“I recently visited Makchang Dodok K-BBQ, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They made us feel right at home, walking us through the menu and offering helpful suggestions for first-timers. You can tell they really care about creating a great experience for their guests.

The service was fast and efficient without feeling rushed. Our server kept checking in to make sure everything was cooked to our liking and that our drinks and side dishes were always full. It’s rare to find such a friendly and professional team at a busy restaurant, and they truly stood out.

As for the food—delicious! The meats were fresh and flavorful, and the signature makchang (beef or pork intestine) was perfectly prepared with that satisfying char. If you’re a fan of authentic Korean BBQ, this place delivers both in taste and atmosphere.

Highly recommend for a casual night out, a group dinner, or anyone looking to try something new with excellent service to match. I’ll definitely be coming back!“

“Modern day CHEERS! BEST bar in the DMV! AMAZING PLACE! GREAT vibe/bands/staff/food/bar/service, and the most warm and welcoming staff and "regulars"! Remember the show "CHEERS"? Rename it Pete's! "Where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came." Just add terrific live music, great acoustics, and the best dance floor around! Truly impressive across the board - friendly, welcoming and FUN. Pete, Kelly and their team are true professionals; they love their work and make sure everyone feels welcome. Pete personally goes from table to table - when he's not joining the band/playing guitar! Kelly is wonderful, kind, warm, and consistently books the BEST bands around. Bartender Bo is indeed "super cool" and funny. Servers Mario and Andrea are helpful, attentive, efficient, and keep everyone very well-fed. Chef Pete (different one) regularly impresses with tasty appetizers, entrees, salads (Greek is a fave), desserts, and more. More than worth a visit - keep going back! I'm proud to be a regular (OK - groupie/super-fan) and my nights at Pete's are true weekend highlights. “Old Blue catered my daughters wedding. I will be recommending them to everyone I know. Old Blue has the best BBQ food in the greater DC area - so, that would be enough to recommend them - however, if you are planning an event, you will not believe the quality of the service they offer. Everyone was helpful, had great suggestions, they even shared decorations with us. The day of the wedding was also perfect - they were attentive and seemed to anticipate every need. Again, they would be worth it just for the food, but they perfect because of everything else.“

“I came to Arlington for a business trip from Atlanta. I've been to the Ballston Food Court several times since I visit frequently. First time at Hal & Als and I ordered the brisket sandwich. the cashier who I assume is the owner was telling me about who he learned to make ribs from down in Atlanta. he was so hospitable too. he asked me to let him know what I thought. I completely forgot. everything was great. halal BBQ is a little different but it blew me away. I'll def revisit when I'm in Arlington again.“

“We are from Buffalo NY down here on vacation. The host was absolutely amazing we sat at a high top by the bar and he came over and offered to move us to a bigger table so we had more room!! The bartender was our server and he was so attentive and on top of everything. They had a large school party that had about 50 people in it and they did not let that slow them down at all. At the end of that party we ended up speaking with one of the owners and he was so nice! We ended up finding out the host had family from where we are from and that was awesome! The food was amazing, portions were huge! Moral of the story the whole staff was amazing the food came out with perfect timing even with the huge party. “We’ve eaten at The Falls for both date nights and family outings and were extremely impressed every time. I was excited to hear they also do catering! We called The Falls, spoke to Kelly and she was super helpful, communicative and helped with everything from how much food would be appropriate for our size event and how many staff would be recommended. We had our annual Santa party with 190 people and everyone was super impressed with the food quality, the attentive staff and how friendly and courteous they were. They left my house cleaner than before the party and even boxed up some left overs for us to enjoy. They’re a true blessing and made our party one we’ll remember for years! We loved this place when it opened and we went weekly all last year. But they completely changed the menu for the Del Ray location when they opened their Mosaic location and it’s not the same. What really irks me is that they still use photos from their old menu in all of their marketing when it doesn’t match what they’re serving. The menu changes really don’t mesh with the outdoor vibe of the Del Ray location and it really takes away from the experience.

The combo plates and smaller tacos on the old menu were the perfect for sharing and trying a bunch of everything. They also had some great menu items they removed, including the mac and cheese that was mentioned by WaPo as one of the best in the city.

Now, instead of getting a combo platter and selecting sides that come on a platter you have to choose one meat and it comes on a personal plate with rice and beans, as if it’s a sit down Tex Mex restaurant instead of something unique. We already have four of those within walking distance of the Del Ray spot. Another change they made is that when you order a taco, you get one larger taco instead of two smaller tacos that can be shared. The menu doesn’t specify that, and we were expecting something different because we were used to the old menu. I ordered the fish taco, which sounded great, but was really bland.

The changes are a real disappointment. I used to love recommending this place to friends, and the meat is still great, but I feel like this place has lost what made it special wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to eat here.

Editing to adjust this downward. We tried to give this place a few more chances over the summer and after last night we are not coming back. Start to finish, it was a really awful experience. We waited at an empty hostess stand for several minutes before we saw anyone and then sat at our table for fifteen minutes before anyone showed up. We never got water. Only two of the five items we ordered came out correctly. The food was cold and honestly just kind of gross. We saw our server twice the entire time we were there and watched someone who ordered takeout return their order because half of it was missing. Whoever is running this place just doesn’t care about it anymore. It’s really sad. We used to love it here but it’s just awful.“

“Two days ago we had the 1/3/2022 mini blizzard here in nova. I had started my new job just down the street from their location so decided to order curb side pickup from online. Well, when I finally go outside and start driving I see how bad the weather is and get to RHB but it looks closed. I pull in and promptly get stuck at the entryway. I finally make it and get my car out of the unplowed lot and decide i best go back to my new job hungry. I had no food, it was birthday and I was pretty sure after encountering the weather I may be stranded at this job over night. So, I drive back to my office and get stuck right at the entryway of the parking lot! Then the restaurant manager from RHB calls me about my order and I explain what happened and my current situation . He says just drive down the street and he will bring it out to me And I explain im stuck again but ill try! So 15 mins later im stuck in the same spot and a random gentleman in a truck stops and offers to plow me out which was no easy task but he does it anyways and then RASHEED RHB calls me again and i explain my dilemma snd says ill bring it to you send the address. Im like omg thank you! What are you arrives at my office I offered a Tip snd he says no but I explained that I had been stuck in the snow twice and that it’s my birthday and I might be stranded here thank you so much. He wished me a happy birthday and I told him that let me do something so I’m writing this review. Go see Rashid at the red hot and blue and Fairfax one of the nicest guys!“

“We came to this restaurant to celebrate our daughter's birthday, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. Our server, Vi, was very rude for no reason. From the start, her attitude made us feel unwelcome. Once we finished eating, she made no effort at all to clear the plates from the table so we could enjoy dessert. We were sitting there surrounded by dirty dishes, and she walked by multiple times without acknowledging us or attempting to clean the table. It felt careless and disrespectful. What makes this even more frustrating is that this is not our first time here our previous visit was so much better, which is why we decided to come back for a special occasion. Sadly, the service this time was nowhere near the standard we expected. It really seems like when there's a table of five or more people, and the server knows a tip is guaranteed, they don't even try. This was just plain rude and very disappointing, especially on a day meant to celebrate. I hope management takes this seriously, because the food is good, but service like this makes people think twice about returning.“

The pulled pork was moist and the fries, loaded potato salad and slaw were good. Service was quick. The hog sauce is kind of like a Kansas City sauce. There are also mustard and vinegar sauces.Toasting the buns for the sandwiches would be a welcome addition.
