“Excellent taste at an absolutely affordable price. The food tastes just like home. I tried daal, rice, raita and aloo gobhi sabji which really satisfied our hunger for food. Situated in the most grand serramonte boulevard is a must go place if looking for good Indian food. Try for yourself!“
“When my husband found out that they served lunch buffets on weekends now, we immediately came back to give it another try. And I am so glad we did because everything was delicious! Will definitely be a returning customer now. Clean, fresh, hot delicious yummy Indian buffet!“
“Mashaallah started out as a food truck but now has a stall in the food court of Westfield San Francisco. Despite its humble appearance, this small business offered some of the best Pakistani food I've had in the city from its steam table of freshly-prepared meat and vegetable curries. A star dish here (which came recommended by Soleil Ho) was the Lamb Korma, made of super tender, lean, meaty chunks of lamb in a spiced curry. On my combination plate, I also got the Chana Masala (chickpea curry) and the Palak Paneer (cheese cubes in a velvety puréed spinach sauce), served along with rice. Every item was delicately spiced and flavorful without being too salty, and the garnishes of raw onion and cilantro brought out the freshness of the dishes. On the side, I also had an order of Garlic Naan (another star item), which was perfectly soft and chewy and had a wonderful flavor and aroma from the garlic and herbs. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so friendly and hospitable too!“
“My new favorite Indian restaurant in SF. Once we walked through the front door, we were immediately greeted by smiley employees. The dining area is cozy and intimate. I loved how each table has a vase with a single rose. Romantic touch. The food is sooo delicious! Portions are plentiful, and flavors are immaculate. Papadum (lentil crackers) and 3 dipping sauces is served as a complimentary appetizer. It's quite yummy. But you know that no Indian meal is complete without naan... and WOWOWOW the naan is GINORMOUS here. And butter chicken? Can't go wrong. So friggin good. This place is awesome. The customer service is also top notch. I'll be back again... and again :)“
“I've been coming to Himalayan cuisine since 2009. When it first tried their cheese naan with chicken korma and chicken tikka and yellow doll, I fell in love with the food, the customer service, the atmosphere, the stop, and the owner. I wish felt so taking care of and so valued whenever I would come in. So I kept coming back and then two years ago I moved to Portland and there was not one Indian or Himalayan restaurant that had as great food as Himalayan cuisine in SF. In If you I want the best of the best. Come here for dinner and bring your friends ;)Vegetarian options: The food is so good. You can't even tell that it's just vegetarian food. ;)“
“Really lovely place. I loved the veggie coconut curry. Sooo delicious! Accompanied with their garly nan and the rice, it made it the perfect combination. The server was super nice, and all the staff were very kind. I loved the ambiance. The music was super relaxing and I loved the paintings. It felt like one of my trips to India. I'll definitely be back.“
“I stumbled upon this restaurant with two friends recently when another place we were planning to go to was closed, and I’m so glad we did! The food was SO delicious—flavorful, but not overpowering, and we left satisfied, full, and with lots of leftovers! I started with a mango lassi (my favorite) and really enjoyed the amount of mango flavor but without too much sweetness. We also had the veggie samosas (big, nicely spiced, just perfect), garlic naan (perfection, saag paneer and butter chicken. Everything we ordered was simply delectable. The service was quick and attentive, but not overly so. And the space was clean and very classic—nice dinnerware, candles on the table etc. All in all I’m so happy our original plan changed and we went here! I will definitely be back again!“
“Went to royal Indian for the first time today. So good!I ordered tiki masala, tandoori chicken, garlic naan, saag paneer and Raita. No bad comments, everything was really goodI had Jalson and dipindra as my servers. Super attentive and funny. Overall? 10/10 experience“
“Noe Indian Cuisine is top notch in every way! We stopped here for our lunch during our bachelorette weekend with six of us, and we were in a hurry to get to our next activity. They took our orders right away, brought the drinks and food quickly, and all of it tasted incredibly delicious, hot, and fresh. Not only that, but they brought all the boxes we needed too. Honestly, this is the best and speediest service I have ever seen at a sit down restaurant. If I'm ever back in San Francisco, I will be coming back!“
