I ordered Ddeokguk (Rice Cake Soup) yesterday, and although it wasn’t my first time I ordered it from this place, I always get genuinely surprised by how it’s full of not only rice cakes but nutritious add-ons like eggs, seaweed, and veggies. I would’ve liked it more if they added bone broth, but that’s a minor thing.

I also like that they have a “Soup Only” option for like 2 bucks cheaper. It allows me to not spend more than I need to on something I already have at home.

I would definitely visit here if it was right across my home, but unfortunately 7 out of 10 times when I order from here I’m sick, so I don’t have energy to go😭 I’m surprised that the in-person prices are even lower than UberEats. The pricing on UberEats is already generous!!!“

“It may be one of the hottest days of the year but, we came in craving some comfort food and this perfectly hit that itch. The chicken was extremely juicey, the skin crisp, meat tender and quite flavorful, also I was impressed by the size of each peice and how they butchered it. We were given a small platter of buttered corn on the house and it was a nice starter to preset the meal. The music hits the vibe of a relaxing casual eatery and the combos are worth the money. Next time I would order the combo with a larger group to finish it we went for combo 2 and got the galbi and soy garlic chicken. The galbi was my favorite my partner preferred the soy garlic, the tteokbokki was a little smokey, little spicey, and was loaded with meat it was worth it. I will come back and this will be a another great night spot after some drinks and karaoke.“

“Nak Won has been a longstanding restaurant in the Richmond Hill area, conveniently located near Hillcrest Mall. I've been coming here more frequently lately because it's quickly become one of my go-to spots. Over the past few months, I've visited at least five times.

The service has consistently been friendly and efficient. The staff are also incredibly thoughtful (they've even offered to take family photos for us after noticing we were trying to squeeze everyone into a selfie). I also appreciate their online ordering system, which makes dining much more convenient. You can easily request small things like napkins or water/tea without having to flag someone down.

Every dish I've tried so far has been delicious, and I'd happily order any of them again. The portions are also quite generous, making most dishes perfect for sharing.

* Gamjatang Ramyun
* RC8 Cheese Katsu Dolsot
* KD6 HaeMul Pajeon (Seafood Pancake)

“While we were in the area having dinner, we decided to pick up something for lunch the following day and ended up deciding on gimbap. After trying the food, we instantly had regrets that we didn't come here for dinner the night before! Really fresh and well made, at a price point that's very reasonable for the portion sizing. “That fried chicken sandwich is currently sitting as my #1 in Toronto, and I've eaten a lot. The fillings, the sauce, the bread, all so good. If you're in the area and you need a lunch, call ahead for a sandwich, will not regret. It is also massive! Their fried chicken is really crispy. It's on my top 5 list for crispiest chicken in the city. Chicken is fresh, oil is fresh. I like that they don't put the sauce on your chicken, that way it won't get soggy on your way home and when you reheat, the sauce won't burn. Their spicy yangnyeom was good, but not the best in town. Their soy garlic was only ok, a bit too runny. Their radishes were also only ok. Their kimchi fries were good, but Banh Mi Boys ironically does that better. But without a doubt, I'm going back for that fried chicken sandwich.

“The first time I tried this authentic Korean restaurant in GTA, and it was great. The mapo style beef was especially good, really spicy but absolutely delicious. The spicy fried chicken is a must order dish. I also loved their kimchi so much. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit.“

“Cute Korean restaurant about 3-5 min walk from Finch Subway station. Tip: exit through the passenger pickup area of Finch station if you're walking, that's the closest exit to the restaurant. I came here specifically to try their Ganjang Gejang (raw blue crab marinated in soy sauce), it seems that they might be the only restaurant that serves this dish in Toronto, that I could find and know of. There is a very slight fishy smell when I sniffed it, which is expected since it's raw crab, but when I was eating it, I didn't find it fishy at all, it was really delicious. The crab roe was soft and rich, the meat was smooth and fresh, everything went really well with the rice. I can see why this dish is called a rice thief now. I was really tempted to order another bowl of rice but on account of my diet I stopped myself. I would definitely try this dish again. I also ordered the kimchi stew and my friend got a spicy beef soup. Although it was not as outstanding as the Ganjang Gejang, Both were delicious and portions were good. The side dishes were good as well. Not sure if there's free refills or not since we didn't ask for any. The service was good, it's a smaller shop, seems like it's family owned. People were doing multi jobs so if you wanted more tea or something you have to ask them, they do really try to check up you though and would walk around once in awhile to refill your tea and see how you're doing. Overall a good dining experience, I would come back to try their raw crab. However if I was just going out for Korean food then I may not specifically go out of my way to come here since although the other dishes were good, it's not super outstanding. Aside from indoor dining they also have outdoor dining, there's a big white tent outside, they provides pretty good shelter, there's also hanging lights out there, really cute set up. We dined inside though since it was windy.“

