“Oh Alvarado Street Brewery, I love you. This is my favorite brewery at the moment, I enjoy most of their beer offerings. The patio out back is nice and they have a TV with the game on but it can be difficult to get a spot. The wait isn't completely terrible, for dinner we managed to get seated fairly quickly and for lunch we sat at the bar. I had their beet salad and split a pizza with my brother. The beet salad was great and the pizza was OK. For dinner it was packed and a little loud so it was kind of difficult to talk. We ended up coming back the next day after golf for some beers and their burger which was delicious. Great spot if you enjoy their beers.“

“I had done a search for the best clam chowder in Monterey and they are at the top of almost every list, and they were right! I got the clam chowder in the garlic sourdough bowl I highly recommend them! My wife, Michele got risotto with caramelized onions, shrimp and sole. We had a view of Monterey Bay and some sea lions playing. Our server, Giovanny, was phenomenal! He brought Michele a piece of complimentary cheesecake and a rose for her birthday. 🌹 I had the chocolate creme brûlée. Great start to our mini-vacay in Monterey!“

We recently had our son and daughter in law’s rehearsal luncheon there and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, amazing food and drinks. We highly recommend this fine restaurant while visiting Monterey. “One of the few Sushi joints that can accommodate our dog. Nigiri was fresh with large pieces. Rolls are delicious and crafted well. Miso soup and salad also very nice.

And my salad was the perfect size to complement the large portion of the hot Turkey. I added a little Tabasco cause that what I do. I thought I was finished until the little waitress offered dessert 🍨. I ordered a piece of their home made apple 🍎 pie 🎉🎊😱. People let me tell you this is a bucket lister. “You know this place is authentic when you see all the Chinese people eating here for Chinese New Year’s! The owners are so sweet and the food is authentic. I wanted fish for the holiday and she made sure we got the right kind for good luck. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and made such delicious food. I really felt like I was back at home at this restaurant. The owner spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin too, which was so lovely. It’s hard to find an authentic Chinese atmosphere like this on the peninsula. Good vibes. Highly recommend.“

“We have been going to Heirloom Pizza a few times a year for a while now and have always enjoyed great food and good service. This was until last night. The food was still delicious and the server was good. That was the limit of a good experience. The hostess had a look that we were bothering her by wanting to eat there. We arrived about 7pm and they were busy, but it only took about 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered fairly quickly and then waited for over 50 minutes to have an appetizer to reach our table and another 25 minutes for our main dish. By the time we received our appetizer the restaurant had only 5-6 tables with people still sitting. We understand that it takes a little longer for a deep dish pizza, but well over an hour in unacceptable. In the 50 minutes we saw no less than a dozen or so orders go out the door for pickup orders. I understand they sell pizza and there is likely a large amount of business that doesn't come an stay to eat, but we felt forgotten. If we choose to go back, maybe we should order before arriving.“

I don't drink, so I can't say anything about the alcohol, but I really enjoyed the food and the service was fast and friendly. I just wish there was more inside seating because it was cold outside and inside was kind of stuffy and noisy. But I will definitely be back to try their other food when I'm in the area.“
