“I’m obsessed! Found this bakery on too good to go & took a ride over (from jersey) I came home with 4 different flavors of the banana pudding & my 16 year old and I tried each one. I can’t even pick a favorite because they are all so good. The Magic flavor name makes complete sense when you take a bite because different flavors seem to magically appear in your mouth (peanut butter being the last to hit…) hard to explain but if you taste it, it will make sense! I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Driving in Philly stresses me out but I’ve never wanted to drive back over there so bad! For more pudding! I will be recommending this bake shop to everyone! The guy behind the counter was super nice & welcoming and helped me pick out some favorites. It’s a nice Friendly shop with amazing puddings & I will definitely be back!“

“Night Kitchen Bakery & Cafe made our wedding cake last year, and we couldn’t have been happier with the entire experience! They were so easy to work with and offered an amazing variety of flavors and options to choose from. We ended up going with a yellow cake with lemon curd and raspberry jam filling, and it was absolutely delicious — our guests loved it!
They also did a wonderful job bringing our vision to life. I kept it simple but shared a few inspiration photos, and they perfectly recreated the look I wanted. We had around 170 guests so we decided on a 5 tier cake!
The bakery itself is adorable, with a cozy cafe inside that serves light desserts/foods and drinks. We’d highly recommend The Night Kitchen Bakery to anyone looking for something special!“

“I had the Dubai chocolate latte with 3 pumps instead of 4 and it was perfect. I will say it needed more of the pistachios flavor. Chocolate was overpowering. Cinnamon roll was good. Strawberry cream cheese bagel my niece enjoyed as well as the hot chocolate. She’s 4“

“We worked with Joe to put together a tea reception after our wedding ceremony, and we couldn't have been happier! The pastries themselves were so delicious and very pretty (my personal favourites were the mini-cupcakes). And, Joe was a pleasure to work with, very communicative and upfront. We had to switch things up last minute from having the food out on display to having it packaged and handed out, and Joe and his team did a fantastic job pivoting, even coming up with a cute little QR code sticker with the menu for each box. We'll definitely be going back again.“

“Such a great shoppe and experience! When you step inside the aroma is delightful, and the ambiance is upbeat and bright incorporating both modern and cozy. The pastries, breads, cookies are top-notch and totally enticing. The Mocha Latte I ordered was delicious. This is a very busy place, on weekends especially, so plan ahead and don't go hangry. But well worth the wait. Staff are pleasant, hard-working, and professional. My new favorite place in South Philly! Loved it 😍“

“Best filled croissant I've ever had and the drip coffee was perfect.
Update: I can't stop thinking about that hazelnut croissant. If I take a trip back to Philly it will be just for this croissant. For the love of pastry, if you have not been here you must go.“

“I just had to leave a review to tell everyone how absolutely delicious your cupcakes are!!! Our family brought a variety for Easter dessert and they were the best cupcakes I have had in a very long time! Even better…they are PEANUT FREE!!!! This was the first time my son, 18 years old, had a cupcake from an actual bakery! That means the world to this mom!! I think he ate at least three!! Thank you so very much for your dedication to not only making amazing and delicious treats, but giving the peanut/nut free community a safe place to go to enjoy desserts. Although you are not local to us, I would take a trip to support such a wonderful LGBTQIA+, women-owned, and peanut free bakery!!!“

“I got an egg tart and a milk bun which I had never had before and was pleasantly surprised. The prices are super fair at $2 a piece but they only take cash or Venmo. They have a bug selection of Chinese pastries and also serve bubble teas. There isn’t a lot of seating so definitely plan to grab and go.“

“I was in the area and decided to pop by to try a thing or two. Not knowing anyone who had tried them before I stuck to the small, individual sized items…browned butter chocolate chip cookies, morning croissant and some pizza dough. It all comes frozen but I had other places to go so some started defrosting in the car. Here’s my review of each. Cookies - I don’t like ANY chocolate chip cookie that doesn’t have nuts in them. I usually wouldn’t even buy them, I decided to try these because of the browned butter. I had one in the car before I got home and they were AMAZING! I shocked myself at how much I enjoyed them. They were soft without being chewy, a feature I hate in cookies personally, and had nice crispy edges, even after defrosting! The taste, texture and everything about these defied all that I thought was possible with a gf cookie! 10 out of 10 Pizza dough - since it was defrosted by the time I got him I decided to make a couple mini pizzas. I used half the dough, I bag will easily make 4-5 personal sized pizzas. I thought I had rolled it too thin as it started to break apart so I made it a little thicker. It rises while cooking so when I do the rest, I’ll leave it thinner for sure. Because other gf pizzas seem to have such difficulty cooking in the city I was concerned when I saw these rising. But they cooked up beautifully! It was soooo nice having gf pizzas seem that had the taste and texture of traditional crust. I appreciate suppliers for having the option available, and some are better than others…but the Flakely dough is the standard now! I’ll never buy another gf pizza, whether it be a restaurant or a market. 10 out of 10 Morning croissant - I put this right in the freezer so I haven’t tasted it yet. But it looks phenomenal! They described it as a cross between a cinnamon roll and a croissant. You can’t go wrong with that combo as a general thing but given how the cookie and pizza dough has tasted, I have no doubt this will be terrific as well! Run, don’t walk, over to their shop and let’s make sure they’re around for the long haul. Just beware, they might spoil you against some of your existing faves!“

