“You have got to ask for Jay Kim, he is the best server in the house. He was patient and ever so helpful with us as first time hot potters. I had a vegetarian hot pot, well, except for the dumplings. Although they have no vegetarian options, he worked with me and provided me with an alternate option. It would be more awesome for them to add it to their menu tho for those of us who just love veggies. The broth is vegetarian based so it makes sense to have a vegetarian option along with it. We had a party of 8 and Jay Kim made it so much fun!!! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was so fresh. One other option that would have been great to have would be fresh ginger at the sauce bar and mushrooms on the vegetable plate. We were all pleasantly pleased with our food. The ambiance is very nice, low light but more than enough to cook and enjoy each other's company. Jay Kim made sure we always had what we needed. The sauce bar was amazing, so many choices. I recommend making a few bowls, some for the broth and and some for dipping your cooked food. If you get any type of meat, also make a sauce to marinade the meat. You don't have to but it made a good difference. Meats are thinly sliced for quick cooking and again,so fresh. The price was worth the amount of food and the experience. There is an all you can eat option or an a la carte option where you just get one meat selection and a vegetable plate which was more than enough for us as a party of young ladies. This was a great first hot pot experience and I definitely recommend it, just make sure to ask for Jay Kim. I know you will enjoy it!!!“

“Decided to try mae ornnit with my sister based on the strong reviews they have. Our server provided excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.“

“Stopped by on a whim. Wanted to watch the football games. The food was amazing, a hybrid of korean/American bar food. The service was on point, Brandon and Samy took care of of me like I was one of the family. Everyone playing pool was soo friendly and there was so many tvs playing the games. Ill definitely be back just for the hospitality and food.“

“Overall a fine experience— I have eaten a lot of good Korean food and this was not my favorite. The bibimbap did not have a lot of meat and the veggies didn’t have much flavor. The ramen tteokbokki was good. I could see this place being better for getting the street food options.“

“A&J was a delicious find! The food was amazing and hit the spot. Small dining area, but perfect for taking out. Parking is a little rough- the lot itself is falling apart and full of massive holes. Parking can be tight.“

The only thing I wish they would improve is the orange chicken. On many occasions, the pieces are mostly breading with very little chicken inside. Hopefully they can work on this!“

I cannot pinpoint if any of their dishes is exceptionally better than other Korean places, but I have a feeling I will keep coming back here. I love the simplicity of their sundubu and galbi. Their all-wood interior, felt like an old school late night restaurant in Korea. Seems like a perfect spot for a hearty meal and good chat.“

“This was my first time at Sorak Garden. My mom picked it out. I ordered the Kimchi Jigae, my son ordered the japchae, and my mom ordered the Dolsot Bibim bap, We shared the fried mandu (dumplings). All the food, even the side dishes (banchan) were delicious. It tasted like my Mom's home cooking. The flavors were authentically Korean. It's sad that I had to leave MD to find a really great Korean restaurant, but I'm glad my mom took me here. The service was wonderful as well. “There are so many pho restaurants in NOVA, but Pho Hai Duong has quickly become my favorite. I order their combination pho with extra hoisin and jalapeños at least once a week, and with their early opening hours I can even get pho for breakfast! I love the quality of their meat, the flavor of their broth, and the consistency of the meal each time I order. I definitely recommend this restaurant and feel spoiled to be able to eat there so regularly. 💯“

“I’ve been here a couple times since they moved locations and the food remains consistently good.
The haemul pajeon has lots of seafood and is perfectly fried. The jeyuk bokkeum is the perfect amount of spicy and always hits the spot when eaten with the hot fresh rice. The yukgaejang is hot and warms the soul.
The ventilation at the restaurant could be better but the food makes up for that. Highly recommend coming here!!“

“Wow. One of the best restaurant experiences ever. A cozy, humble place. One of the most delicious jajangmyeons I've ever had. Generous portions. Very friendly staff. And prices so low that my friend and my looked at each other shocked when we got the bill and asked the wait staff what was going on. She said that the owner lowered the prices this summer because times were hard on everyone due to the recession. Can't recommend enough.“

The owner changed a couple of years ago, I believe, but the dishes still taste great. Their pho has a rich, flavorful broth that I really enjoy. I also tried most of their offerings, which I found satisfying. If you're looking for quick and tasty Vietnamese food, I truly recommend this place.“

“I had never found a place that served grilled shellfish, but this place was a wonderful find. The shellfish was incredibly fresh and delicious!
The sea squirt bibimbap was also outstanding. The sea squirt was so fresh that its rich, distinctive aroma infused the entire bowl of rice, giving me a true taste of the ocean.

“Everything about this place is fantastic!! My husband was craving jajangmyeon and we were driving through this town on a road trip and stopped here and it did not disappoint. All the women working there were so attentive and courteous. The food came out hot and huge portions and made so delicious. The pajeon and tangsuyuk were some of the best I’ve ever had. I haven’t had Korean food this good since actual Korea. Definitely come eat here. You won’t be disappointed.“

“Taste of HOME!! We were visiting the area and decided to try this place- and we certainly made the right choice.

We got their Somori + Dogani and Gamja Tang, and I’m telling you they serve AUTHENTIC Korean food. This is the type of food/flavor I used to eat growing up in Korea. True taste of the motherland 🤤 We thought we’d have to go back to Korea taste this type of flavor, but I guess we will just have to come to Annandale!

Service was exceptional too- our server was very attentive, checking up on us frequently, refilling the side dishes and water.

“I used to come here frequently with my friend for years was or favorite Korean BBQ, but we stopped going about 2 years ago. I went back yesterday with my girlfriend, and unfortunately, the place has changed a lot.

The food portions were really small, even for one person. The sauces were very watery and had almost no texture, and flavor, it honestly felt like I was pouring water over my meat. The meat also didn’t taste as fresh as I remembered.

They also limited the rice to only one cup per person, and for the pink sauce (I don’t remember the name), they only allowed us one refill. Considering how small the portions already were, that was disappointing.

The positive part was definitely the staff. Everyone was sweet and kind, and the manager frequently came by our table to make sure we were doing okay. The service has always been amazing, and that hasn’t changed.

I have great memories of coming here for years, which is why it was disappointing to see how much the food and portions have changed.“
