“Pretty solid American Chinese. The lunch specials are a great deal -- pretty big portions that aren't padded by rice, as the entree items dominate the container. Minor quibble that the General Tso's sauce was lacking in spice, but it still had a good balance of sweet and savory flavor.“

Food arrives quickly and never disappoints. I’ve eaten here several times and have yet to have a bad experience; everything has been fresh, flavorful, and satisfying each visit.

The restaurant also has an additional seating area, making it a good option for larger groups or busier times without feeling cramped.

Location-wise, it’s in a great spot right off Hawthorne with plenty of foot traffic. On a few visits, I’ve spent a couple of hours catching up with a friend and watching a steady stream of customers coming and going, proof that this place stays popular, especially during peak hours.

“I enjoyed my experience at Xin Ding. The person who entertained us, Claire, showed me what to do (and what to avoid doing) when it comes to soup dumplings. I can't thank her enough, because it would have been a 'whole thing' if I would have burned myself at the table.
Interesting cocktails, sake and draft beers live here- TV's too. Visited on Super Bowl Sunday and sat comfortably watching the game.
I would definitely let someone bring me here to eat again.
Also, Claire told us about which sakes were more dry and which were on the sweet side, and so many other things because I asked beyond too many questions. She was patient. I'm glad she knows her stuff, I was confident in my order.

“Decent food. I felt like I had to add soy sauce to the garlic fried rice in order to give it flavor. It was heavy with garlic but had little flavor to it. The chicken had a great taste. We got the sesame chicken and the flavor was great. But the texture was hard for me at times. The sauce was very sludge/slime textured, and the chicken had a fatty texture to it at times. Seemed like it could have been fried longer. But the service was good, friendly and quick. The atmosphere was alright, there wasn't much to the place. Didn't see much in the way of decor. But overall id give the restaurant about a 3.8 out of 5.“

“got there around 1pm on a Sunday, it took about 10 minutes for us to get a table- pretty cozy restaurant and fairly busy. Got our dishes within 5-10 minutes of ordering. The only downside is our A1 dish did not come with bokchoy and it took a minute for us to flag down a lady and took another 5 minutes for them to bring out some chopped bokchoy in a small bowl. The fish also wasn’t really minced but more like big chunks of cod…but we did enjoy the liver dishes, the sauce that came with 19 was very good and paired well with the dish. The youtiaos were also pretty good and tasted freshly made. As for the fresh soy milk, I perferred the cold over the hot and it tasted good but the soy flavor wasnt as strong as other places that I tried before. If I were to go back I’d for sure would like to try more of their liver dishes.“

“Love this spot! Was sad when the Ritz took over their 10th and Alder cart location and was so excited to see them now at pioneer courthouse square. The classic with duck is one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten and reasonably priced. The service is always stellar too.“

“It may be tiny, it may not look like expected inside or out, but this spot is serving straight fire. The menu is limited, but everything they prepare is done at an excellent level. The staff are sweet and fast, happy to help if the kiosk ordering stations are not working properly. Small parking lot out back provides off-street parking for free, and a ramp from there provides ADA access. The prices are entirely reasonable and the portions are substantial. Can't recommend the spot enough, and they have multiple locations in the area. Genuinely, everything smelled, looked, and tasted so good that I forgot to photograph anything. If they sell their peanut butter garlic sauce separate, I would order an entire jar.“

“This spot is FIRE! 🔥 We ordered the orange chicken and general tso and they were so good!! Saucy, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside! So much food, couldn’t finish mine so now I have dinner 🩷 The crab puffs and spring rolls were hot and crunchy and the fillings were yummy!! “Best chow fun in town. Can't get fresher noodles anywhere because they supply most of the Chinese restaurants and stores in town with their noodles. Their fried rice is really good, too. They also make their own tofu, both fresh and fried. Their rice noodle rolls are good, too. just have to get their early in the day because they sell out fast. The owners are some of the nicest people and work extremely hard. Love giving them my business.“

“First visit today. Throwback pricing, truly. I don't know how it works but they are charging what I would have expected to pay ten years ago. It was a great value. No, it isn't pretty outside. That does not matter. I can't believe somebody left a bad review based on that, while never having eaten here. It was plenty comfortable and the service was fast and friendly enough. “After visiting several bars and restaurants across the country and Portland (specifically) it’s impressive to see a spot that cares deeply about the atmosphere, service and menu.

I’ve been here twice and each time have been very impressed by how hospitable the bartenders are.

Josh is a standout and clearly cares about his team and customers.

I appreciate that a lot. Service was quick and efficient. Prices not bad. Food was ok, overall. My mom said her noodles had no flavor or spice at all and she didn’t even want to eat it. “This is one of my favorite places in Portland. Here is the review after over 2 years of dining here. They offer authentic Chinese Street BBQ which I couldn’t find back then. I like to order extra spicy, but I don't recommend it if you don't have a very high tolerance for spice. My must-order items are skewers (beef, pork belly, squid, chicken gizzard, chives, potato) and enoki beef aluminum box with rice vermicelli. Their oyster is pretty good too.

