The balance of flavors was spot on—each spoonful was a comforting, savory mix of the ocean’s finest, warming us right up. Next was the Octopus Quinoa Salad, which was a pleasant surprise. The octopus was tender and juicy, paired wonderfully with the light, nutty texture of the quinoa. The fresh herbs and dressing gave it a refreshing, zesty kick that brightened up the dish. For the mains, the Grilled Iberico Pork Steak was simply divine. It was cooked to perfection with a slight char on the outside and tender, succulent meat inside. The cabbage and rice complemented the pork beautifully, adding a satisfying crunch and subtle sweetness. The Grass Fed Prime Ribeye Steak was another highlight—juicy, rich, and flavorful with just the right amount of fat marbling. “Came here on my first day after moving in to the neighbourhood and who I presume is the owner was so sweet and kind! He gave me directions for things nearby and talked to me during my meal, and his kid looked like she was having a lot of fun as well. I ordered the Aloo Paratha and the plate was steaming hot when it came out and was the size of my chest, and it was 7 bucks! I gave a huge tip and I plan to return many times in the future!“

“My girlfriend had the Deluxe Mushroom Banh mi and I had 2 baos, the BB steak and the K Pork, with the side of veggie dumplings it was very good!! Also the Lychee Tea very good, not too sweet. “Absolutely delicious asian food. Used to come here 2-3 times a week when I studied at TRSM. The lady working there was always so friendly and would greet me every time and asked how my studies were going.

The only downside is that this food court is a bit sketchy (It’s downtown, so it’s to be expected) but the security guards seem well equipped to deal with any problems.

“To-Ne Sushi in Toronto is genuinely amazing. This little spot completely changed how I think about sushi in the city. The fish is unreal — buttery toro that melts, sweet scallop that tastes straight from the ocean, and salmon that has zero of that “fishy” aftertaste you get at mediocre places. The rice is warm, perfectly seasoned, and packed with the kind of care you only see when a chef actually respects the craft.

Their aburi is a standout. Seared salmon belly with a light miso glaze hits that perfect mix of smoky, crispy, and rich without being heavy. Hand rolls come out with nori that’s still warm and crisp, not soggy. If you sit at the bar, do the omakase. The chef picks each piece, explains what you’re eating, and paces everything so every bite feels intentional.

The vibe is intimate and low-key — no loud music, no gimmicks. Just good people making incredible sushi. Service is sharp but friendly. You’re never rushed, never waiting too long, and they actually seem happy you’re there.

The General Tao’s Chicken Pizza is absolutely incredible. It’s such a unique creation, but somehow every flavour works perfectly together. Toronto is truly blessed to have the owner and his wife sharing their craft with the community. “Would definitely go again, ingredients were fresh and well portioned between all the toppings. The size was perfect for lunch and at a great value. There weren’t any “filler” toppings, and the flavors was great. ( I asked for a recommendation and got the “it’s lit” bowl. Just spicy enough for me!) Staff was friendly and efficient. Quite happy with my first visit and looking forward to trying all types of combinations in the future.“

“Overall, R&D is an impressive Chinese fusion restaurant that elevates traditional flavours without straying too far from the heritage and origins of the dishes as other Chinese fusion restaurants have.

Crispy Squid: My favourite dish from the meal by far and a very perfect example of Chinese fusion that doesn’t overdo the “fusion” part. The spice and flavour of the typhoon shelter crumbs were true to the original version of the dish with crab. Tasting those flavours with the texture and taste of squid instead of crab were such a great mix of familiarity and novelty. Bonus points from someone who hated peeling shells of crab!

Best Duck in the City: The duck has been regarded as the “must try” dish of R&D and needs to be reserved 24 hours in advance. The flavours of the duck felt very familiar but the skin of the duck was not crispy at all (and it was sliced in a way that was not able to capture the flavours of the skin).

Pork & Crab Siu Mai: Similar to the duck, this dish contained familiar flavours of a traditional siu mai with crab meat (kind of like a pork and crab meatball) and a very delicate layer of skin. The siu mai was topped with a curry sauce which was surprisingly delicious.

R&D Fried Rice: Not much to comment on here. Just a very solid fried rice dish.“

We got a picnic table right at the front of the restaurant and we ordered everything to share amongst the five of us.

The shrimp chips were really spicy and this is coming from an East Indian girl.

The ribs are cooked to a perfect tea and so were the chicken balls. I didn’t enjoy the spam or bologna that was on top of the rice, but the rice itself is really good..

The dumplings, however, were my absolute favourite! Definitely a spot I’d return to especially with a group.“

“I was in Mississauga for training and we drove out of our way to visit this resturant based solely on its reviews. I had read they had authentic Thai food and the chef was renown for it. I was not disappointed. We started our meal with fresh vegetables spring rolls, mango salad, and wonton soup. It was incredible and was prepared quickly. Our meal was Chicken Pad Tai and Seaford fried rice. Large portions and the food was so well seasoned and elegantly plated. The service was great. We had a wonderful visit that prompted this review. If you're in the area I'd highly recommend a visit.“