the problem is the wait - don't expect to get a spot without having to be waitlisted. Typically takes 30~40 minutes during lunch time to get a table for 2. Same for table for 1.

The banchan side dishes are to die for. When a restaurant's side dishes are good, you know you're in a for a treat. It means they pay attention to detail, and put a lot of care on each item on and off the menu. I particularly loved the side dish pickled cucumber. It's so refreshing, with a hint of yuzu, not too sour, not too sweet.

For my main, I ordered their lunch special combo. There's many combos to choose from, super good deal for the price ($20~25).

Seafood pancake was great. Very decent amount of seafood included in the pancake mix, not too oily (I personally don't like it when seafood pancakes are soaked in oil and doesn't hold its shape when you cut it into smaller pieces).

Staff was very fast and friendly. Very good with communication, got a reminder text when it's almost my turn for the table on the waitlist, which I thought was a really nice touch, not all restaurants tell you in advance. There are always waiters walking back and forth between tables, making sure you have everything you need. Overall, my go to place when I'm in town, a spot that is consistent in their quality and super fair in their pricing.“

“This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem! We came across it randomly. The food was delicious and the hostess was very warm and friendly. There were a lot of options on the menu for such a small place. There are only a few tables but they kindly arranged a table for our group of 9. We will definitely return!“

“We enjoyed our meal at Ehwa! My friends and I used to go to the downtown location back in our undergrad days, so having a location close to home is pretty cool.

We ordered the Ssagaji Dak (four flavour chicken platter) and the Rosé tteokbokki. The platter had a nice variety of flavours and the tteokbokki was delicious. The platter is big enough that I think it would feed most couples on its own but I eat a lot 😂. We had some leftovers to take home though!

Vibes here are really nice, and the staff working here were all very friendly. The two girls working here were very attentive and nice. One thing that I thought was nice is their work ethic really seemed great. We came early around 5:30pm for old people dinner time so the restaurant was pretty quiet, but the staff members were working hard the whole time cleaning, setting tables up, preparing the bar, etc.

“This is a restaurant I make a point to visit every time I’m in North York. Today, we ordered the spicy fried pollock, sweet and sour pork, and braised monkfish—and as expected, it didn’t disappoint.

We didn’t get it this time, but we usually also order the clam kalguksu when we’re here. That said, today’s dishes were more than enough on their own. We love Chowon so much ❤️“

It was my first time and we got the half & half with green onion + supreme flavour. Both the flavours were really tasty. The chicken felt fresh and crispy. It was way less greasy than I thought it would be too. I also thought their highball was super tasty as well. We also got the chicken dumplings and they gave us cheeseballs to try! The cheeseball was so chewy in texture which I loved a LOT (like a mix of mochi and cheese in the middle).

“I received stone rice cake (3 types) from a friend today. I found out why I asked what time the pickup would be when I placed my order. The rice cake was warm and delicious, as if it had been made and delivered on time. They beautifully engraved the words 'First Birthday' on the rice cake cake for free, and there were plenty of songpyeon and sorghum red bean rice cakes. “We ordered the port cutlet rose tteokbokki and 2 kimbaps (tuna and beef) for two people. I was afraid it wouldn't be enough food because it was hard to tell the serving sizes from the photos and I wasn't sure if each dish was meant for one person or to be shared. It ended up being more than enough food, especially as the kimbap were quite large. My favourite part was the pork katsu. Even though we picked up our order a bit late, and then had to walk 5 min back, it was still sooo crispy and crunchy. Even when I was eating the last piece, it still had a bit of crunch. The tteokbokki was a bit too spicy for me but my bf enjoyed it. I like the tuna kimbap but I found the beef one too peppery; I was expecting it to be more like bulgogi. Overall very satisfied and definitely good value.“
