The patty was juicy and flavorful, and it literally melts in your mouth. their signature sauce is next-level good creamy, tangy, and addictive. But the real game-changer? The grilled onions it’s the perfect finishing touch on the burger, i will be coming back for more!“

“Ive heard about this place from my friends and decided to go there because i heard they had lengua tacos and the young man by the name of Jose helped me out he told me they been there for 14 years and 4 days today and that's awesome so I kno lw the food was gonna be banging!!! He let me try the Tamarindo drink which was delicious so I got that and I was there to get the language but they had sold out but he convinces me that's its all gonna be good!! And he was right i got a Pamasos and a bistec taco and destroyed both when I got home it was that good !!! “I ordered the taco plate with 2 beef and 2 al pastor taco's with refried beans and rice. It was very good! The beans and rice were very tasty. The al pastor and beef taco's were amazing. They make their corn tortilla's fresh! 5 stars! Very nice people. I am very happy to support small business's that put such great effort into creating great food for their customer's. The service was good just don't like the fact when you pay for a drink, they give the cup when you get your food, obviously because people take advantage of agua frescas since you serv yourself, no refills. The food was good. I got tacos campechanos with is fajita and chorizo, nice and tender and good mix flavor together and not skimpy. Tacos de trompo, we got the special 15 tacos for 20 dollars, the flavor was really good and seasoned, maybe a little to much achieved because my fingers looked like a I ate hot cheetos, meaning red fingers, but I liked them. The tiny white-and-green stand on Beckley Avenue has long been a Bishop Arts rite of passage, drawing weekend crowds for its cash-only tacos and ice-cold Jarritos. From the outside, it looks exactly like you want a street-side taco shack to look: hand-painted menu on the wall, a metal counter for stand-and-eat sessions, and the scent of grilled meat drifting onto the sidewalk.

On a recent visit I sampled two of the staples — the fajita (beef skirt) and bistec (beef steak) tacos. At $2.75 apiece, they’re still a value in today’s taco economy. The tortillas were warm and doubled up in classic street-taco style, but they lacked the pillowy freshness or light char that separates a good taco from a great one. The meats, while serviceable, didn’t quite sing: the fajita offered a faint smokiness but no real punch, and the bistec had a one-note chew rather than the beefy depth I was hoping for. Standard cilantro and onion toppings kept things clean, but a vibrant salsa might have helped lift the flavors (extra hot sauce runs 75¢).

There’s no denying El Si Hay’s appeal. The stand is charming, the menu straightforward, and for many locals it’s a nostalgic taste of Oak Cliff. But with Dallas’ taco scene evolving, from trompo specialists to boutique nixtamal tortillas, expectations have risen. Compared with newer competitors, El Si Hay feels more like a dependable neighborhood stop than a destination worthy of a special trip.

Bottom line: If you’re nearby and craving a quick, inexpensive taco with old-school vibes, El Si Hay still delivers. But if you’re coming from “miles and miles” away expecting a revelatory experience, you may leave thinking, as I did, that the legend slightly outshines the reality.

Rating: 4 stars (out of 5) solid and honest, but not quite the transcendent taco stand its reputation suggests.“

“I love coming here on the weekends, they have pozole every weekend and it's really the best. It's consistently amazing and a very large portion. The staff is very friendly and inviting as well. They got handmade tortillas which not a lot of places even go that extra yard for customers. Can't wait for next weekend!“
