“Perfection in the mind's eye in every regard.
Flavor, freshness, execution of literally every single detail (even ones you don't think about until you're made to notice), and the fact it's all accessibly priced kinda made me cry when i tried food from here the other day.
For lack of a quicker comparison, this is like Elden Ring coming out after years of being told the best you can get is sysco-sourced AAA reboots of the same "deliverable" concepts.
I want to experience this place's food for the rest of my life.
I just woke up, but this was very much in my dreams last night after yesterday's dinner, so I was compelled to just get something out. I'll come back some other time to detail the experience.“

“This was some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. We sat at the bar and got to watch the chef make each piece, which he then described to us at each step through the tasting menu. We went early and it was a very quiet setting. We’ll definitely go back for another special occasion!“

“I have Koya on my list for a while and finally dined there. It was such a great experience! We were able to sit right away at the sushi bar. The miso soup to start is very refreshing. Toro Party and Nigiri are so fresh. I love the thick cut they do on the sashimi. I Would definitely recommend and come back.“

“Some of the best sushi in Portland for decades, going back to when it was Sushi Takahashi 2 (at a different location). Highly recommended. Great options for vegetarian sushi as well!

“I happened to end up here for lunch when I was having a particularly bad day. Thanks to the super sweet gal behind the counter and delicious meal, this place really cheered me up! I love the wide array of options and all the fish and veggies I got tasted so good and fresh. The complimentary miso soup was much appreciated as well! The only thing I think could be better is the rice - the white rice I got was pretty dry. A well seasoned sticky sushi rice would make this already great meal perfect.
Editing to add that I came here a second time and the rice was wonderful :)“

“Lovely little restaurant. Authentic Japanese serving very good home cooked fare. Sashimi is fresh and flavourful. Miso soup hot and tasty. Salted broiled mackerel fillet was cooked to perfection, with a crispy skin. I’d highly recommend this place.“

“Delicious, fresh sushi!! If I’m ever in the area again I will go back!! Atmosphere feels very authentic to the culture! Fabulous service! Easy-to-order form to get what you want. It is quick. Staff is kind and attentive. The waitress was making sure everyone was comfortable and had what they needed.
I ordered the California roll, crunch munch and the lion king! All were fantastic with fabulous flavor!
Kid-friendliness: I didn’t have children in my party but a party near me hand two children and the staff treated them well while they were trying different foods and flavors.“

“I would love to give this place five stars. They're are often not open during their scheduled business hours. I've been here multiple times in the last few weeks at 12:00, which is when they say they open yet they are closed. I'm sitting here right now at 12:15 and their food truck is closed.“

“Hands down the best sushi I have ever had, and the friendliest service to be found in Portland. We've been several times, and it's never less than a perfect experience. This is our go-to place for sushi. You really can't beat it. The unagi, sweet shrimp, salmon belly, and creamy scallops are my favorites, and they serve other kinds of entrées as well. The mochi is delicious, too, if you somehow save enough room for it. 10/10, I'm a loyal customer for life.“

“I was craving some sushi and bomba and thankfully this is right across the street from my place. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. The mango boba I got was so good! It is sometimes hard to find good, fresh boba. The real star of the show was the spam masubi. The spam was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The staff was very friendly, we will definitely be back!“

“I tried SushiLove for the first time today (Oregon City location) and I am hooked! The service and food were amazing. I couldn't decide what I wanted to try first, so I ordered a half order of the Glazed and Confused, half order of the Mother of Dragons and an order of the Starry Inari. SO SO good! My new go-to place. As someone with Celiac, I love that I can have this Sushi without any worries! Even the little soy sauce packet was gluten free. ❤“

“I ordered some sushi for delivery this evening through DoorDash. The miso soup that I ordered has a tight lid but has two holes at the top lid and is not waterproof. It is made of some type of cardboard that is not immune to getting soaked through. The restaurant does not add any additional ceiling to prevent leaking if the soup were to not remain upright. Because of this and stacking items in my order, of course the miso soup did go sideways and because it is in a sealed bag, they deliver driver has no idea that this is happening. The cardboard package that the sushi comes in is also not waterproof so due to the miso soup pooling in the plastic bag my sushi was sitting in miso soup and soaking through and getting wet with soup. The sushi itself was tasty. I did enjoy the rock ‘n’ roll roll. I was disappointed by the salmon belly because all I could taste was green onion. For some reason, there’s a garnish of red onion on the salmon belly Nigiri and you could taste nothing else. The onion is overpowering. Fish is a subtle flavor. I’m confused why there would be onion on top order was ready promptly. I ordered via the restaurants preferred website which charges a seven dollar delivery fee, but DoorDash also adds money to each menu item making them cost more so I’m hoping ordering through the other website ultimately gets the restaurant more money, but then DoorDash did deliver it so I’m not sure how that works.
I’ve had this spot added to my favorites list for a long time, but haven’t ordered from here in probably a couple years. Maybe it’s just better to eat in person but quality overall good for the price.“
