“I am a frequent visitor of the Uptown Whittier location and absolutely love it. I recently moved down to a new neighborhood and coincidentally found their sister location very nearby. The menus are very different, but the quality is still the same top tier that you'd expect. I was impressed with the price and quality of their pork belly skewers. Only $4 for high-quality pork belly skewers is insane! I loved everything I ordered and the service was great. I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

“The food is amazing. I've tried all the different versions of katsu that they serve and they are all delicious. The bento box is a good deal with lots of sides. The desserts are also amazing. The only downside is that there is no air conditioner. They have a swamp cooler. It is usually reasonably comfortable except on the hottest days. “This outlet serves the saucy (non soup) version of Japanese ramen. I tried the spicy original mazesoba. Also side of gyoza. Mazesoba comes with soft boiled egg in the middle and you need to mix the entire bowl with your chopsticks to get all the flavors mingle. They suggest that you add some vinegar. There are multitudes of toppings you can add such as corn and extra proteins. I tried the curry mazesoba as well and it was ok but the curry flavor was showing the powdery texture along with high spice of green onions which made the experience too harsh. The deluxe version may get up to $20 if you choose the souped up version and added toppings. The default noodle is a thicker ramen type similar to a udon texture. You can choose egg noodle version if you desire. They offer you a scoop of rice to eat the remaining sauce if you Ike. Gyoza was just okay. It might have been premade type and they were too small.

“This was my third time going to makomae. I like the sashimi. They are fresh. It’s a little on the pricey side but worth every bite.
The first time I was there, I tried the beef tongue that I didn’t care for.
The second time I was there, I ordered the omakase. The server told me what fish I would be getting. One of them was Bonita. I never had sashimi Bonita and knew that I didn’t like cooked Bonita. When I tried the sashimi Bonita, I still didn’t like it..the rest of the sashimi was very good though.“

“My review is for a to go order I placed on Yelp. I found the menu to be pretty extensive with lots of options and combos for various preferences. I ordered a bento box combination and it was a ton of food! My order was ready to by the time I drove there, about 10 minutes or so, was a very easy process. All the food was vert hot and crunchy even when I got it home. They supplied all of the sauces, condiments, utensils, everything you would need to enjoy your meal. Overall it was happy with the food and service. Would love to sit in and dine some time. Will definitely be returning to try more things!“

The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside!! It came with green onions and tempura flakes on top. The curry was tasty and had a great consistency. Very delicious and a nice option for an udon eatery. I added to my meal from their tempura selection: zucchini, potato and egg. All delicious and crunchy!
I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10. It definitely satisfied my craving.

The inside was very clean! ✅
