“Love their food!! I always go for their shrimp fried rice, beef with Chinese broccoli, and fried prawns. They have an excellent lunch specials as well. I remember when the original cook used to work at Lily’s Cafe by the old Shakey’s(now IHOP).“

“After years of walking past the always-crowded HK Lounge Bistro on Folsom Street, I finally made it—and it was worth the wait.
The restaurant opens at 10 a.m., but I arrived at 9:50. Even though I was a little early, they kindly welcomed me in and let me take a seat. That small gesture already made me feel at home.
The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and charmingly chic. It’s not a large place, but it radiates a sense of comfort and familiarity—as if I had stepped into someone’s welcoming home, ready to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal.
Though I hadn’t tasted the food yet, I knew I would love it. Everything about the experience—the ambiance, the hospitality, the anticipation—made it feel like a moment straight out of an epic. A quiet, modern-day victory.
Without a doubt, 5 stars. Thank you, HK Lounge Bistro, for making my long-awaited visit feel so special.“

“I'm not breaking new ground here—the Peking Duck is incredible. But what's even better is the duck carcass: deep-fried, then sautéed with spices and Sichuan peppercorns. Absolutely off-the-charts delicious. That said, charging $15 extra for it feels a bit much.“

“This is a hole in the wall type restaurant with old school Chinese service and food. For those that don’t know what that means don’t expect five star service and atmosphere. You aren’t paying high prices here at all. You come here for the food if it’s to your taste which it is for me. Beef roll pancakes and green beans are my favorites. Cash only.“

“Out of all the dumpling places in the city, this place is among one of the best. And I can even say it’s better than dumpling home at Hayes valley. Potsticker and Shengjianbao are extremely juicy and fresh. The big plate pork ribs is phenomenal. Price is extremely good for the city. Highly recommend!!!!“

“We were just walking around and looking for a good place to eat. Stumbled upon this spot. Don't be fooled by the handful of people eating during the mid afternoon time this place was fire! Their food was really good. Bit pricey compared to your regular Chinese food spot. But man it was worth it.
Kid-friendliness: Their staff was very patient with our toddler.“

“We stumbled upon this dumpling place and it exceeded our expectations. The menu is focused on small apps, lots of dumplings (boiled, pan fried, soup, XLB) options. We ordered cucumbers, crab puffs, boiled dumplings, XLB, pot stickers, beef noodle soup. Everything was fresh, well seasoned…it reminded us of my mom’s cooking. We didn’t finish some of our dumplings, brought them home and they tasted great even heated with a microwave.
The atmosphere was easy, unpretentious, family friendly, clean. Service was courteous and prompt. We loved our first visit and will definitely be back to try many more dishes.
They also sell frozen dumplings to cook at home!
Kid-friendliness: Casual environment, clean restaurant, clean restrooms. Kids can watch chefs make dumplings.“

“It was getting late and a Monday, not knowing the city very well we literally stumbled upon this place, I’m so happy we did. The staff was attentive and friendly. The food came out quicker than I ever expected, and it was hot and delicious. Probably some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had.. Next time I visit from Southern California this place is the top of my list.“

“This place is a gem. The owners are sweet, the food is fantastic, and the atmosphere is unique and cozy.
The rice is also yummy here. Big portions, fair price.
10/10 recommend the General Tso Tofu. It’s on the sweet side comparatively, but they can make it spicier on request.“

“WenChang is a winner. I was staying a couple blocks away and stumbled upon this nondescript neighborhood eatery, and I’m so glad I did. The food and prices were great. The crispy honey sesame chicken was a treat. I’m not a big fan of sweet dishes, but this plate was loaded with nice pieces of chicken, fried to perfection with the perfect mixture of sweetness and sesame. The soup dumplings are another must-try dish—savory and juicy. The vegetable chow mein was
fresh and not overly cooked. They have two prices for many entrees: cash and credit card. So make sure to bring cash for the best prices.“

