“Dietary restrictions: With a serious avocado allergy I'm always cautious of rolls at sushi places; here I'm not worried they'll forget and make mistakes.Parking: Quickly got a spot right in front of the door, but the open parking lot had plenty of open room.“
“Our server was very patient and kind in explaining the menu and assisting us with making the shabu. It was my first time and it was honestly very filling. I would not recommend the cherry blossom cocktail, tastes a bit like medicine. But the other folks i was with had the japanese beer and they really enjoyed “
“Delicious sushi made fresh! It was so good and I had no idea they have been in business for 3 years! I ordered the small sushi platter and they were willing to customize the rolls for me. My new go to sushi spot when I am in the area. Looking forward to trying the Ethiopian food!“
“Nondescript restaurant in old town that serves excellent Japanese food. Small and intimate, the staff were conversational and friendly. I had the prie fixe with sashimi, lamb chop, sea bass and dessert. Price is reasonable for quality of food. Will return if in town.“
“Straight up. If you want EXCELLENT, well priced food. This place is amazing ?. Seriously, when I say food. Everything I have had is delicious. I wish this place would be on a TV show for the best hidden restaurant in Northern Virginia. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus are god like with taste.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.“
“Amazing! The sushi tasting menu was exceptional and filling! Delicious and whimsical cocktails. Bar in the back, very hip and chic workout being pretentious. Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!“
“Great food and service as always. This is imo the best Gyu place in dmv. Beef tongue and short ribs are phenomenal! Every beef we ordered is top notch quality, very juicy and tender. We love the tuna salmon yukke appetizer too!Remember to reserve in advance, gets pretty crowded during peak hours.“
“I order takeout from this restaurant at least once a month if not more. Food is absolutely spectacular and I have a bit of a customized diet and they always seem to make me absolutely delicious vegetarian dishes. Best asian inspired Restaurant in the area. Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Typically they will create whatever I request, and it always turns out delicious“
“My daughter, son-in-law, grandson and I came here for an early supper. I started with nice miso soup and my son-in-law had a great seaweed salad. We then enjoyed a variety of sushi & sashimi, while my grandson had the chicken katsu. The service was quick & friendly. The layout of the restaurant reminds me very much of some of my favorite little places in Osaka. A bit on the pricey side, which is typical of this genre.“
“We ordered to go for three people and wowow was it amazing.Food got made in 40-30mins on a Saturday night, which for a busy kitchen is quite impressive to me. The quality of flavor and warmth to the dishes was very satisfying. Will 110% be ordering from them again.“
“Saw this place all over Instagram and it lives up to the hype. Food is exceptional, drinks are strong and delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. They gave us complimentary chocolate strawberries on Valentine’s Day. It was just perfect and we’ll be back.“
“Had Sushi Koji for the first time, based on lots of positive reviews. Didn't take any pictures because as soon as I opened the container the smell made me want to stuff my face. The fish was so fresh, it was delightful. Will definitely return!“
“It is one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to. Would definitely give it a 10 out of 10, not just 5 out 5. The whole dining room is clean and organized. The food is fresh and delicious, sake is on point, and the service is always quick, hospitable and friendly. Lots of good options for food from the kitchen and the sushi bar. I am a big sushi fan. Love the seared fatty salmon!!!!! Love all the specialty rolls!!!! Love the fresh sashimi!!!!“
“The food is always good and service is prompt but the hostess wasextremely rude and didn't even pay attention to us for 15 minutes while we were standing there. Although our reservation was madeahead of time she didn't even bother to ask my name and the reservation time. Her manner ruined our evening although the foodwas good. We are not going to go back there again.“
“My friend and I were looking for a Japanese spot in the area and found this one and I am so glad we did! The food was delicious, the vibe was nice (good music), the service was fast and the waiter was friendly and accommodating to my friends' dietary restrictions and my food allergies. We paid a little over $100 total for both of our orders (3 starters, 2 custom rolls, 1 specialty roll + nigiri and 1 cocktail). We loved it and would definitely go back.“
