“So this place popped up on my husband's Facebook a couple of weeks back and every time I wanted to go it was on a day they were closed. Today I was like I'm going to try them so I canceled my plans and drove the 40 minutes to the location. I am so glad I did. The service was top notch. So friendly and organized and smiles galore. The food..... OMG...... the food. words can not describe how good the Gumbo was. we also tried the pasta and shrimp with fried shrimp. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the sauce was delicious and plentiful, and the shrimp batter was to die for. The fruit punch and lemonade were also amazing! We will definitely be back. We will also tell all our friends because it was really that good and so fresh. Great Job and we are so glad we found this place.“

“Today was a nice day and I decided to go to Mikkis for my Seniors dinner. When I arrived a staff member opened the door for me. Then the lines was not jammed. My order was placed and the staff were prompt in responding. The turkey wings are fall off the bone good. The gravy is just the right consistency. The mashed potatoes are so creamy and delicious. The cabbage is fresh and sweet as candy. The yams, my goodness, can anyone do yams like this restaurant. Absolutely not. The cornbread is such a good texture, it is almost like cake. The staff has changed to a more friendly and polite team. Always enjoy my visits here.“

“Why go to Pappadeaux when you can get the same quality and portions for half the price. Yeah you give up a little in the area of atmosphere and it's in an area of town that might trouble you, but I've always chosen a restaurant on the basis of taste of food and the price for that quality of food. It IS the BEST Cajun food you're gonna get for the money. The owner often services your table and is flexible to menu variations. I hope he gets confident enough to open up another restaurant in a safer part of town. I know he will do well if he can just get people in there.“

“My husband brought me here to celebrate clear scans from my oncologist. It was my first time eating here and it was DELICIOUS! The complimentary bread and butter was so yummy, and the lump crab spinach dip was delectable! My husband ordered the cajun chicken tenders and was very pleased. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and it was the best etouffee I've ever had. Our waiter, D, was so awesome and on top of everything. I couldn't decide between 2 drinks, the Lifes a Peach or Purple Voodoo, so I asked his opinion and said peach. I ordered Life's a Peach and it was so good. Very very happy with my experience and I hope to come back some day.“

“The seafood here is so fresh and absolutely delicious! If you order fried food be sure to order it “seasoned.” My recommendation: seafood gumbo and the Mate Plate seasoned. You choose two proteins. I like the fried catfish filets and fried shrimp with hush puppies. If you prefer, they can broil the proteins. SO GOOD!“

“If you've never been here, PLEASE go. I always get the Hot Sausage Poboy with cheese and gravy. It tastes just like home in New Orleans. Everything is well seasoned and flavorful, and they just let the ingredients speak for themselves. That's good cooking. My wife loves the oyster poboy. I'm gonna try that one next... “Today was my third attempt at hoping to give this place another chance. Just as the two prior experiences it was horrible and the the absolute worst. It started with seating and continued to go downhill from there. The poor waitress, who by the way had only been on the job a week did her very best to try and save us from this disaster, how much can she do when she was only one of three servers working. The food was subpar at best and the think that a meal with an average price point of nearly $100 we would not have been served food to be eaten on Styrofoam plates and plastic forks. Three of four in our party ordered crab only to not be offered shell crackers or zippers, when we asked for some we were told they were locked in the office and the manager was in a meeting so she could not retrieve them! When we asked for the manager she offered an apology but confirmed this was the owner's policy, my guess is they must cost a million bucks to replace. The food was watery and luke-warm, the drinks had very little spirits and overall food was under seasoned. I beg you to NEVER wast your money or time on this place!“

“I grew up here, and this place was my escape from living in Sunnyside. The food is great, our great friend Moses who runs the establishment is and was an amazing man, and this place is so good I even wrote a song about it called “Bellfort Avenue” by Dango Torres. This place gave memories, I’ve seen so many funny things at this place too, due to the nature of the neighborhood, but I love this place. Everybody there was like family to us back in 2018-2020.“

“I’ve tried wings, fish, shrimp, and shrimp fried rice. Everything flavored well, proportioned well. Don’t care for the shrimp much, they’re large shrimp cut in half and sold as full when doing a combination plate. Only reason I don’t give 5 starts due to ordering my food and waiting on them to fix credit card machine, had to leave and get cash, and come back. Called to have food prepped since the process took 45 mins of my lunch, nothing was given for accommodations. However I do like the food and will still most likely return but with cash. Lol“

She is the hostess with the mostest!!! She is warm and so friendly! She will make recommendations on how to save too!! I absolutely love her! “I’ve been here multiple times and have not been disappointed yet. Their sauce and seasoning options are really good. Both the crawfish and snow crab clusters (sorry about the crappy pic but we were hungry!) were fresh, cooked just right and so yummy! I get the garlic butter & Cajun style sauce made spicy. Now have I felt sometimes the weight doesn’t match what I ordered…maybe.
Their pho options are also really good and you can adjust heat as you’d like (pictured is the Cajun pho). The awesome garlic noodles are garlicky and the beignets (though heavy on the powdered sugar) are delicious. Was not too impressed with the crawfish empanadas (I felt like they lacked seasoning).
Staff are nice. TV monitors with different channels playing. Decent seating.“
