“I’m obsessed! Found this bakery on too good to go & took a ride over (from jersey) I came home with 4 different flavors of the banana pudding & my 16 year old and I tried each one. I can’t even pick a favorite because they are all so good. The Magic flavor name makes complete sense when you take a bite because different flavors seem to magically appear in your mouth (peanut butter being the last to hit…) hard to explain but if you taste it, it will make sense! I got 2 large puddings in my order than bought 2 different small ones in different flavors & i regret not getting the 2 extra cups in large! Driving in Philly stresses me out but I’ve never wanted to drive back over there so bad! For more pudding! I will be recommending this bake shop to everyone! I stopped by Mayflower Bakery & Cafe while I was in Chinatown and I’m so glad I did. The pastry case was packed with options and everything looked super fresh. I grabbed a pineapple bun, a roast pork bun, and a coconut tart, and honestly all three were delicious. The buns were soft and fluffy, the fillings tasted fresh, and the coconut tart was perfectly sweet without being over the top. I also ordered a Vietnamese-style coffee, which was strong and smooth and paired perfectly with the pastries.

The place itself is small and simple, but the staff were really friendly and even offered to warm up my pastries, which made them taste even better. Prices are very reasonable, so you can try a bunch of different things without breaking the bank. Overall, it’s the kind of spot I’d happily come back to whenever I’m in the area, tasty food, good coffee, and a welcoming vibe.“

“Authentic Chinese bakery. 紙杯蛋糕，cup cakes, were light fluffy and bouncy. So good! Ordered 20 plus of those cup cakes to go! Owners were so friendly. We ordered a lot of their pastries too. “I was in the area and decided to pop by to try a thing or two. Not knowing anyone who had tried them before I stuck to the small, individual sized items…browned butter chocolate chip cookies, morning croissant and some pizza dough. It all comes frozen but I had other places to go so some started defrosting in the car. Here’s my review of each. Cookies - I don’t like ANY chocolate chip cookie that doesn’t have nuts in them. I usually wouldn’t even buy them, I decided to try these because of the browned butter. I had one in the car before I got home and they were AMAZING! I shocked myself at how much I enjoyed them. They were soft without being chewy, a feature I hate in cookies personally, and had nice crispy edges, even after defrosting! The taste, texture and everything about these defied all that I thought was possible with a gf cookie! 10 out of 10 Pizza dough - since it was defrosted by the time I got him I decided to make a couple mini pizzas. I used half the dough, I bag will easily make 4-5 personal sized pizzas. I thought I had rolled it too thin as it started to break apart so I made it a little thicker. It rises while cooking so when I do the rest, I’ll leave it thinner for sure. Because other gf pizzas seem to have such difficulty cooking in the city I was concerned when I saw these rising. But they cooked up beautifully! It was soooo nice having gf pizzas seem that had the taste and texture of traditional crust. I appreciate suppliers for having the option available, and some are better than others…but the Flakely dough is the standard now! I’ll never buy another gf pizza, whether it be a restaurant or a market. 10 out of 10 Morning croissant - I put this right in the freezer so I haven’t tasted it yet. But it looks phenomenal! They described it as a cross between a cinnamon roll and a croissant. You can’t go wrong with that combo as a general thing but given how the cookie and pizza dough has tasted, I have no doubt this will be terrific as well! Run, don’t walk, over to their shop and let’s make sure they’re around for the long haul. Just beware, they might spoil you against some of your existing faves!“

“I have never been to the storefront, but I have gotten various things from them several times at the East Falls and Fairmount farmers markets. Their cheesecake bars are absolutely the best bar of any kind I've ever had, I can't even describe them properly to do them justice, but it's insane to me that so few reviewers mentioned them (must be because their sandwiches are THAT good--I will have to go to the shop to try one apparently!). Their focaccia bread is also the fluffiest, spongiest, freshest bread I've tasted, and can easily be eaten plain by itself. Their chocolate cake is perfect--rich chocolate flavor and not too sweet. So I wholeheartedly recommend trying pretty anything they make!“

“I was so excited when I discovered that Brewerytown Bakery is completely vegan. I’ve started going on occasional weekend mornings for a London Fog boba and a loaf of bread. (and I am very particular about my chocolate chip cookies), 2. Their service is amazing! They respond to emails and phone messages really quickly and do what they can to help, 3. They are military friendly - whenever I need to ship to my nephew's military base in Alaska (which is very hard to get companies to deliver to by the way), they always help me out, get the shipping done quickly, and are super helpful. When my nephew gets the cookies in Alaska, they are always amazing. This is a great company that I will continue to use to send friends and family delicious gifts.“

“This is classic South Philly - big ol oven built into the wall , multi generation family operation , such a cool spot. I went for my first time and the owner Steve could tell I was into bread and pizza and history and stuff and invited me back to check out how he bakes everything and showed me all the old machines, the mixer, the dough separator. I haven’t had an experience like this visiting a food establishment in ages . The pride and labor of love Steve has for this are evident in all he does. His colleague Albin was awesome too! Best tasting tomato pie I’ve ever had.“

We ate mini crab cakes, quesadillas, sea food Mac & cheese and a charcuterie board: all of it was incredible. I go to the farmers markets specifically for this bread. Philadelphia has a number of great new small bakeries but Ursa is at the top!“