“One of the easiest 5 stars I've given out. The signature rolls are 10/10, my friend and I split 4 and each one was equally delicious. The gyoza (recommended by our waitress, who was wonderful) were delicate, flavorful, and just as delicious as the rolls. The atmosphere is fun, lively, and sophisticated. I saw a few reviews commenting on the price, but o actually felt the price was very reasonable (~$14 specialty rolls, not bad!) I already have plans to come back for happy hour, if you like sushi this is a must!!“
“This place depicts a classy restaurant with great service and attention to detail. High quality sushi!!!11/22/22 First time for take out at lunch, presentation and freshness matches the dine in experience. The service never is lacking.03/05/2024 The consistency and quality is maintained which is an attestation to the commitment of the owner and staff. The Omakase is very good as the sushi is fantastically fresh since a supply of succulent fishes are sourced directly from Japan.Ariake yummy, delicious delight indeed, eat sushi weekly“
“I want to give a shout out to Mr. Ham, Jobbi, and MJ. I stayed at a hotel near this fine establishment and I visited it quite frequently for dinner. Their omakase is absolutely incredible, and sitting at the bar watching them prepare the food was an awesome experience. They were very kind, and super welcoming. They have an vast understanding of the meals they are preparing for you, and they only use premium cuts. Literally the meat melts in your mouth, it was sooooo good. I will definitely visit them again on my next trip out. I stayed at this hotel for over 2 weeks, and this was the only restaurant I went to eat at more than once. They made me feel like I was family, they new what I wanted when I walked in, and they remembered our previous conversations from nights prior and were very engaging. I would highly recommend to anyone who inquires. Hands down one of the best restaurants experiences in the area.“
“First off it took me forever to figure out that this place was opened...because the open sign is so tiny and not let properly. It wasn't until I walked up to the door and actually looked in I saw the staff and a few other people go inside. Now as many of these places on a strip mall situation it is a tiny space. They definitely made due with the space they had work for them. Nobody will greet up and I learned that the hard way. Because I didn't know how the system worked I just grabbed the form, sat down, marked what I wanted and handed it to the only women that seemed to work there. She asked me was it to go. I was like no...so she then proceeded to take me to a sitting area near the back and gave me a menu.Because I was so hungry and wanted a little bit of everything I opted to finally try the soft shell crab appetizer which was not good at all unfortunately. Tasted really burnt and was very small. I then got the plum wine...very sweet like I remember, tuna roll, Philly roll, spic yellow with cream cheese, and fatty tuna belly. All rolls tasted amazing and fresh so that was a plus for me! By and all I will definitely be back to same other rolls and get more of that cold plum wine...“
“Awesome cheap food! This is a little hole-in-the-wall type diner, tucked away in an industrial zone. It's the sort of place that can't be found except by those who already know where it is. So congrats on finding it! You will not be disappointed in the food! The atmosphere is friendly but no money was wasted on the newest decor. It's a perfect stop for a good and inexpensive lunch or breakfast if you're in the Springfield area. They have American classics as well as international fare. I can't recommend the Bulgogi Box more! They also have a wide selection of drinks, which are hard to find outside of international groceries. I will absolutely be going back!“
“This is a family establishment where that work together as a team. When we come in, we are greeted as my friend. The dining room is spotless. There are about 10-12 tables. I have tried everything from the sushi, hibachi, soup, salad, and Japanese beer Sapporo. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. The husband tried to teach mone hoe to use the chopsticks. Lovely place with really good food. They are closed on Tuesdays. Prices are reasonable and portions are good. Give them a try. I'll post more photos soon.“