“Opened my pizza boxes and was stunned at some of the most beautifully made pizza's i have ever seen my entire life. i would consider them a works of art - the fullness of all the ingredients, the way they were intentionally laid out, combined with all the color....and we could have a possible michelin star pizza. we ordered the butter chicken pizza and the combo pizza. the butter chicken was slight spicy but not too powerful. the dough had a crisp edge and bottom with an airy interior. so good. the combo had a fantastic amount of meat and veggies... and the crust was the just as amazing. run by a nice family who took our order over the phone. had it ready to go when we arrived. great service. thank you mr singh's for beautiful and very tasty pizza's~“
“Favorite Indian cuisine spot in the bay area, tbh. The medium is actually spicy, like 1/5 of an Indian chili pepper and the max heat is the spice of an entire Indian chili pepper. That jawn was fire, would do it again, 10/10.The goat curry was really well done, however, some pieces had an absurd amount of bones so it's hard. The shrimp curry was amazing. I'd 100% recommend it. Get it medium and you'll be wigging out, most of you, anyways. The Momo's are alright. I wouldn't get them again, at least the vegetarian ones. The sauce also isn't anything crazy to go with it. It's overall pretty mid.“
“Honestly, I always enjoy my experience at Pakwan. My go to is their cheese naan, which in my opinion is the best naan in SF, possibly the bay. I usually accompany it with either an aloo mutter, bengan bartha, or a chicken tikka masala. Something that goes good with naan and is scoop-able. The workers are super nice and show a lot of hospitality. I really like the ambiance and how the dine in experience is as well with the music they play and how It has a family style vibe that makes it really inviting. Overall, one of 16th streets best eats. Enjoy!“
“This is my second or third time here. I decided to go off the beach and path and try a non-dosa or non uttapam dish. I am glad I did because the biryani was excellent as was the chili chicken appetizer. Even the naan was good, it was thinner almost like a parota but yummy. The flavors really reminded me of eating in South India. And Andhra food has always been of interest and I'm so glad we have this restaurant here. Used to have to go to South Bay for the best Indian food but this place proves that to be wrong!“
“Having iftar here in Ramadan was an amazing experience! The place is decorated for Ramadan, there is a beautiful, clean prayer area with lots of head scarves available for women to pray. They had a specialPlaylist for ramadan too. The service was excellent. Loved the tea. The food was good too. Thank you for this wonderful experience in Ramadan!“
“I first ate here in April of 2023. On that day they received a five-star review. Almost 1 year later, it's even better the second time. The Paneer Tikka Masala is the best I've ever had. It is seasoned to perfection. I order it mild but there is still a tiny tinge of spiciness just for flavor. The garlic cheese naan could not be more fresh. It too is cooked and seasoned to perfection.Service is outstanding. The restaurant is immaculately clean.Castro Indian Restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, Indian restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area.“
“We have been coming here since they opened. Absolutely the best Indian, Nepalese restaurant we've tried in the city. We've now tried a lot of the menu. Can't say I have a favorite since all the dishes are so good. The tandoori shrimp is one of my usuals as well as the aloo gobi. I crave the garlic naan, it's so bubbly and has a great chew. The atmosphere is super nice, and everyone who works here are the best, great service!! I'm long over due from giving a review. I highly recommend this amazing, friendly restaurant.“
“Came here on a Tuesday night with a friend and there was no line!Good:- We got an appetizer really quickly and it was good!- The naan sampler here was a great quantity - 3 naans for about the price of 2- The saag paneer here was solid, I liked how large it was since I brought it back for another meal- The prices are good here, great value and good service, food comes out fast.Bad:- Pretty casual place, not too crowded and not very fancyOverall a good place for a quick bite and really solid Indian food!“
“Had an amazing experience here!First of all it’s a gorgeous space, extremely intentional, airy, unique and feels like you are in another world. The sequence of the meals were perfectly spaced out and someone came to explain/introduce each dish.Highlights:-the cauliflower curry was tangy, filling, complex and beautifully presented. Amazing.-the Lamb Shoulder might have been the star. Extremely rich but not overwhelming. Spicy but balanced. Paired so incredibly well with the glazed sweet flatbread that came with it, that combo of rich savory and sweet was amazing, ended up using the glazed flatbread as a utensil Injera style.-the crystalized coconut crystals with chia and mango was such a unique dish. Crunchy yet soft, tart but coconut creamy. Pairs perfectly with the chai.-the fried chicken, a dryness to it but the dryness almost really worked especially with the lime flavors involved.-clarified Mango lassi drink, clear and fresh but all the flavors of a boozy mango lassi still present. Yum, curious how they clarified it.Everything else was delicious but these had me moved, will definitely return.“
