“This was the best restaurant I never ate in. Lemme explain. My superwonderul-one-in-a-million friend is in Monterey visiting her sister and bro-in-law there. (Actually they live in Chico, CA but they drove down to Monterey for the weekend.) So, says I, "Why not try Sardine Factory? (I live in Albuquerque, but hey, Diana is my superwonderul-one-in-a-million friend...oops, I already said that... and she is in CA, visiting from Albuquerque). So I called Sardine Factory and spoke to Mary and she took my credit card number and the rest is history. THANK YOU MARY! Diana, my friend, said it was a "10." "Staff was fantatic."in the Conservatory. "The waiter tied a bib" on her. The best meal I ever had... from 1,00 miles away. Mary, you are the sweetest person in the world! But Diana loved it, and that what matters the most. Oh, she had cioppino (see photo) and her sister had "delicious" seafood pasta and her bro in law had sea bass ("very good"). So Mary, and Sardine Factory, you made people very happy this evening. But that is what you do. God bless.“

“This must be the best sushi I have eaten in California in a really long time. The fish is extremely fresh, and the portions are generous. They focus on the fish and not the amount of rice. All the seasoning is so on point, and they keep it real without adding a ton of sauces or other distractions. I would come back any time when I'm in town. It can get busy during dinnertime, so either make a reservation or be prepared to wait for a little bit. They do offer outdoor seating.“

“Being an old-ish Army Vet, I had to try the SOS, as it was the go to breakfast in the 80's Army. I was not disappointed with the flavor or the memories! Great, efficient servers, service and food. 12 stars outta 10 stars! (When the VA appointments send me this way again, I'll definitely be getting my breakfast here!)“

“Ordered 3 sushi rolls and the chicken teriyaki entree. Food was definitely delicious and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service can be significantly improved!! Each time we had to call the server to our table if we needed something. Made it a challenge to add more meals to the order if desired.

Overall rating would have been higher if service can improve.“

“I had done a search for the best clam chowder in Monterey and they are at the top of almost every list, and they were right! I got the clam chowder in the garlic sourdough bowl I highly recommend them! My wife, Michele got risotto with caramelized onions, shrimp and sole. We had a view of Monterey Bay and some sea lions playing. Our server, Giovanny, was phenomenal! He brought Michele a piece of complimentary cheesecake and a rose for her birthday. 🌹 I had the chocolate creme brûlée. Great start to our mini-vacay in Monterey!“

“Just wow. I wasn't expecting more than a filling meal and what I got was the best Orange Chicken I've ever had. Highly, highly recommend. It's worth the wait. Everything was delicious but the orange chicken was something special.“

I thought I was finished until the little waitress offered dessert 🍨. I ordered a piece of their home made apple 🍎 pie 🎉🎊😱. People let me tell you this is a bucket lister. “We generally like the sushi here because we get basic quick rolls that don’t require much(like us). But almost every time I get these vegetarian yam rolls, the yam comes out raw and it’s very difficult to eat because I don’t want to eat raw sweet potato/yam. And since I am a vegetarian, I like to have a little bit more protein, But I can’t really have that if I can’t eat the yam. Other than that, my husband loves his rolls that he gets, like the Pebble Beach.“

I have tried a couple of dishes here before (e.g. schnitzels, fondues, goulash soup, sand dabs, geschnetzeltes) and they are all excellent.