“Absolutely a gem!Our experience was based on two people ordering ramen (absolutely delicious)The service from everyone who worked there at this family owned business was absolutely top notch, professional, courteous, friendly and welcoming. The price is very reasonable and the portion was sufficient for us.We elected for add on protein for our ramen (meat) which was tender, and cooked to perfection.Highly recommend this place and we will be back again and aging“
“This was the first time I have ever had sushi I loved my sushi I have come back here twice now, and I will come back to bring my family and friends. You have an Awesome restaurant Endo, I am so glad Bobby Lee took me here for my first time trying sushi now I have cravings for it and my stomach likes me again. “
“I mean, wow. Just wow. The experience here was unrivaled from any sushi place I’ve ever been to. From the very beginning, I had let them know that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and they had a special card printed for us to wish us a happy anniversary and a thank you for spending it with them. The waiter who took care of us was extremely knowledgeable about all of the pieces we were being given, and all of the items had just the most amazing taste of any nigiri that we’ve ever had. The wine list is over forty pages long! Everything about this place is fine tuned for a beautiful and amazing experience, and if you’re looking for an elegant and tasty night out, this is the choice that you should make.“
“Wonderful experience at Perry's, new favorite spot in Adams Morgan! We absolutely love the food, service and vibe of this restaurant. It's spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The service was 10/10. Our server gave superb recommendations for drinks/food and checked in with us frequently. The food itself was INCREDIBLE! The sushi and beef tongue stew were so delicious. The menu is hard to beat...so much variety and cool twists on classic food items. We felt so comfortable and welcomed at Perry's and will definitely be back!“
“Favorite dining experience in DC so far. Wagyu-based 8 course Japanese style set menu.Reservations-Made on Tock in advance. Around $50 deposit per person counted towards check. Reserve at the counter to watch the masterful preparation of the food! Definitely part of the experience.Food-8 courses, 7 savory and 1 dessert. Menu changes, this was our set menu:- Wagyu Salad, Chawanmushi (egg custard dish), wagyu tataki, wagyu harumaki (egg roll), sashimi trio (yellowtail, tuna, scallop), wagyu Yakishabu, wagyu nigiri-Dessert was ice cream, if you’re celebrating they upgrade your dessert- ours included an extra scoop of ice cream, red bean, cheesecake, and gold flakes!-Chawanmushi was so silky smooth and loved the flavor combination.-Their dashi broth used throughout was amazing!-All the meats and sashimi were melt in your mouth. Everything was really fresh.Seriously, the fish was SO fresh- we visited Japan recently and the sashimi brought us back! My only nit is that they have all the toppings and sauce on the fish trio when the sashimi would’ve been so good alone too. I’d come back if they introduced a fish only option!- Other favorites were the wagyu salad, and the yakishabu-The tataki and harumaki were good but other dishes were more memorable. The harumaki (egg roll) also had Kobe beef inside and definitely was a unique experience using some seasoning that had a slight numbing effect.- Flavors were traditional Japanese, with dashi, soy sauce, yuzu, ginger, and greens throughout the dinnerOther-- We also ordered tea which was so good and comforting on a cold day- Also I have to comment on the beautiful plates. I read that the Chef went to Japan to hand pick them all himself.Service-Very attentive as expected. Each dish is explained and how to eat. The chefs at the counter were also very friendly and it was a pleasure watching them prepare the food.Vibes-Small, intimate place with just a few tables and counter seating. The counter was elevated so you’re looking down where the food is being prepared.Parking- street parking22% gratuity added to the check.Overall, come to Kappo for a taste of Japan in DC!“
“Had a Great time celebrating a friend’s birthday! Food is amazing, sushi is fresh! Good atmosphere! Owners are Super cool and really knows how to make their guests feel special. Kudos to the entire staff for the Great service. Highly recommend!“
“I got the lavender drink,And Spider bomb was sooooo good,After that I got yakitori the king oyster was incredible ask for ichimi for a little spices. I would really recommend kutsudon here. Definitely coming back and try different dishes.Music was so fun. It’s a combination Asian food. Recommend for Birthday party and special occasions“
