“First time visiting and we had the omakase. The staff welcomed us like they have known us for years as soon as we walked in. The service throughout the omakase was amazing and the sushi was the best weve had since visiting Japan! Toshisan is passionate and friendly. Cant wait to go back asap! I wish I could keep Toshi Sushi to myself and not tell anyone about it, but they deserve to be successful so I chose to write this review. “The sushi here is to die for!!!! We moved about 45 minutes away and when ever we crave sushi we will make the drive. I have yet to find a sushi restaurant near me that comes even close to Osaka Story! My husband and I make sure we come once a month. “My boyfriend and I got the omakase but to be honest it was not worth it, the food tasted great but you can get almost the exact same course by ordering the 10 piece nigiri from the menu for half of the price. The atmosphere is nice but not appropriate for a traditional omakase. Highly recommend, just save your money and skip out on the omakase.“

“I’ve been to Japan four times in the last five years. I have friends who live in Kyoto and they take me to their favorite sushi spots. They also tell me where to go in Tokyo, where they spend a lot of their time.I never had sushi as good in Japan as I did last night in Gardena. I’m not kidding.The chef is very dedicated. He considers the entire experience from start to finish. So do a lot of other chefs at great Omakase spots in LA.What is different about Sonagi is that the chef is very into choosing his seafood based on the season. I’m not going to spend time going across each dish but you’re not going to get the typical fish here. I’m pretty sure that if the chef thinks some seafood item is seasonally better than Otoro, that’s what’s gonna get served.I’ve never had rice like the rice served in that small bowl. Crispy and perfect. The soup and the desserts were also incredible.They have two seatings, which I’ve seen in a few other places. Everyone at the sushi bar is served each dish at pretty much exactly the same time. This lends itself to meeting people at the bar. It’s almost like a get together at the chef’s home.One other nice touch: Before leaving, guests are presented with a fine stationary printout of each dish and its sourcing.Special place!“

“Came here with my friends after Sake2Me had closed down their waitlist, but honestly I don't regret it one bit. We had a great time here with their service and quality of fish! The AYCE Sushi price here is $42.99 for the regular menu options. I honestly think that's enough choices for that price. Food takes a bit to come out and comes out sporadically. “Everything I have ordered has been top notch and when I order I never doubt what I get will be something that will beat my expectations. I love going here when I am looking for a good variety of sushi. I have gotten many of the rolls to share with my family and different combos that really work well together. “Tried their Las Vegas Sushi Roll and Jalapeño Poppers with a raspberry iced tea on a weekday mid-day. The Jalapeño Poppers were garnished beautifully with a flower which was lovely! They were fried lightly but the batter was separating from the peppers, but other than that I had no complaints. The Las Vegas sushi roll was good, and the salmon tasted fresh. Overall it was an okay experience!“

“The staff are friendly. We enjoyed the Kitchen boat. The garlic fried rice with chicken was very good and tasted similar to hibachi fried rice. Brought my young nephews and they enjoyed the beef and chicken teriyaki. Will definitely come again and will try other sushi and noodles dishes.“

“This is probably the most popular place to get your lunch at from students and faculty at El Camino College. Every meeting I'm at around lunch time I see someone eating from Mr. H. I really love their spamasubi and their miso soup. It reminds me of my high school days when people would sell spamasubi from their backpacks. The place has a few tables and chairs to sit on if you are looking to dine in or wait for your food. Cool thing about their service too is they have a buzzer for when your food is ready. Sometimes it takes a little long to get the food to come out but it's always hot and ready to eat when they do.“

Parking absolutely sucked, we drove around the blocks multiple times until we came up on street parking behind the alley somewhere. It wasn't terribly busy, got there around 7:30 and was seated in 10 minutes as parties were leaving. The yuzu roll was such an explosion of beautiful flavors combined in your mouth, 10/10 recommend for yellowtail lovers! Ambience was dim, not too noisy and the music was quaint. The teriyaki bowl was so delicious, definitely recommended would also recommend the shrimp tempura as a side dish. “Surprisingly really loved the crunch roll ! The shrimp on top was fried in the same seasoned batter & really added a nice taste! “Sushi Island is a great place to eat at! Most of the time, I order takeout and I usually get the same thing every time. I order a combination plate with Japanese style meatballs and sesame chicken. The meal comes with rice, salad and miso soup on the side. The food is delicious and the people who work there are always nice and helpful! I love coming here and will continue to do so. “TL;DR Solid (hand and cut) rolls, sashimi and overall experience, no complaints Story: Been here for the second time after about ~6 months. Both times with family, both times seated pretty promptly. Ambiance: Parking hasn't been a problem both times, but the lot only takes ~10 or less cars. Service was adequate as more folks filtered in (cater your expectations to a restaurant with a few waiters) Generally clean (restroom was fine), and I didn't feel uncomfortable with any of the decor/music/lack of anything Food: Definitely solid roll choices, they have other things like teriyaki but can only comment on the fish/rolls Soy paper and rice less options are appreciated I'm all for handrolls and these hand rolls are definitely hefty (Lobster hand roll/Vicky hand rolls were very solid) Rolls were good and fish was relatively fresh (no complaints) Value: Decent value considering the quality of the fish and that it's a sushi roll place, would definitely give this place a chance if you're in the mood for a solid roll (but shout out to those large hand rolls).“

“This is a hidden gem! Looks like a place most people wouldn't look at twice, in a broken down shopping center attached to a laundry mat between Savers and the T-shirt store. The chef is a food artist, all his dishes are nice to look at and taste amazing. I had the spicy pork bowl, My wife had the number one salad, gioza and tempura mix. She loved her food and so did I. “I randomly stopped in here to grab some take out. They were only going to be open for another 20 mins. They greeted me with smiles even though they were about to close. While waiting for my take out I noticed just how vibrant the environment was. And it all centered on the two main chefs at the front that night they were very energetic and full of laughs and smiles with the other customers. I will definitely try to come here more if my work schedule lets me.“

I spent a bit of time in Japan lusting over the food and I was skeptical I could find the same attention to detail in the US but here it is (at least to my western taste buds). Every dish has character. It can get busy so don't expect walk ins to always work out, there is bar seating too if you want to come as a single and be comfortable. The servers are great as well. About 4 items is a full meal.“