“Great little hole in the wall for Indian food in the south side of San Francisco.Pros: Great parking space, very favorable, lots of different options, able to walk after lunch in the outlet area, clean place and restaurant, rice was included was entrees, and chai tea was great.Con: only con was that both chicken entrees seemed small as we only eat out once per week for our "cheat meal" I was hoping for more chicken to hit my protein intake. However the taste was amazing.Parking: Huge parking space in the outlet which includes other businesses.“
“Aaha is our favorite Indian restaurant in the city! We've always had excellent service- they've often offered complimentary chai while we wait. Our favorite dishes are the gobi manchurian and Vijayawada special biryani. We've also tried a number of regular entrees/side dishes and all have been delicious. Highly recommend Aaha!“
“Went for a Friday night date with husband. The food was flavoursome . Specially the Bombay sliders were just mouthwatering ?Decent and quiet ambience with not much hustle bustle.-1 just for the fact they were out of the dessert we wanted to try.Overall had a nice calm dinner.“
“Everything I had at this restaurant was absolutely mind-blowing. My visit was spontaneous, and I brought in a friend who has never had Indian food prior. We ordered several breads, rice, tandoori prawns, dal makghi and chicken tikka masala, and every single dish delivered punches of flavours and textures, with great balance in acidity and heat. Friendly staff was the cherry on top.“
“Absolutely! Indian cuisine has become a staple in the culinary landscape of the USA, offering a diverse array of flavors, spices, and dishes to suit every taste preference. Whether you're craving a comforting bowl of biryani, indulging in the creamy richness of butter chicken, or savoring the crispy texture of samosas, you can find a plethora of options to explore. Moreover, the presence of vibrant Indian communities in many cities ensures authenticity and accessibility to traditional ingredients, enhancing the dining experience for enthusiasts of Indian cuisine. Whether you prefer dining out or ordering takeout, Indian food in the USA caters to a wide range of preferences and occasions, making it a beloved choice for many food enthusiasts.“
“Aslam's is my absolute favorite Indian/Pakistani food in the Bay Area! Huge fan of their chicken madras and saag paneer. The naan is always perfectly toasty and I'd recommend a mango lassi to accompany it all. The quantities are satisfying and we often end up taking a whole extra meal's worth home in a to go box. On top of the excellent food, the service is phenomenal. It's the type of warm, friendly, family-owned business that makes SF feel like home. They've been a low-key institution on Valencia st. for at least as long as I've ben here, and quickly became a go-to. If you want to impress someone by taking them to that 'sleeper spot' with incredible food, take 'em to Alsam's!“
“So far my Favorite Indian spot in the whole Bay Area!!!! As far as food in concerned, decor is regular (nothing fancy) however, their sauce has that SOUL (not sure what or why), that Something that calls you to return (i think its fat content related), i would compare it to my love for Oxtail adobo :) lol... i "loke" it (coined here like/love=loke) just made that up..... Check it out“
“Excellent food! Gracious proprietors and very brave for starting up this little restaurant as a new concern only in the last couple of months. The Indian food places I liked in my neighborhood for the last 30 years have all closed and I was looking something new. I ordered six items and each one of them was spectacular. These hard-working people KNOW how to present Indian food at its best. The Aloo Gobi was a flavorful surprise--the potatoes were so delicate---- and the Lamb Curry perfect. The Garlic Naan, I can predict my big Hawaiian husband and I will fight over. I'll just have to order more. Try the Rogan Josh--you will be so pleased.....and the Palak Paneer, my favorite! I think I could just lose all control and order ten of them. So much to admire when a new eatery concern takes on the restaurant world of San Francisco and be a success. Many locals and Federal Building employees were coming and going and the staff knew who they were and were so friendly.. You can eat in-house at the little spotlessly-clean tables or take something home as I did. I will return and because a regular because of the gracious and sweet greeting and service I received and the beyond-excellent food. THANK YOU!!!“
“Near San Francisco town, if I get a good restaurant there this is the one. Food ambiance and service all are good .. love the steamed momo, tandoori chicken..yum yum.. masala chai we didn't like. One suggestion will be that if they can provide red chutney with momo that will be beyond perfect, definitely will visit again“