“I go there to buy the tomato pie. I never buy less than two boxes which is a quarter pie each with nine slices sprinkled with cheese. I never thought to take a picture. Maybe I will next time and I’ll update this. They make the most amazing tomato pie! I did purchase a piece of baklava from them yesterday. I can can’t speak to how it tasted, but it was beautiful as I gave it away.“

“The cake was the star of the show! Our family celebrated 50 years of emigration to the U.S. and the Lunar New Year. The cake we had envisioned was a three-layer cake, with each layer representing a generation. Frosted Fox turned it into reality. The cake looked amazing and tasted wonderful. Thanks so much, Jennifer and Sean! The cake was the talk of the party!“

“Writing a review to say that this place has probably the best cake I've ever had: we got a taro cake yesterday and I've never seen our family almost eat an entire cake in one day-- two amazing portions/layers of taro filling and icing on top and in between layers. The icing is so good, it's not your usual store-bought icing: the perfect amount of vanilla and sugar. Will absolutely be back to try their other cakes as well as their breads/pastries. Service is friendly too, I made sure to tip. Thank you!“

“Brewerytown Bakery is such a gem — a cozy little spot in Philly with two small tables, big flavors, and some of the best vegan sammies I’ve ever had 🥯✨ The Phillywide is straight-up the breakfast sandwich of my dreams: cheddar jalapeño bagel, tempeh bacon, red onion, Just Egg, beautifully spiced, and melty vegan cheese. Out. Of. This. World. I’ll be dreaming about it for a while 💭💛 My hubby went classic with an everything bagel chive cream cheese, and we took a chocolate croissant to go — flaky, rich, perfection. Everything was absolutely incredible. If you're anywhere near Brewerytown, this place is a must visit! #BrewerytownBakery #PhillyVeganEats #VeganBreakfast #Phillywide #VeganCroissant #VeganBagelLove #PhillyFoodie #PlantBasedPhilly #HiddenGemEats“

“The absolute best bagels. I lived in NYC for a decade and would sometimes bring bagels back from Vanilya because they beat almost any bagel there. When I moved to Philly, these bagels were a top 5 reason. Especially recommend the za’atar bagel but they’re all fantastic and fresh. Thank you, Vanilya!!“

“My sweetheart and I went here on our second date. The original plan was to meet at Dead King Bread in Manyunk, and then hike in the Wissahickon. Dead King was closed, however, and my sweetheart quickly suggested Roma Cafe as an alternative. I'm ashamed to say that I never knew about this bakery. When I think of Italian bakeries, I typically think of South Philly. This is the real deal. An interior that harkens back to earlier times, and probably owners that harken back to an earlier time!
It was here that I discovered that my sweetheart is extravagant with treats, especially sweets. As a bit of a minimalst, I chose a rather bland biscuit. He chose an array of half a dozen treats, including canolies.
When we eventually made our way to the Wissahickon, we discovered that we had each packed more treats for the hike - cheese, grapes. He brought the most wonderful brie from Trader Joes that was as soft and gooey as if you had baked it in the oven. I noted with approval that he was equipped with a good picnic bag, as was I.
As we walked through the Wissahickon, I was captivated by his friendliness to everyone we passed on the trails, including the dogs.
Everything was delicious, and I appreciated that the canolis were petite in size!“

“They make ordering easy and have given me a beautiful wedding cake and an amazing Cupcake-cake for a birthday party. I have ordered similar cakes from two other local bakeries and Weinrich’s tastes better and the experience of ordering and pickup was much less stressful here.“

“This is classic South Philly - big ol oven built into the wall , multi generation family operation , such a cool spot. I went for my first time and the owner Steve could tell I was into bread and pizza and history and stuff and invited me back to check out how he bakes everything and showed me all the old machines, the mixer, the dough separator. I haven’t had an experience like this visiting a food establishment in ages . The pride and labor of love Steve has for this are evident in all he does. His colleague Albin was awesome too! Best tasting tomato pie I’ve ever had.“

“Visited this establishment for the first time and I LOVE IT. “got a 6-pack, first time trying (had a gift card). i'd say it's worth the money if you're getting one cookie as a snack, or you're getting a pack for a sizeable group of people to share. both my wife and i tapped out after eating 1 cookie (chocolate chip - delicious), when at insomnia we'd usually eat 2-3 each for a dessert. if you don't like thicker cookies, these are not for you - though it has a cookie texture, they're almost like mini cakes. but again, if you're looking for a more filling cookie, i'd pay the extra $1 to get it over insomnia's.“

“The cappuccino was so good in this little cozy cafe. There were good verity of baked goods. I prefer some inside seats since the weather is not nice most of time in Philadelphia. There were a couple of seats outside of cafe but not many seats inside.“
“Ursa bread is fantastic. Since the pandemic when we were incredibly lucky to have this bread delivered to our door to now it has been consistently wonderful bread baked with love. I go to the farmers markets specifically for this bread. Philadelphia has a number of great new small bakeries but Ursa is at the top!“