We love especially their (these are some of the most famous dishes in Shanghai cuisine)
- Shanghai style stir-fried shrimps
- Soft tofu in crab sauce
- steamed rice with bacon and vegetable (comes in a clay pot)
The staff is kind and unfailingly sweet to our kids.“

“California-style Cantonese cuisine! I really like the decoration style here, which always makes me feel better when dining here. The golden lotus chandelier and the gold and silver wire lamp are definitely the best decoration! 👍The pastries here are also worth mentioning! Pineapple buns, wife cakes, black sesame banana cakes with miso sugar!“

Cleanness is not bad. Seats are limited.
The price is average.
Ordered beef noodles, both have good flavor soup base. Noodles are not thin or thick, and I like the texture. The beef is flavorful with garlic dipping sauce.“

“Great place with a lovely patio, it's expensive of course but they give you value for the money too in the form of delicious dumplings and related delicious food. They are okay for vegetarian options. I ate at this place a lot when it was Savour and never ate outside once. The Patio is much better integrated, covered and fun with the current restaurant.“

“Best Xiao Long Bao i’ve ever had in my life. The soup is flavourful without being heavy, or oily. The pork inside is generous and tender. The wrapper is clearly fresh and handmade with care. I got delivery so my expectations were low, i’ll be honest but holy… these were spectacular. 5/5. I’ve had all sorts of XLB through the city of SF all the way back to the east coast, i’ve had Din Tai Fung… and this place beats them all. I’ll be ordering again this weekend for sure.“

“Rice cakes were our favorite and I’d come back for that. It’s served with a smoky thinly sliced chinese bacon, bitter melon which was a great touch, inari tofu skin and peppers, and was spicy ??
We didn’t really like the cumin lamb ribs, it was fatty and had a lot of powder cumin piled on top ?
Chongqing chicken wings were ok nothing too special. Wasn’t that spicy but was a bit numbing.
The Singaporean Mule cocktail was really bad and green ? don’t get it
Cod fried rice - I didn’t really taste the cod.
The taiwanese eggplant wasn’t there for me, I love the ones they make at Taiwan porridge and these weren’t like that. I think it needed some more garlic and flavor, and crispiness from a hotter wok.
We also got the peanuts which were a good opening snack. It was interesting as it’s like the traditional crunchy peanuts but also sits in a bunch of the Gold Plum dumpling vinegar. It was confusing to me ?
I’d still try other things next time as I have good memories here.“

“This is a nice addition to Clemente Street for spicy hot pot of various varieties. Malatang the numbing Chinese flavor was our draw in to the store, but they have many other versions of soups such as laksa and tom yum. The beef broth was a little weak, but the numbing flavor was quite strong. You pick all of your ingredients and we enjoyed all except we found we didn't like the yam noodles. The staff was really nice and helpful and the interior was modern yet with a little bit of classic Chinese art. Really looking forward to trying this place again and trying the other flavors and ingredients. We are omnivores but we would like to come back and try it with totally vegan soup and ingredients option.“

“Good dumplings. We got the spicy pork and chive dumplings. The chive was a little more than the meat in the dumplings but overall quite good. Also got the dan dan noodles, which I prefer with a little more sichuan peppers and spicier but this was quite good. The onion pancakes were crispy and less oily than other places so overall quite good.
The service was quick and efficient.“

“Dined here on 1-22-25! Recommend by my wife who ate here with a Postal Staff party. Food portions were outstanding and very tasty! All the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely come back, as it's hard to find good Chinese food with such generous portions!! Looking at the customers , they seemed to be all regulars returning to such a good place to eat! I definitely found a little gold mine, and almost want to be secretive about this place!!
Thanks,

“Usually these kind of shops are usually very not organized and not sanitized well. When checked the place the food stalls were nice and clean and there were no cross contamination.
Can be bit pricey than you expect because the food is weighed but other than that I am very pleased with the organization and sanitization. The taste of the food is good and very filling, if you want to a hot meal I totally recommend this place.“

