“My partner and I are avid enjoyers of fine dining experiences; having traveled with the particular goal of seeking out quality cuisine.

Having said this, my experience at Lucia was one of the best of my life. The food evoked a feeling— which I find to be a rarity these days. Never have I ever tasted bread that made me well tears; the paring of cheeses with the selections of fruit, jams, and crostinis was fantastic. The harvest vegetable soup was warm and comforting. Rather the dining experience being focused on the ambiance, this one was truly one to *feel*. Also, it appears all of the food is locally sourced, which makes every dish precisely in season.

I will say, this is a slow dining experience, which in my opinion is not a bad thing. I did not feel rushed, and was given ample time for enjoying being present with each dish.

“We decided to go through Carmel Valley and stop for some wine tasting since the Pacific Coast Highway was closed due to a landslide.

Highly recommended. The area is full of wineries and tasting rooms and the views of the valley are incredible. We stopped at Cowgirl Winery and got 2 sets of wine tasting flights. It was a great chance to learn more about Californian wine.

The Meat they put in here was packed! Plus, the ratio of soup and noodles, were right for me! The noodles were soft, but chewy enough, and the meat was cooked to the point of being soft, but still with some feedback to it, and still full of its basic flavor! “This is a must try in Monterey!! The owner was so sweet - my brother and I were staying in a hotel while visiting and she even provided all the utilities and specially asked what we need. The noodles and tofu were all so well prepared and delicious - so many vegetarian options to choose from! Also, the mango boba was a refreshing drink! She also provided appetizers for us to try and even accommodated my vegetarian diet restrictions. It's so rare that you find a family owned hidden gem like this, make sure it's on your list for Monterey!“

“Folktale is such a dreamy location, experience, and vibe. I was not a wine drinker before my first visit. Three visits later, I became a member and stop in at least once a month (sometimes more, oopsies). Their wine educators are the absolute best humans ever. They are all genuinely excited about giving you the best experience and so helpful if you, like me, have no idea what you want.

They've been doing construction on the inside/restaurant so I haven't been in there yet. In the meantime they have a Wine Garden outside with amazing views of the vineyard and mountains. Folktale, if you're reading this, DON'T CLOSE THE WINE GARDEN EXPERIENCE!! It is the literal best thing ever! Especially with the live music.

Overall amazing place, amazing staff, they are dog friendly. And yes, you can bring your kids and babies. There is shade, or sun if you want. Yes, they have food. It's perfect for bookclub, Bachelorette, birthday drinks, or 12 o'clock day drinking with your husband because the kids are in school and mama needs a night off, Carl!

“I had never been here before until my boyfriend took me a few months ago. We come here pretty often now. Servers are always super sweet and attentive. Vibe is a little dark, moody and quiet. We came on Thursday around 5:30 or 6pm. The food fills my heart and stomach 💛.
To drink we had Suigei Junmai Daiginjo sake and water.
For food this time we had the spicy tuna roll, Dream Eater roll (a special), two orders of ocean trout sashimi and unagi. I forget to take a picture of the unagi. We ALWAYS order it at the end as if it's a dessert, so good! 😋

We’ve been here tons of times, but today when we went in, the service wasn’t the same, waitress seemed upset for some reason because I asked for extra avocado & I had to ask another waitress for some chips 20 minutes later because the original waitress never asked us if we needed anything else after they brought us our food. My wife felt like the crunchy tacos that they serve here were the best she has ever had. I felt like the California burrito and the chicken were very tasty. If you don't serve chips and salsa with the meal I usually make my ranking four stars; but this one gets an extra star for the outdoor patio with the excellent view. After looking thru my choices of dishes, I decided to order the menudo, available Saturday and Sunday only{$15.25} along with Large Spanish Rice {$6.38} and two cans of Pepsi {$4.00}.Lately I’ve tried Sarita’s Mexican Grill{Monterey}, and Las Cazuelas {Seaside} thru Door Dash,although both were okay wasn’t completely satisfied with the taste of their dishes. Both places I tried the Campechana Cocktail and the Spanish rice giving them two tries. Hopefully the Menudo and Spanish Rice will be delicious from this restaurant 🤔. Subtotal {$25.63}, Delivery Fee {$0.00}, Service Fee {$1.99}, Estimated Tax {$2.37}, Total {$29.99}, Dasher Tip {$3.50} = $33.49 Grand total. The Menudo came in a large plastic container that Full all the way, it was Hot. The menudo came with cilantro and onions,which I added to the dish.The tripe and everything was sooo good! Definitely I will repeat ordering this dish on weekends .The rice was in a small container and was regular taste and I added the sauce from the menudo which gave it some flavor. Overall I was satisfied with this meal and would order again

5/31/26: Second time ordering thru Door Dash at Taqueria Zarape {Seaside} today. Earlier I ordered the Menudo, Spanish Rice, and two Pepsi. I enjoyed the Menudo, so I wanted to try their Campechana. Previous orders of Campechana I tried at Sarita’s Mexican Grill {Monterey} and Las Cazuelas {Seaside} and both of them I tried twice and wasn’t satisfied with their Campechana. Hopefully Taqueria Zarape will be tasty and enjoyable just like the Menudo was. I also ordered a small Spanish Rice and two cans of Pepsi. Placed order @ 6:07p.m, ETA: 6:30-6:36p.m.,{Marina}, Dasher🚚: Jennifer, Arrived:6:45pm. Received my order, and hopefully it will be good as the first order from here earlier today{Menudo}. Subtotal {$29.67}, Delivery Fee: {$0.00}, Service Fee {$1.99}, Estimated Tax {$2.74}, Dasher Tip {$4.00} Total { $38.40} The Campechana was full of Shrimp, big cuts of Octopus 🐙, avocado 🥑, spiced perfectly. Definitely enjoy and best tasting over the others I’ve tried at Sarita’s Mexican Grill and Cazuelas.

6/3/26:Third time ordering thru Door Dash for Taqueria Zarape. 5/31 ordering Menudo, and Campechana , along with Spanish Rice. Enjoyed the Menudo, Campechana 👍😄, Definitely a repeat order. 6/1 ordered Jumbo Lengua Burrito and Lengua Enchilada. Not worth it very bland no repeating this order. TODAY I’m reordering the Campechana Cocktail 🍹 which comes with many shrimp 🍤 , Octopus 🐙, sliced avocado 🥑 and taste the 💣 bomb! Ordering this dish you won’t be disappointed {Tried Sarita’s Mexican Grill, Monterey & Las Cazuelas, Seaside and their Campechana can’t compare😖} BEST IN THE BAY! I also ordered Small Spanish Rice and two cans of PEPSI. The Shrimp and Octopus pieces are big and very delicious 😋 Spiced so well, but might add sliced lemon or lime 🍋‍🟩“

“The food was great, but the real star of the night was our waitress, Giuliana.

I swear she knows that menu better than the chef. 😂 We could’ve asked her what aisle the salt was made in, and she’d probably have had an answer. She knew every dish every ingredient and gave awesome recommendations.

What really impressed us was that even though the restaurant was absolutely packed, she never made us feel rushed. She still took the time to answer questions explain the menu and made the whole experience that much better.

Service...about 80% self serve, and had to chase down someone if we ever needed anything.“