“So happy to have found this place -- by far the best Indian food I've had on the Peninsula, SF, or anywhere. Everything is incredibly flavorful & fresh. Best chana masala, bengan bartha, bhindi masala, and dal I've had anywhere. And low oil without having to ask!Great for in-person dining and takeout. The decor and ambiance are delightful and outdoor seating area (w option for hookah) is beautiful and comfortable-looking.“
“I came to Tilak after a long hiatus and am so glad I did! The food was excellent and the service was very good. The reason for the 4 stars (instead of 5) is that I almost slipped and fell on the wet floor on my way to the restroom. My friend and I shared the following:1) Goan prawn curry - delicious 2) Chicken Chettinad - very flavorful 3) Channa saag - tasty The brown rice and Naan we got to accompany our entrees were good, too, as was the wine. Our waitress was attentive and took great care of us.The wet floor at the end of the evening was the only weak link - they should not have started mopping their floors before our departure. Overall, I'm so glad to have rediscovered Tilak and look forward to returning!“
“This has become one of our top food delivery spots. Their palak paneer (the spinach with cheese) is so delicious, me and my boyfriend have now agreed to order two each time since we inhale one too quickly. We also love the Nepalese dumplings.“
“The food was delicious. We got the classic goat curry, chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, egg plant in salan sauce, rice, and garlic naan. The naan and rice was perfect for sopping up all the difference sauces. The chicken was a little dry, but the sauce made up for it. My favorite was the goat curry. Very moist and just tender. We got the medium spice, which was pretty spicy. I also recommend the mango lassi, a delicious yogurt drink. The service was wonderful too. The waitress very friendly and she gave us a free dessert, rasmalai, a cheese dumpling in sweeten condensed milk.“
“The Coconut Curry here is out of this world. The drinks are A+ with unbelievably great prices. The vibe inside; the colors, the music, the art, are all so inviting and warm. The menu has options for everyone ( stellar vegan options) and our server couldn’t have been better. Best Indian Food in the Bay“
“I have been ordering Rose for 4 years now living in San Francisco and it is the BEST. Great for takeout, but also have a wonderful atmosphere at their location too. :) The coconut vegetable curry, palak paneer, and tikka masala are so good! The momos and samosas are amazing too. Cannot recommend enough!“
“We ordered the paneer tikka masala and the veg chilli momos. Both were good, but the Momo portion was small. Order something else with the Momo as it is not enough for one person. Parking is a nightmare, if you are not a local, plan your parking with care.Vegetarian options: Veg chilli momo, veg steam Momo, daal, veg pakoda, paneer chili , daal makhani, saag tofu (vegan option)“
“I ordered the Chicken Thali with chicken tikka masala and it was the most delicious rich gravy I've ever eaten. the service is good and the people are friendly.i came back to try the chicken tikka masala pizza and it was great. it was a huge slice for 5 bucks n the flavors were bomb.“
“Freddie is the best!!!! He deserves a promotion! Loved his personality and service, even though he was not our server.Overall, went here during happy hours. Tandoori wings were very juicy, great French gimlet for a drink (not sweet). Definitely recommend both. Paneer tikka and chicken Saagwala was great too!“
“Start with this fact that this place has changed name, so don't look for Bon AppeTikka.Given the number of Indian nationals eating here and the huge amount of take out deliveries occurring, there's solid demand for this shopThe meal (3 main courses) was fine as far as it goes. My problem was that there was nothing about the food that makes me go "wow!!". It's nice food, it's freshly prepared but it's just nice. There's no va va va wow there“
“We tried this restaurant for breakfast and we had one day Millie and the second day Jack as our waiter he was awesome, we also try Campton place bar and bistro for dinner and I highly recommend it, food and service was amazing every single time.Would definetely recommend this hotel and restaurants to everybody! It's a true sample of elegance and service. Thank you again to all the staff for going just that little step extra for the guests!!!Vegetarian options: YesDietary restrictions: YesKid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“We reached this restaurant around 9:45 pm on a Thursday night.Since they were closing for dine-in we decided to get a takeout. We ordered:Butter Naan: The portion size for this quite big. However the naan was a little undercooked and too thick.Tandoori Roti: Really liked it and it was cooked to perfection.Paneer Tikka Masala: It was very tasty and pretty well made.Vegetarian options: There’s a whole lot of vegetarian options to choose from!Parking: We couldn’t find a parking spot at all and one of us had to stay back in car while the other one went and got the food.“
