“Great local neighborhood bar. Best whiskey bar in Madison. Also a very good craft beer selection and great beers on tap. With October almost here I had to stop by Bill's bar to try his Oktoberfest beer on tap and wasn't disappointed. It was great and a good size mug (see pic attached). You can find some of the most unique beer and premium whiskey selections in Madison. Great to support locally owned Madison establishments like the Malt House. There is no food kitchen, but you can get food delivered. Check out the Malt House Facebook page to see what nights local bands are playing here.

Parking: If you get here early, there is a parking lot at the Malt House. On a busy night you may have to get nearby (free) street parking.“

However, I really wish they'd do something about the burnt(?) smell--I can't imagine the workers enjoy it, and my clothes always smell really strongly afterwards.“

“College visit with the daughter and we dined here with friends on Saturday 28th Sept and being originally from the UK, and seeing the fish and chips were haddock (not cod) I immediately had to have them and they were the best fish and chips this side of the “pond” having put up with 12 years of “just ok” fish and chips, these were amazing. Not only were the fish and chips good, but every dish was a winner. I am now praying my daughter gets into the college as I will be a regular here.“

“You all this is a hidden treasure in Madison. I mean we had crispy wings with beer battered fries (not on the menu) with jalapeño ranch. Wooo it was delicious and my mom and I take our wings seriously.

“The Memorial Union/Terrace is such an iconic location in downtown Madison and we are so grateful to have had our wedding there after meeting each other in undergrad. Sam Mack, the event manager we worked with, was so helpful throughout the process and helped us make decisions if we were having trouble deciding something and all his suggestions were spot on. He was extremely communicative, responsive, helpful, and organized. He made planning the wedding a breeze and it was so helpful that so much is done in house that we really didn't need to worry about finding a number of other vendors or coordinating with multiple people. It was also such an affordable venue compared to others we looked at and the vibes are unlike anything you will ever find anywhere else. The venue itself was gorgeous. With the ceremony overlooking the Terrace, the people outside enjoying a nice day with their friends and families were all so excited and supportive of us when we were walking around and you won’t get that at any other venue. We had people at the terrace buy us beer and got such fun and iconic pictures because of it. The terrace crowd erupted in cheering and applause when we kissed at the end of our ceremony and it was such a fun, memorable, and cool memory. The staff were all so helpful and efficient. Dinner was served to everybody as fast as I’ve ever seen at any other wedding I’ve been to. The food was delicious, and from what the other vendors told us, the managers make it so easy for them to get in, get out, and set up/take down. The bar staff were so helpful and kind, and we couldn't be more grateful or appreciative to have gotten married at the Memorial Union. It was the best decision we made, hands down, especially as alumni. We would highly recommend doing your wedding at the union!“

“The lemon pepper wings were delicious, the baked potato tots were also amazing! Also - the tots were enough for about 4 people. Definitely brought a bunch home. And they have online dart boards for my fellow dart players. Would hang here again.“
