“Food and service were awesome! There are a few food trucks near a highway. Bread was toasted and there was garlicky flavor that went so well with the shrimp. Bread was not too buttery which was great. Shrimp were fried perfectly and presentation was nice. Hope we have time to come back before we have to go!“

The cesar salad comes with toasted breadcrumbs and is absolutely marvelous. The beef tartar is also delicious, the texture is wonderful and the cheese is super complementary.

The hostess greeted us with a smile and took us to the patio where the ambiance and interior is inviting taking you on an escape from Austin as if in another part of the world. The spirits selection is amazing. But this was just a simple night out to have an after dinner drink and a birthday dessert. What made a simple night into something extraordinary and awesome was the donning experience.

She greeted us with a warming smile and guided us through the cocktail menu. Recommending a a take on a penicillin which is my favorite go to, was served up not on the rocks and tasted amazing. She engaged great conversation with us that just felt real and genuine. She brought a piece of back home with the experience she brought to the table. “This is a classy and tasty place to dine and relax after a long work day.“

“Capt’n Benny’s isn’t anything special to many on first glance, but it’s everything to locals/regulars. It’s a cute boat on the access road of I35. There are about 10 -15 tables inside and a patio with about 8 round tops outside. The hull of the boat is the oyster bar and a great place to sit if you are alone, meeting a friend for a beer or a regular. The waitstaff is friendly enough to newcomers, they are your best friend for life if you show up with a routine. I used to live down the street from this place when I first moved to Austin and was a frequent visitor. Now I live in south Austin and come 1-2 times a year.

The food is tasty if you love fried seafood baskets with a choice of slaw or fries. I live the catfish and hush puppies. The captains special is pretty good too. Their salads are mid. Their seared or blackened items are great, specially the flounder. I really love the shrimp and scallops. It’s a great place for sitting alone in the hull a cup of gumbo or étouffée, a 1/2 plate of oysters, and a beer while watching a game. Give it a chance, I have never been disappointed.“

“I never understand when there's so many booths available and at the desk they confirm that we have a booth for our reservation that they leave you standing for 5 mins while ‘they check that the table is ready'! 5.45 and we are amongst the first diners for the evening. This was our 3rd Capital Grille in the last 6 weeks, each in a different State and we come back because once you get your table service and food are great. Ron certainly gave us a good evening and was very attentive. The bone-in filet was perfection and their cheesecake was overwhelming. Good job.“

Cornbread was sweet on top, very delicious. The lemonade was great and refreshing and perfectly sweet, not overly sweet. Red beans and rice was cool but I wish fries or a bag a Zapps chips was available. I will definitely be back for future lunches!“