“Being a Gujarati and vegetarian, Besharam is a go to for us. It is one of the very few restaurant with veg tasting menu. However, we went ahead with a La carte menu.We started our dinner with mango lassi, chai and cocktails. The cocktail was mild, but the chai made me remember the tea stalls of Ahmedabad. I really loved the taste and the smell of cardamom coming from chai. For appetizers, we had drunken panipuri and pav bhaji puff. The panipuri was amazing however the name might be misleading. It is not at all drunken panipuri. They just add a drop of gin which is very hard to even taste. I wanted to try it by name but be aware it is very misleading. The Pav bhaji puffs were amazing with melt in mouth puff pastry. For mains we ordered, maska paneer, malai kofta, cheesy garlic naan and roti. The paneer was fresh and soft just like homemade paneer. Koftas were amazing. The roti was more like thepla. And for dessert we had Shrikhand Cheesecake. The cheesecake for super luxurious with perfect sweetness. They had added blueberry compote on the top which I think was unnecessary. It was not going with the flavors of the cheesecake. The overall experience was amazing.“
“One of the best places for South Indian cuisine in India, and it does not disappoint here as well. Exceeded expectations in every regard, great food, delicious taste, amazing service, and a cozy atmosphere. All in all, a great experience, cannot recommend enough!“
“I completely enjoyed the meal I had here recently. All of the food was delicious, the young man who was our waiter was incredibly attentive. The restaurant was empty other than our group of three, but we could see the kitchen was quite busy with takeout orders - it was a very rainy night. We each ordered an entree and only one appetizer and had food leftover. They brought us a complimentary gulab jamun, which I never order as I’ve rarely enjoyed it, but I was quite grateful as it was soooo delicious- rarely is that dessert served warm. What a treat!I’m glad it’s my local, I look forward to my next visit.Dietary restrictions: My friend dining with us is very spice sensitive. She expressed her concerns before ordering and was very happy with her meal.“

“Lovely combo of an Irish pub and an Indian restaurant so that's something for everyone right? A fresh samosa with beer is the way to start but everything we've tried on several trips has been excellent: fresh, great portions and prices. They're somewhat understaffed so sometimes there's a bit of a wait for the food but they're uniformly welcoming and courteous. Highly recommended.Vegetarian options: It's an Indian restaurant grafted onto a pub so between the indian food and the bar snacks there are a lot of veg optionsDietary restrictions: Vegan/vegetarian options present on the tablet ordering app.“
“Highly recommend this place for authentic Nepali Indian taste. Huge portions, value for money! We ordered jhol veg Momos, chili veg Momos, veg chow mein, veg fried rice. All dishes were delicious and 3 of us ate this over 3 meals because of the huge portions. This place will not disappoint! Recommend take out or delivery.“
“Overall the food was okay, and price was reasonable. But they add a service charge and just say the total amount (if you do not ask for a breakdown), which can be a bit confusing. So the total cost is food + tax + service charge + tips (if you want to add).“
“It's a 4.5 star. Solid garlic naan; tasty chicken tikka masala; saag was a tad too salty but I'm sure it's just a one-off thing. The portions were generous, and I'm so thrilled to have found a restaurant that serves complimentary rice with the entrees! The gentleman at the front counter was very sweet and helpful. Didn't get his name but I came in half an hour before closing on Tuesday night (3/19/24) - hint, owner! Pay them a visit.“
“Great food, great taste and flavors, great prices! Service was great and the restaurant was clean, nice, and roomy. The spice level was perfect and the naan was fresh. Would definitely go back! There's a parking lot across the street that is convenient and I see many people picking up take out orders as well.“
“This is a place which brings back the feeling of old San Francisco. A place not forgotten and the taste of old San Francisco lives on by the beach. Growing up in the Mission I use to go to Zantes Pizza which reminds a bit of Brothers Pizza. The pizza at Brothers stays tasty and consistent. This type of pizza is my jam: Thick, Cheesy, and Saucy with Flavor.“
“Very unassuming spot in Daly City. Service was a pleasure and felt very nice to stop by. We ordered the tea leaf salad and pumpkin curry with coconut rice all which were very tasty! It may not pack a punch with flavors but still enjoyed the subtlety of the dishes.“
