“1/12/2025-This is a awesome vibe here. The ambiance is a nice bistro with some crazy art to keep you entertained but the music and lighting sets the mood. I would come back here again and again. I visited here without a reservation and was greeted when I first came in. The staff was nice friendly and attentive. Emma was awesome and recommended some dishes. The burger, half chicken, rice, and sesame butter cookie were awesome and the drinks. I had the voodoo drink. I highly recommended and you won't be disappointed.”

“We enjoyed an incredible dinner at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse on Westheimer Road in Houston. The ambiance was refined and inviting, setting the stage for a memorable evening; though the lively atmosphere made it a bit noisy at times. We both opted for the 8 oz filet mignon paired with au gratin potatoes, and every bite was outstanding. The steak was exceptionally tender, bursting with rich, savory flavor, while the potatoes were decadently cheesy and the perfect complement. To finish, we shared a slice of key lime pie, which struck the ideal balance between tart and sweet. Our waitress was fantastic—warm, attentive, and instrumental in making the experience even more enjoyable. From start to finish, it was a top-tier dining experience!”

“Went to Refuge Bar for a couple drinks and honestly ended up having such a great time. They do have a two hour limit on our table, but everything we tried was excellent and the bartenders were incredibly attentive the entire night.

They gave great recommendations from the start, and by the end of the night, after drink number four and a shot, we were blindly trusting them to just pick our drinks for us. Zero regrets.

Huge shoutout to Julia, Alexander, and I believe the third bartender was Eric. You guys were awesome, welcoming, fun, and clearly know what you’re doing.

Who don’t love Motown? The older gentleman who took my order was sweet as pie, and told me to come back 😂 (got a side eye from the man). But the burger. They don’t make them like this anymore! Patty amazingly, cheese gooey, crisp lettuce, mayo hit. Best part was all the folks coming and going. Testament to this place! Cheers to another 60 years! #HEH”

The cashier was nice, but the people making the drinks and handing them out didn’t even say a word; instead, they had an attitude with me. I understand we can’t possible order up a tab that much but we surely didn’t deserve to feel rushed. We split a salad and the meatballs. I have to admit, when a very young server named Helen introduced herself, I initially underestimated her. I couldn't have been more wrong. She was outstanding, friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. She did a terrific job. The food was excellent, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. The menu prices were in line with what I would expect for a quality steakhouse. The wine list also seemed a little expensive, so we opted for cocktails instead. Overall, we had a very enjoyable dining experience, and thanks in large part to Helen's exceptional service, I would definitely return. Last thing I found the music way to loud hard to hear your guests and hard to hear the servers, however when asked they did turn it down slightly.”

I alternate between the negitoro and chirashi rice bowls during my visits. For dessert, their raspberry kakigori has been on the menu since they opened almost two years ago for good reason. The chefs and front of house staff are personable and welcoming. They are passionate about what they do and are open to feedback.”

The service is top-notch. Anthony was attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. The sushi was the real star, with fresh, high-quality fish that practically melts in your mouth. The Ora King Salmon was standout, and the Fire Salmon was perfect. Drinks, including their selection of whisky and wine, paired well with our meal. Overall, Soto delivers a memorable dining experience. If you’re in the Houston Area, don’t miss out. Special thanks to our waiter Anthony, the GM Mariela, and of course the master chef behind it all Moto Soto.”

“We had dinner here two nights in a row and really enjoyed it, a great Japanese restaurant in the heart of Houston!

Standouts for us were the spicy tuna (highly recommend) and the barracuda, which was delicious. They had a fresh delivery from Japan one evening, so we tried the sea urchin, it was excellent but quite expensive for one portion. The chicken yakitori was also very good and worth ordering.

The chicken fat rice, however, was overrated in our opinion, we’d probably skip it next time.

The only downside was that service was quite slow on both visits. There were plenty of chefs visible, but the front-of-house service didn’t match the kitchen pace.

Overall, a solid spot with some excellent fresh fish and dishes. We’d happily return for the quality of the food!”

“Updated- I was able to try the “new” Andiron recently. The menu is a bit different. Gone are the expensive Wagyu meats and some new items have been added. Fortunately, the space kept its classic elegance and much of the same great staff remains. The martinis are still the best. I wouldn’t say the place is much less expensive but there are more options at a fair price for the quality and service. I had the market fish with a green pea hummus and curry sauce. The Caesar salad was delightfully unique with plenty of freshly grated Parmesan and a hint of citrus zest. This place is still one of my favorites in town. AND they still have their happy hour, a great way to give them a try.”

“We had our Team27HTX post-race party at Wakefield Crowbar this past Sunday (January 11), and it was such a great experience. They generously hosted our group, gave us the kids’ play area and a court to use, and provided plenty of space for a large, family-friendly crowd. There were tons of drink options, the food was easy and delicious for adults and kids, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. They also donated 20% of the proceeds from our group to the Heaven’s 27 Foundation, which was incredibly meaningful to us. Huge thanks to Dawn, Omid, and all of Wakefield Crowbar for their generosity and hospitality. Highly recommend for group events!”

“My husband and I stopped off for an early dinner after Sunday's terrible storm. Initially, we were hesitant because we had read some not so nice reviews about the place. But since it is very close to our house and they deliver, we decided to check it out for ourselves. The staff was very warm and gracious. It seems that they are a family owned business and they stopped at our table to greet us and they made us feel very welcome and special. Nice people! They have a vast variety of appetizers. We started out with tasty chicken dumplings, then had fried wings served with a variety of sauces. The wings were nice and crispy and slid right off the bone. The chicken wonton soup with lots of veggies was yummy. The wonton filling was well marinated and full of flavor...the wontons in Wonton Soup are typically bland. We ordered chicken with a medley of vegetables in garlic brown sauce. Very, well seasoned, aromatic and savory...husband's favorite, that he had with vegetable fried rice. My favorite dish was chicken Mei Fun, which I enjoyed with the chicken vegetable dish in brown sauce that he ordered. A plus for us, was that the food was not too salty or oily as it can sometimes be with Chinese dishes. We plan to eat there often, since they have a vast array of dishes we are eager to try.”

It would have been even better if the sushi rice had been stickier and more tender. The texture of the rice was the only downside.

Unfortunately, the service was mediocre. We placed most of our order through the iPad, so there wasn’t much interaction with the staff. At the end of the meal, the waitress just quickly dropped the check on the table for me to sign and walked away without saying a word.

I always tip 20% for good service, and I did the same on this first visit. However, if the service is the same next time, the tip will reflect the experience. Good service deserves a good tip, and poor service deserves less.”

“I walked in and asked someone nearby for a menu .He said menus are online rudely and walked off . I stood up there for a few minutes no one came back up to greet me or take my order . As soon as some Caucasian people walk in a man came out back greeted them & seated them all while I was just standing there . I just left respectfully . I was shocked that this place of business only caters to certain races not the African Americans and I normally dine in at the Mexican Restaraunt but I seen that a new spot opened up and I wanted to support . My family has been̈ treated very nice at the Mexican restataunt in the same shopping center everytime we go Customer Service is superb . This Educated African American will happily spend her black dollars where it is appreciated .You all need to take notes on welcoming everyone to your place of business regardless of color .”

The service from Jacob was great and he’s very personable. We shared with him the USA vs Belgium FIFA score for the game going on.