The service becomes more contactless as they develop but the tip suggestion starts from 18% doesn't make sense since there is very minimal service. Also you can't expect friendly service from a Chinese restaurant 😁

“This place came up on my fyp a couple weeks ago and I am so glad I finally got to eat here! The food is SO good!

First of all, just look at how fat those egg rolls are. I was amazed by the sheer size of them, and they were absolutely delicious. The orange chicken was fantastic too. I can't wait to order again and try something else!

Aside from the amazing food, I think my favorite thing is that they offer free delivery if you live within 2 miles of the restaurant. I cannot tell you how happy it made me to get delivery on my day off without having to drop $40 due to third party fees. And my tip actually went to my driver!

They were fast too. I ordered on a Saturday evening like right at the start of dinner time, and the driver was outside with hot, fresh food barely 30 minutes later.

“We’ve been eating at this restaurant since our kids were little so well over 40 years and today I came by to enjoy a plate of their chicken handmade noodles, which was just outstanding and I asked for a small dish of sweet-and-sour sauce and they bring it and it just adds everything and honestly everybody should come here to this classic Chinese restaurant for these delicious foods. And very pleasant staff and a beautiful clean environment and affordable one dish, which was about $15 easily served two people and I’m stuffed. I think it’s very important to support independent restaurants in Portland and not just do chain restaurants of course because these independent guys need our participation and frequenting to make their lives continue and this way.“

“Interesting place . Definitely the best Sichuan since lucky strike iykyk, even tho the dan dan noodles are spaghetti, the dry sauce is so good I can’t complain and is the best I’ve had . . Service is weird . The woman seemed angry but that little part of town can have some gnarly people which I’m sure they deal with . That being said, you really taste the flavor separately which I think is hard to do with this food . If the woman punched me in the face I still might give it 5 stars . “They do their best there I mean sometimes they mess up on orders but when they do mess up on us they're always willing to remake your order so don't get mad at him just talked to them and they'll make amends they're really good people and if you get mad you're the one that's rude you know and just remember that when you're there that people mess up on order sometimes. And most restaurants will fix it even if it's the next day. And if you're groggy. The kitchen even if it's closed if you're still in there and they're still open slightly they'll reopen the kitchen just for you and cook your meal. If they close and you order at the end of the night and you get the wrong order you know call him in the morning. Hey you guys got my order wrong last night I called you guys about it I was in a bad mood. Just tell him you were in a bad mood if you could say something bad and you're a very hungry and you had a very long day and you know and you were stressed out when you came in there from your day and they'll forgive you China knows what it's like to be stressed out..“

“The food was hot, flavorful and with good texture and sauces, now admittedly I'm a sushi guy so that's what I got for, however; even if I didn't live right around the corner I would *highly* recommend stopping in for their tempura sushi. We had wontons, shoa mai, broccoli, green beans, hot and sour soup, and a few different soup dumplings. Everything was made to order, came out periodically so we never had too many ch on the table at one time, and everything was the perfect temperature to eat right away. Great flavor, nice presentation even only coming out in the steamer basket. Service was spot on, never needing to ask for refills or to remove empty dishes and the price was perfect for a group lunch, coming in right around $25-$30 per person. It is located in the basement of the pioneer mall, is clean, and the atmosphere was perfect for an easy lunch conversation.“

“My wife and I order Ying Bun several times a month. We just love it everything is fresh and taste like authentic Chinese food. We have a standing order, that we order every time.
We start with:
1) two large wonton soups that has lots of big large beautiful wontons with fresh snow peas, carrots, celery, sliced chicken, barbecue pork and large shrimp too!
2) Number 5 Dinner that comes with Fried Shrimp, Pork fried rice, Sweet and Sour chicken, Subgum chicken chow mein
3) large order of crab puffs
4) large order of fried shrimp
This is our order, we love this meal. We get at least 3 meals out of our order. Always hot and fresh. We don't even mind the 20-minute wait time to make it. Just awesome to have something wonderful local because we like to go home put our pajamas on watch TV and eat all this food.“

“What a wonderful surprise! This restaurant was recommended by a family member, and we ended up making a reservation for our group of 12 for a birthday dinner. The service was outstanding from the first phone call all the way through to our server wrapping up our leftovers for us. “Food tasted very fresh and the flavors were wonderful. They have a dispenser on the tables with mixed spices (not spicy), and one with spicy contents. I used the non-spicy powder on my Chow Mein and I was loving the flavor combinations. They also used this powder on our king oyster mushroom BBQ skewers. I think what stood out most to me was the menu variety. I admittedly couldn’t order most items because of dietary restrictions and the large amount of spicy foods, but I still love to see so many uncommon options.“

“Been coming here for years. Some of the best old-school Chinese takeout in the city, huge portions and delicious food for a cheap price, feels like being back in the 2000's.

ONE thing I will say, is I would get dine in or take out. I have never in the probably hundreds of times I've been here had a bad experience with their dine in or take out, but every time I've gotten delivery it has been really quite bad. It's bizarre honestly, it straight up tastes like it's from a different restaurant, I have no idea why their delivery is such garbage compared to their really consistent takeout and dine-in, but it genuinely is just lower quality in every way.

That one weird idiosyncrasy aside, it is my favorite Chinese takeout in Portland.“