“This place is so good! The presentation is gorgeous, service is great, and the portions were large. Best sushi I have had outside of a Michelin-starred omakase experience. I almost can’t believe that there is sushi this good in a grocery store food court, but I’m glad there is!“
“Very nice restaurant. It doesn’t have a lot of tables so the space is small and cozy. You can see how they prepare the food from your seat and the owners are very kind. Good value for money. We especially recommend their boxes. The sushi was also very tasty.“
“Sushi Yama has been my go-to sushi spot for quite some time now, especially since the decline of Sushi Yoshi a few years back. Their commitment to quality at reasonable prices has truly made them a staple in our town's dining scene. While Sushi Cho offers another alternative, I'll review that separately. One minor drawback has been the wait times for takeout orders, which used to be unrealistically long. However, I've noticed a significant improvement in this area recently, perhaps due to increased competition.Notably, Sushi Yama has recently introduced a new online ordering format, albeit with a nominal processing fee of a buck or two. While some may find this a minor inconvenience, I see it as a small price to pay for the convenience and efficiency it brings.Overall, Sushi Yama continues to impress with its consistent quality, reasonable prices, and efforts to enhance customer experience. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, you can count on Sushi Yama to deliver delicious sushi that satisfies every craving. It's definitely a must-visit spot in our town for any sushi enthusiast.“
“I recently started working in DC. One thing about me I’m picky with my Pho, not everyone makes it traditionally. But this place, IS THE PLACE! To go for the best Pho around in this area. The broth is so rich and the everything about it. I HIGHLY “
“Came here later on a Wednesday night to get a quick drink and a bite to go. They were about to close and I refused to order, I'm in the industry and I know how it goes. My bartender (Dough) refused to let me not order, my man. Got some soup (delicious). Been here before and it was great, but not here for the delicious grill experience. The service is always awesome, ended up getting a bottle of nigori sake, after chatting with Dough. Super knowledgeable and happy to be here. We talked about Japanese whiskey and everything else. I can't wait to come back and try their stupid cheap lunch menu. Hidden gem in Clarendon.“
“This has become one of my go-to dinner spots in the neighborhood. The food is always excellent and the staff/service is great. Favorites include the miso soup, steamed shumai, nigiri samplers and chirashi. The rolls I have tried have also all been well done.“
“This restaurant currently only has takeaway or order. Waiting outside for your takeaway is a bit odd experience but don’t let it put you off. The food is delicious and the portions are huge. I had teriyaki. I hope for this place that they can open completely again.“
“Great food and service plus less than a block from the Gallery-Chinatown Metro Station for easy access. Small, clean restaurant with cheerful staff and prices that won't deplete your budget. We started with spicy soy garlic edamame that was delicious! Then had a Hangry Zumo sushi roll, fresh ingredients and delicious. Next was two main courses- Spicy Red Curry with tofu and Spicy Sweet and Sour Chicken. Both dishes were a comfortable level of spicy, a beverage refill wasn't necessary, and just enough heat to be noticeable. It was stated- "this is the best sweet and sour chicken I've ever had". We plan to return and recommend this great little place too. The food was irresistible so there's no pics to share.“
“This used to be my neighborhood sushi restaurant. I live in NYC now and I never miss an opportunity to dine at SushiKo when in DC. The fish is super-fresh and beautifully prepared. The staff is attentive without being overbearing. The wine list is very good. Am already thinking about the next visit.“
“What a great little spot! The value of this place is amazing- if you go for lunch you get edamame spring rolls and a little dessert on the house with an already incredible sushi deal- don’t miss this spot! It’s refreshing to see a place that takes hospitality to the next level and deliver exceptional value.“
“I’ve been to many of the ramen places near or around Chinatown and this is where I keep returning. The portion sizes are bigger, cheaper, and most importantly - tastier. I love the old records on the wall and overall ambience. It’s never too loud in here despite being downtown.“