“First time here, Christmas Eve lunch. We were there 1st customers @ 12:30 for lunch. The place is pretty austere and cold in appearance and in temperature. We asked the server if they could turn on the heat and it was met with a silly little grin. Maybe he didn't understand. Needless to say we all ate w/our jackets on. He brought out the plates for our meal and they too were ice cold. So we all sat on our plates to warm them up, not kidding. They do have a very extensive menu of items to choose from. Overall the meal was really good, food HOT and plentiful. I wouldn't bother with the friend shrimp, only 8 on a plate and they looked like they came out of a package. All items pretty reasonably priced. However, I won't return until summer when the weather and the plates are warmer.“

“Have you ever had Fujian cuisine before? Now you can at Taste of Shaxian in San Mateo! All of the dishes were very simple, but surprised us with a lot of flavor! Whether you're a fan of dumplings or not, this place has good ones and a bunch of other must-try dishes all priced very reasonably. For 2 people, we ordered just enough to be comfortably full.
* Shaxian Wonton Soup
* Soup Dumplings Combo
* Spicy Cold Noodles (highly recommend!)

“One of my go-to delivery spots. My favorite dishes have to be the Broccoli Chicken and the Sesame Chicken, both of which have super crisp vegetables and a good portion of meat.
They also make a pretty good (and spicy) Kung Pao Chicken and General Tso’s Chicken, and a fairly soupy Kung Pao Three Combo.“

“The choices of vegan ingredients for the dish are great and you will definitely find something you like - veggies, mushrooms, tofu or dumplings! You pay for the weight and therefore are able to create your own dish as you wish, considering the ingredients as well as the volume. There are three vegan soups available and a great variety of toppings that can be refilled as wished. Really nice concept and definitely a recommendation!“

“Super tasty! Shortly after I sat down for lunch they immediately served me a steaming cup of hot and sour soup that I polished off. I love it when food is served piping hot. Next came the Mongolian beef and noodles I ordered. I will just saw wow wow wow. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. This was probably the best Mongolian beef I have had. Hands down. Fantastic no frills lunch spot. The way good food is supposed to be. Can I say awesome again?!“

“I’ve dined in a couple of time and recently did take-out a lot. My friends and I are big fans of this place!
We’ve tried their sweet and sour chicken, the black bean chicken, sesame chicken, shanghai style pork strips rice cake, honey walnut shrimp, string beans, Beijing style pork strips, pan-fried chive and pork dumplings and more. I love their sesame chicken - crispy, savory and sweet umami goodness!
Never had a problem with getting seats or parking.
They have a take-out special of 3 items for about $50, soup and white rice included! Super worth it. Check it out!!“

“Travelling from HK to san francisco for the first time, this place is near my hotel and i was missing home food. The milk tea is even better than a lot of char charn tengs in HK. 10/10 for the milk tea. The staff said they use three types of tea to make it, i am very impressed and would recommend to everyone who knows how HK real milk tea taste like. Also it has no sugar and you can add your own which i love, as i like to drink it sugarless to feel the real taste. It is suitable for people who dont like sweet at all and can taste the tea flavor. 100% authentic. Im so glad i found the lovely little place!“

“Someone recommended the Goto here, and since we were in the area, we had to give it a try.
My husband and I arrived around 9 PM on a Monday night, and I was surprised by how busy it was for such a late hour. Luckily, we only waited a couple of minutes before being seated, and we were given menus right away.
We weren’t super hungry—just curious to try their Goto (beef tripe rice soup)—so we ordered that along with Lechon Kawali (crispy fried pork belly) on the side. I was hoping they had Tokwa’t Baboy to pair with the Goto, but the Lechon Kawali would have to do. Their menu is quite extensive, but we kept it simple.
Our food arrived after about 15 minutes. Despite how busy it was, our server was very kind and attentive throughout. The Goto was solid—the tripe was impressively tender and made the dish. The Lechon Kawali, however, was a bit underwhelming compared to versions we’ve had at other Filipino spots in our area. It also felt a little pricey, hmmm maybe pork is more expensive in Colma?“
