“Just had lunch today and while the food was pretty good, I can’t say much for our server. It would appear that she has decided that everyone she waits on must pay her a tip. We had left the restaurant and walking to our car when she followed us outside and questioned about her service. What she was inquiring about was her tip that she felt she was entitled to! After informing her the tip was on the table she immediately turned around and left without offering a thank you. What the hell?“

Especially, mackerel hako sushi was the best of all mackerel that I ate in Canada. Not only the fish, sushi rice was so good! Thanks to these great foods, we could spend the great anniversary! “This is a quality sushi place. The sushi was B+, but the price was an excellent deal. The Bento Box was a fairly big - didn't finish the Tempura. Cali roll was very good. This place is 5 stars because the dishes were huge (also had the wild salmon teriyaki), and the service/bathrooms/seating were immaculate. We will go back. Next time I'll stick to the sushi & maybe a salad. For some reason, Sushi places in BC are so much better/cheaper than US. Go eat at Momo Taro if you're hungry or on a budget.“

“I usually like this Japanese restaurant, I have introduced this to my friends, students, family and friends. I tried their sashimi salad and boy am I disappointed. I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“

The portions are great. I always order nigiri here because of the size, quality and price. Every other sushi restaurant in Langley charges way more for just a single piece of nigiri. Even for sushi combos, everyone else tends to raise prices and minimize the portions, but not this restaurant. I hope Maru will continue to stay consistent like this.

“The sushi is the freshest you will get anywhere and their portions are generous while the price is very reasonable. We've been three times lately and it's always great. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall type, so not much they can do to make it glamourous, but it is so worthwhile.

Parking: Its at the edge of a mall so lots of parking, or if you live in Newton Village, very walkable.“

Not feeling so overwhelmed with people packed in like sardines like at most Sushi places.

I was genuinely sad when I did go by a month ago & they were closed yet I was hoping it was just for possibly renovations of some sort because I see they are open again,Yeah!
