“Highly highly recommend this Black Owned Business!! You will not be disappointed!!! Best cupcakes I’ve literally ever tasted - which is saying a lot because before Kia’s I did not like cupcakes!!! I’ve tried so many flavors - even flavors I “knew” I wouldn’t like - and I still liked them! It’s wild how good Kia’s cakes are!!! Top favorites of their general cupcakes: Vanilla Oreo, Carrot cake, and Red Velvet! The cupcake specials for the holidays are amazing - and for Black History Month they did punny cupcakes that also told a story of the person that they were honoring - so sweet and important. Other foods that are there like the Iced Pound Cake and the Banana Pudding are equally as amazing as the cupcakes. Recently tried the “Irish Potatoes” which were a special for St. Patrick’s day - they have coconut in them, and I don’t like coconut - but I ate so many of Kia’s Irish Potatoes!! All of this to say - try all the flavors and offerings - it is all so tasty!!!Vegetarian options: They also offer vegan and gluten-free options too!!Dietary restrictions: The team is super mindful of dietary restrictions and honors your requests!Kid-friendliness: Brought our baby in, and the team was so kind to him!“

“My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family. My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years. The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!“

“Have only had their baked goods and breads at Riverwards previously which are all excellent. Beautiful space, bustling kitchen and really good coffee and food. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich it's HUGE, crisp bacon ??could easily share and save room for a laminated pastry of sorts. However, it's small, tables are packed in and yet there's an endless stream of oversized, empty strollers for 5-7yr olds who last time I checked have legs and can walk independently and those feral children are screaming, banging on the glass pastry cases, and running all over the place bumping into food runners and their parents do nothing. Most aren't even buying anything but a juice and maybe a drip coffee. It's a shame as the place is really cute but I can't stand it being overrun by clueless parents with ill behaved children.Parking: On a narrow street, VERY limited parking in this area“

“202403/04I don't know what their vegan lox is made of but it is freaking delicious and I'm positive if I just handed the lox of love to someone on the street they would NOT be able to tell the whole thing is meatless. It was so darn good!! Also tried their pistachio rose cookie and jasmine peach scone in March and they were delicious as well! Our forever favorite neighborhood spot!202302Today I tried cheesesteak and Phillywide (sausage egg and cheese sandwich), both are vegan! Cheesesteak $14 is made with black bird seitan. It tastes like chicken at first glance, but it looks like gluten when you eat it seriously, but overall it’s delicious.Phillywide $12 It’s delicious with beyond sausage and the eggs are pretty real too!202209There are no bakeries in this area. This opening makes me grizzly excited!I didn’t look at the details carefully, but buying two scones, two muffins, a biscuit sandwich and two bagels totaled $23, which I thought was a good deal! There are also many types of pastries and bagels. Many of the items are vegan. I really like them. The pastries are delicious. Everything and the salt+rosemary bagels taste a little salty to me.“

We split the spicy chicken empanadas, delicious, however, we did not detect the spice. We split the green chili Caesar. Honestly, the best Caesar in town. I do t see how they get it so cold and crisp, it's amazing! We then each had a ceviche. The baby shrimp, which were much bigger than anticipated, such wonderful flavor! My daughter had the crab, the server suggested mixing it right away to get the sauce mixed in. Very good! It did need more liquid. We simply poured the extra shrimp sauce in the crab, it was superb after that. The tomato on the shrimp just gives it more moisture and such a good flavor! We can't wait to go back!“