“Shōtō is a very trendy Japanese restaurant, great for special occasions. The sushi is pretty good, not phenomenal for the price (8/10). Their tofu avocado salad was great! Refreshing and light (9/10). The beef skewers were disappointing. Super oily and fatty, not pleasant to eat (4/10). The tempura was perfectly battered and fried! (9/10)The highlight of our meal was the dessert and the black cod. THIS is the entrée you should get when coming here. Just melts in your mouth! (11/10) The panna cotta and the cheesecake were both amazing! (11/10)Overall, a nice experience. Not everything on the menu is great. The vibe was super nice though!“
“The staff are so nice, and the service is really great! I thought the food tasted really fresh and yummy, and the plating was so fun. I’ll definitely be back!Vegetarian options: There’s a vegetarian sushi combo (pictured) and the food is delicious and filling!“
“Eel had to be the best I've eaten! Service is top-notch. The restaurant has a very communal and welcoming atmosphere. The moment you take your first bite, everything fades away. For 10-17 minutes, the food will touch all 5 senses in a wonderful way. It's only after I've finished eating do I come back into being. Must try place for all the foodies“
“Having lived in Japan before, I’m very critical of Japanese restaurants. But this one was pretty good! Bulgogi was very good and the fish they used for my nigiri tasted fresh. I’d only recommend they use more rice in their sashimi - I don’t know if it was because we were the last order of the night, but there was almost no rice with my nigiri.“
“Fine if my favorite sushi spots and it's always very peaceful when you walk in and the workers are nice . It's a clean place too and affordable. I just wished they closed later . Also in the picture i ate and might of flip some of the sushi so don't think they gave it to me like this“
“This place is gold! I first discovered this place when I went to school at GW and this was close to the Vern campus. I remembered I thought the sushi was really good here but once I graduated and didn’t have a car, I haven’t been back in a while. Recently, when I had sushi cravings I remembered this spot and mentioned it to my husband so we came to check it out again. I am kicking myself for not coming back sooner! I love getting chirashis and not only do they give a generous amount of fish in their chirashi, they are all extremely high quality and fresh fish—all at very reasonable price too! I also got the clam miso soup which was very tasty and the clams are shell-on so it’s extra flavorful. Staff is super attentive and friendly too, and the place is small but cozy! I do wonder if on busy nights there’ll be long waits. I will definitely be back often!!“
“Momo Sushi is a quaint, no frills, spot with incredible sushi. The fatty tuna nigiri (special) melts in your mouth with its buttery texture, while the spicy tuna roll adds a kick of flavor that tantalizes the taste buds. I also ordered a seaweed salad bursting with umami goodness and complemented by fabulous hot tea. Would recommend!“
“Great food and great value ! Such a cute little space too.Edit: over the last few years, I have come here every few months and bring family and friends as well. I was in again last night and I love when the owner comes over to the table and talks about Taiwan. She remembers me every time she sees me and truly makes this place my favorite restaurant.“
“It's a small sushi restaurant on a busy street but there's a public parking garage a couple of feet away. The workers/owners? were nice and quick with service. Even offered recommendations. Not sure if they get a lot of dine-in customers because my friend and I were the only ones there around 6pm. At the end of our meal the server gave us a small plate of fruit, yum! I would definitely go back for a second round.“
“Went there for a quick lunch on a rainy Saturday. As a vegetarian, it’s hard to find good ramen that’s not over 20$… and sushi under the same damn roof. This place had both! And both were outstanding. I love spicy ramen so I requested for my vegetarian ramen on the menu to be kicked up a notch, and it hit the mark!!!!The sweet potatoes tempura rook was amazing as well. This might just be our new regular Saturday lunch spot. Can’t wait to go back. (Will upload pictures once I do)Vegetarian options: Ramen and sushi“
“Excellent place for traditional Japanese cuisine. We had the Bento boxes, and I was unable to take mine to go (we're traveling & had no availability to keep food cool). Good size portions and a variety of different types of food. Diffinatly a place to return to.“
