had a ceviche tostada that was to die for, it was so fresh and tasty. I had two carnitas tacos and an enchiladas enmolada plate. I brought most of the enchilada plate home and should have gotten more to bring home. The wonderful cook came out to ask me how I liked it after I raved to the server how yummy the ceviche was. I thanked her for the most excellent food and left a big tip. I live three hours away from Barrie, but I'll be back for sure!”

The sashimi was huge and well cut, just absolutely tasty. The galbi was perfect, clearly smoked and tasted better than half the places I’ve had it in Seoul. Their specialty rolls are massive and so delicious.
Perfect place to go if you’re craving Japanese or Korean. I crave both very often, so I’ll easily be back.”

“went to Sakana house location at Big Bay Point with a group of 8 yesterday (Feb3), about 40 minutes into receiving our food, different individuals from our table start finding hair in the food while grabbing it straight from each platter. the first time a hair is found we mention it to the staff and just put aside the food that has a 10" hair in it. then it continues, long hairs, short hairs, black hair, brown hair, etc. each time we show the staff they take it away. after 5 times in a row we stop eating and decide we want to go. we ask to speak to the manager. no manager comes to us. a staff by the name of "Na Na" decides to say she was sorry, but everyone wears hair nets and it's busy...... we walk to the area where staff makes and preps food, not one person is wearing hair nets...... I again ask for a manager to which no one never comes. she then says she'd give us a discount on each bill for the trouble. I paying for 3, with a bill of $134 got a $10 discount for hairy food and we went elsewhere because we were still hungry at we were not there for long..... the table behind us found hair in their food as well, in their first plate. they left right away..... So If you want hairy sushi at full price, go here. I will be calling Food Safety and complaining about this location as well. 0/5 rating!!”

“Served poolside at Blue Horizons Garden Resort, the succinct menu has a selection of proteins with Caribbean flavors – fish, chicken, pork, steak, lobster and shrimp. Starters included shrimp and chicken choices as well as a 3 kinds of soups - pumpkin ginger, local greens and okra. We started with the shrimp on sugar cane skewers and the soup made from local greens. Both were tasty. The shrimp was fresh and cooked to order, served with a peanut sauce. The dark rich soup was flavorful with just enough heat as too not overpower the vegetable flavors. For mains we each ordered a catch of the day. The choices were tuna, dorade or swordfish. We tried the tuna and dorade. The fish was fresh and well cooked, plated on a breadfruit fritter and served with a passion fruit sauce and a side of vegetables including squash and green beans. The vegetables, however, were soft and overdone for my tastes. Service was friendly and efficient, though the food out of the kitchen was on the slow side even though just two other tables were occupied.”

“I frequent the Queens on the regular for the live Band circuit that is there both Friday and Saturday nights starting usually at 5:30.. it’s recommended to get a reservation if you expect a table weeks in advance. The staff are great and a huge shout out to Amanda and Clair especially! Let’s talk food! They have a great menu and the food has never been disappointing instead delicious and chef worthy. There is a short break at the end of the band but then a DJ comes on both nights for dancing. For the sports people there are multiple TV’s to watch everywhere! I totally spend my money here and enjoy its ambiance! 5 stars!”

“The funny thing is that I have lived in Barrie for seven years but have never gone to the Bull and Barrel Pub until today. It is an old fashioned British pub with regal decor that makes people feel comfortable as soon as they step in. I decided to get their meatball soup with their fish and chips. The soup was certainly needed as we had our first snow fall of the year. It had enough meat in it and the meatballs were bite size with just enough spice in the soup. On to the main, the fish was absolutely perfect flaky and full of flavour with just enough tartar sauce and malt vinegar (the proper way to add to bring out the flavor of the fish.the chips were prepared well a bit of crunch on the outside but fluffyon the outside. The price was very reasonable. I did want to mention the service. the young lady was polite, professional and very efficient. While it was not busy , service was very prompt. I forgot to get the sticky toffee pudding though. I will definitely be back . I hear they have an old fashioned rast beef dinner on Sunday i may have to check that out .”