“The BEST cream filled doughnuts I have ever had. The filling itself is light and creamy with just the right amount of sweet. The texture of the doughnut was exceptionally well done as well. The peanut butter cream filled doughnut had peanut butter mixed in with the cream filling, the Nutella just has Nutella spread on top. Plenty of variety even in cream filled doughnuts. The flavor of the blueberry fritter was top 2 for a non-apple fritter. Not as heavy and crispy as I like a fritter though.Choosing from 2 cases of minimum 30 doughnut 0 do not recommend.Eating any variety of doughnut they have: 10/10 would recommend going every day for 2 weeks to try them all and enjoy favorites. “Update: originally posted my unfortunate experience and the owners response here was prompt and understanding. I am amending my review in light of their response because it shows that they do care for patrons and our concerns. i will not contact further because i did not post the review for some freebies but for the principle of appropriate response to customer concerns.I recommend ANY of their cupcakes because they are always on point. their cookies are big and beautifully delicious. cinnamon roll is good. iced coffee hits the spot!i’ve had the hangover sandwich, the mccrumb, waffle hash and breakfast burrito and i just find it really awesome that they feature other vegan restaurants food. that’s innovative and great for trying different options with each bakery purchase.if you love cannolis get the large otherwise the mini will do the trick!chocolate and confetti cake are a GREAT gift for any last minute parties!parking sucks but there’s nothing the business can do about it. i would do dine in more often if there was easier parking in the area because the decor is very fun. they take apple pay.Snippet of my original review:i buy here very often. i buy cakes for birthdays, uber eats for delivery and do pick up.for the first time, i had an issue and i told an employee and their response was indifferent. […] my solution: use the BOGO on uber eats when selling treats that their quality might not be up to par with usual standard and take customers concerns seriously.Vegetarian options: all vegan!!!Parking: parking is the worst. i would go there more often if parking was accessible.“

The owner was very friendly and give me the history of the bakery and gaining access to the crowds at Reading Terminal. My favorite pie has always been the sweet potato pie. I tried his pie and quickly realized he added a twist to the pie I'm use to eating. His crust was made from graham crackers, though different it added to the amazing taste of the pie. I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Their price was the best out of the asian bakeries in the area even with delivery included. On the day of, a gentleman dropped off the cake to our reception. He was very quick and I almost missed him but managed to call out to give him a red envelope tip. We received many compliments on the cake, it truly was beautiful and delicious. Our guests appreciated how fluffy the sponge cake was in addition to how light and not overly sweet the whipped cream was. They also appreciated the extra layer of jam we added. For my first time I tried one each of the ricotta and the marscapone, and they were similar but I liked the marscapone better! It felt a little more substantial and creamy. The ricotta cannolis are $6 each and the marscapone ones are $7 each. I also tried one of the almond cookies and it was soooo good. Not too sweet and a really great texture. Their ricotta cookies are also extremely popular and are so soft and melt in your mouth. Next time I come I definitely want to try more of their cookies! Tips: make sure you grab a number when you get inside! They call up customers by number to order. I also noticed you can either order cookies by number or by weight and they'll put them all in a box and weigh them for you. Come early in the day as the line does get longer in the afternoon! “Absolutely love it here. Consistently good food, lovely staff, quick service. I recommend getting a croissandwich for salty with any of their pastries for sweet (chocolate almond is a favorite). The owners are often coming up with new flavors to try and cute presentations like the photo I’ll attach from around Christmas. Our go-to for getting a treat in town. I can’t recommend it enough.Vegetarian options: Croissants, croissandwiches , Bahn-mi“

“If you haven’t tried Kismet yet - run, don’t walk. I truly could not have better things to say about their food and service. As someone who grew up around a small business & working in hospitality, they really have done an amazing job bringing this brand to life. Not to mention the bagels are by far the best you will find outside of NY. The egg sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel is *chefs kiss* and their everything bagel converted me into liking everything bagels.“

“Our experience with the sonho was thoroughly delightful. The sourdough donut provided a perfect base—neither too sweet nor overpowering—which elegantly complemented the richer sweetness of the ganache. The custard center was killer, and its subtlety in sweetness allowed the depth of flavors to shine through without being overshadowed by too much sugar. This careful balance of ingredients made for an exceptional overall flavor profile that we greatly appreciated. We're eager to return and explore more of their offerings!“

“My favorite spot to get work done, plus when i'm walking my dogs they let them come in while i order something to go and even have a treat jar! The caramel cream latte is divine and is my pick-me-up when i need one, and dont get me started on the pastries and desserts... I just tried the orange cream croissant which was unlike anything i've ever tried. They're little works of art that I like to pick up as a treat when I'm going to visit friends!“
